I don't really keep up to date with the card game anymore. However, I'd like to sleeve my copy of RotRL and pack it into a well organised case/tray/whatever.
Did the Ultrapro cases which were planned to fit a base set plus all its expansions ever get off the ground? Are they still in the works?
I saw a thread about a 'broken token insert' which I presume is an alternative. I'd rather wait for the Ultrapro case if they are on the way, but not if development has been discontinued.
Has there been any semi-recent public news/announcements on that?

Last I'd heard was back in July, just saying that they're still being worked on.
The Broken Token is one of the companies that makes thin wooden inserts for your existing game boxes. The other one people mention is from Go 7 Gaming.
Personally, I expect that an insert will be both better and cheaper than whatever UltraPRO might eventually release. This is based on the reviews and initial price point of the Mox Cub3, as well as my own opinion of the Broken Token insert I have for my S&S set. (It's great! :)

That would also be disappointing. I don't mind the price, but I'd hope that after this amount of time the cases will be superior to an insert.
I'd want a standalone case as opposed to an insert for a few reason.
First, I'd love to just leave the original box as is. I don't have the money to just keep sleeving everyone of these, so I play to keep 2, maybe 3 sleeved at a time. Rather than having to store the original insert somewhere and find it when I want to "unsleeve" that adventure path, I'd prefer to just put all the sleeved cards in a stand alone case.
Second, I think the insert's extra weight does wear on the box over time. I haven't had a disaster or anything, but it doesn't seem ideal.
That being said, the Broken Token insert has worked out really well for me. If a case never happens, it will still be a great thing to have.
Whether or not this ever comes out, there are other options available to store a full set of one of the PACG releases. Artist cases with inserts (available from both vendors linked above), fabric cases (there's a wide variety; this is just one example), bog standard white cardboard card boxes, and I'm sure there's more good ideas for which I don't have links. :)
But I need it to look awesome too!!!
In all seriousness, those fabric cases might be just what I've been looking for for my class decks. I'll have to check those out.
White cardboard card box + full sheet labels (Avery 5165/8165) + clear contact paper = fully customized box for your game!
I like the potential portability of the fabric cases, but some have very curved corners in their card slots. You'd want to make sure the cards on the end wouldn't get damaged and/or insert something to prevent that sort of damage.

Hmmm... I have a question now based on the interior.
Will there be labeled dividers? I'd rather have some not homemade and I definitely don't want all the cards together. I hope that, if they don't, I can find some good professionally made ones or I'll be passing on the product I've waited a long time for.
There could be a official divider pack till now. All new dividers may be already sold inside the new adventure paths. What do you think?

Without some organization within it....I have reservations. While the Broken Egg is expensive (for what it is) and bulky, it does help tremendously with organizing the cards. I know, we can make our own. I'll probably get one to try out. May be good for traveling set for weekly games and/or conventions.

So far, we've got 1 of 2: the price is definitely higher. That's not too much of a surprise, since the folks making inserts don't have to make a box. Quality is impossible to judge from just one picture and no actual product, but...

They're not noted in the info so far. I doubt Ultra Pro would include anything too specific. I guess this does go into quality, as the inserts include organization for you. (I'd overlooked that initially.)

Ultra Pro doesn't claim that. They claim that the entire box holds up to 1200 double-sleeved cards. How many cards fit in the top row? Hard to say until you have an actual product to play with. However, since Chris posted measurements we can do some guesstimating:
The estimated dimensions are: 15.9 in x 6.4 in x 8.6 in.
Assuming those are external dimensions, let's make the math easy and say that the interior long dimension is 15 inches. 75 double-sleeved cards pack into about 2 inches. Since there's two rows, you have 30 card-inches of space: 75 * 30 / 2 = 1125 double-sleeved cards. So maybe.
It'll be interesting to see reviews, but I'm still skeptical.

An 800 card box is approx 14 inches internal. I use a standard two-row 1600 box to hold my entire AP. I need additional room for the Season cards. I single sleeve all my main cards and double sleeve only the token, character and role cards. I would hope from the dimensions specified that the top two rows are approximately the same size as a "shoebox" two-row 1600 card box and the drawers below could hold any additional supplies like extra sleeves, Seasonal cards, extra cards.
As far as dividers, BCW and Ultrapro make plain white vinyl dividers. They can be trimmed down to fit card boxes if needed with a box cutter. You can easily use a fine Sharpie to write card types across the top. I already have these for my APs.
Looks like I'll pick up one to make sure but then get one per AP. That strap better last!

PPro-dividers? (What are those?) The BCW dividers are great. I label by card type or by Adv deck # or however I want. If I want it to say something else, a little isopropyl and it's clean.
I would put a label on top to designate the carry case. My AP (original) boxes with the original inserts are packed away in a Rubbermaid tub in the attic along with all the adv deck boxes and class deck boxes. All my APs inhabit those shoebox style cardboard box. They pack a lot better for my bag.
Different style boxes is nice for you but I'm still a Venture Officer/facilitator for organized play at multiple locations so carrying the original (and signed!) boxes around is not in my best interest.

If that's what it comes down to, buying plain dividers and cutting them and designating them myself, then it saddens me to say, I guess I'm passing.
If it does end up including dividers, awesome. If it doesn't, then I have only one thing to ask the people who designed this -- how did you think dividers weren't needed?

I would expect at least the default. If someone wants other options I could understand putting it on them to do so, but when there is a standard way (who isn't going to split up types?) and the game box has that, why would you not at least include that. I'm not even looking for extravagant, just for them to provide pre-labeled dividers. As for will they give us that, I'm not even seeing anything indicating they'd give the first, but yea definitely not the second since that's a secondary sorting that is something extra some players decide to do.

I can see that. I'd prefer something at least semi designed (A sword, a shield, etc.), but just a set of dividers that each have a tab at the top saying the card type is good enough for me.

If they came with default dividers, I'd expect the ones that are in the Pathfinder deck box. At least they're themed.
For me, the deal breaker is the container. Will it hold all the cards from an AP (sleeved) along with all the cards added for the OP season plus room for dice, stones/markers, spare sleeves? And while I'm pretty sure we could fit one of every class deck in its own deck case, I like having them in their own binders. (I actually carry two of each.)
It would be nice to have a "writable" area to label what's inside.
Also, I wonder if the giant playmat will fit in there.

You may cut the giant playmat into smaller pieces. These will fit into the lower floor cases of the chest in a rolled way.
Before playing, you will have an additional playmat puzzle to solve...

Yeah, I mean if I carted my set around all the time maybe, but storage at home is just easier with the broken token insert. Takes up less room in the cabinet.
Yeah, I never play at home. I always am carting my stuff around. This is what I've been looking for. I hope it lives up to expectations. From what the pictures show, this isn't really for the home player. This is definitely a travel case. And I'm glad.
