Deadpool should be in the Bestiary 6

For reasons :D

We NEED Kachinas. Seriously. There are a ton of really interesting ones, and I really hope that they become the main outsider group for Arcadia along with Anaye. I'd like them to be alignment diverse, like the Kami. In fact, Kachinas and Anaye should be too Arcadia what Kami and Oni are to Tian Xia. This would give us some really fascinating mythic bug monsters too, as insect creatures are a rarity in mythology.

I would be surprised if we see anything related to Arcadia anytime soon. But you never know they may surprise us.

Well, I now know the first thing I'm going to check every day when I wake up from now until oblivion. Seriously, this is the best find since A Book of Creatures.

Some creatures made of raw magical energy would interesting. Maybe one type of these creatures likes to make a material body out whatever non-living matter is available. Another likes to posses/inhabit items, machines, and/or constructs. A third type likes a living host.

And another "project" with mythological creatures, it even has a Awahondo!

I want Dream Wolves! They have been teased for years and we still have yet to see them at all. If you don't know of them, you haven't read much about Darkmoon Vale.
5 Bestiaries and we still don't have these critters...the injustice! Oh the humanity! Give them to me already! Thank you.

I for one do not need anything more bunny-related nor Santa-inspired in my Golarion.

Dream wolves would be interesting along with a list of every creature mentioned in various pathfinder books that do not have stats.

The Troodon in bestiary 5 was a bit of a disappointment.
There were a lot of different Troodons. Maybe some awakened and became sentient. The next Bestiary I would like to see awakened Troodons.

Bestiary 2 is the one that I wasn't disappointed in a monster's art or stats. It comes with the territory.

I would like monsters based on and/or uses puzzles or games of chance.

I found some awesome ghost ships:

- Caleuche (South American traditional ghost ship myth)
- Funayurei (Japanese sea ghosts that can summon ghost ships)
- Naglfar (Norse ships made from bones and fingernails)

We got a Boneship in B5 already...how is the Naglfar different?

Sometimes I post things just to give the many mythology fans here mythological counterparts of Bestiary 1,2,3,4,5 monsters.

Not all I post is a wish.

I still like to see Caleuche though as real ghost ship and Funayurei isn't really a ghostship, but are related to them.

Someone here heard of the Crossroads project?

Well it is about Native American mythology monsters that some guys created for Pathfinder.

You can find it here and here

You're welcome

Stumbled upon this when searching for Zheng (Chinese myth panther from the mountains with unicorn horn, red hide and 5 tails) on google, but strangly the Zheng isn't even in this project YET. :-S

And what is this new cool stuff i'm digging up?

There was already the Solomon Island's Bonguru which is a boar with a hornet's nest underneath its throat, but now I found about this Native American deer spirit called Yumilekax, which is a deer with an beehive in it's antlers.

Yes, but the bone ship is a corporeal undead while a ghost ship would be an incorporeal one...if the ship itself was a ghost and not just it's crew.

I'd like a Funayurei.

Yumilekax is a fun one. I've had it on my index for ages. Wasn't it arboreal too, or am I thinking of the Snawfus?

Crossroads was the first NA monster thing I discovered on the internet. Right when I started collecting mythical creatures. Cool project. I'm glad it's still happening.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think Snawfus is the arboreal one, IIRC

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I like both an Lidérc and an Aitvaras.

Both are monstrous chickens that can breath fire, and while outdoors they change into something else.

The Aitvaras turns into a big cockatrice-like dragon, the Liderc changes into a stunning man.

And maybe MMCJawa and Wannabe could post interesting new creatures with descriptions sometimes, instead of putting them in endless lists with 10.000 sasquatch, humanoid ghosts, little duende-like creatures, and bogeywomen hags in it so that the interesting unique creatures (such as the awesome Snawfus and Yumilekax) aren't overlooked!? (this is not meant hostile in any way) :-p

Sometimes less is more! And those posted here have more chance op appearing in the Bestiary when you post them alone and with descriptions.

Some Robots that change into vehicles would be cool like a boat, car, jet, etc.

A type of robot that uses hologram technology in a variety of ways such as disguises, to change or hide the environment, misleading it's target, etc.

A kaiju battling robot, maybe even five robots that combine together to form one big one.

Robots with cool abilities like shrink rays, freeze rays, disintegration rays, land mines, ray deflection fields, invisibility, alchemist bombs, heat seeking missiles, sonic blast, sound negating fields, electro magnetic pulses, gravity fields, electro webs, magnetic fields, etc.

That being said a Bridge Colossi would be cool.

Just read The Slayers and the Slain by August Derleth which has this creepy Psychic Book Phantom, a psychic monster based on it would be awesome.

So far we have the following robots: Annihilator, gearsmen, myrmidon, terraformer, director, evaluator, juggernaut, surgeon, reclamation, thought harvester, warden, observer, collector, arachnid, mannequin, scrapyard, and torturer.

I would like some more robots with like forms such as cat, snake, fish, octopus, bat, mantis, bird, wolf, manta ray, and frog.

I would like to see hunter, tracker, banker, helper, worker, guardian, death sphere, analyzer, warrior(four armed), assassin, digger/miner, and agriculture bot.

So far we have the following robots: Too much already, there are more robots than div's and rakshasa's combined.

Are robots a separate category in bestiary 5?

If you mean they get there own section, yes. Also they have there own subtype as well.

Robots are grouped together like demons or devils are.

Sincubus, everyone here knows you dislike robots. So you can stop telling us that. It isn't accomplishing anything, and the rest of us would like to be able to discuss them without hearing your complaints. Seriously. You've made your statement, now let's move on.

As for the lists, I don't put things on them that I don't think have potential. Some creatures would need to be reinterpreted more than others, but most sasquatchkin, human undead, hags, small fey, etc. do have potential in my opinion. And as for descriptions, the very simple fact is that adding descriptions to those lists is time-consuming, and I really haven't had much of an opportunity to write up more than just the names for the forums as of late. I've been primarily busy with my own setting, and interpreting these creatures for that, plus huge numbers of pop-culture and original monsters as well. My personal interpretations are often incompatible with what the devs are trying to create here, and I don't think you'd find them to be of interest either. It's a really weird setting. So, to make a long story short, I've been busy trying to apply the creatures for the purpose I collected them for to begin with. I really haven't had the opportunity to provide stuff for the forum as of late.

If you want, I could send you the current list, but you'd have to do the research yourself, and a good deal of it wouldn't be your taste. But I don't have time to cherrypick the weirdest monsters for you right now. Sorry man.

It isn't that much of a deal, I was just joking/sad that you both knew about awesome deer monsters with beehives in their antlers/plant antlers and you never shared them with the message boards :-(

And I like Sasquatch breeds, hags and little people, just not the ones that add nothing new and which are just Duende #100 and hag #50, there are a couple of awesome sasquatch types but others are just 100% the same.

I never was much of an overlapping guy I guess, never added x-men with the same powers as others to name a curious example.

Have they added a Midge Pixie yet? In fiction and legend the pixies were always tiny, not small.

A psychopomp psychopomp would be nice to have.

I know it will never happen but I still want toy and food/candy based monsters like toy solders, gummy bears, jack in boxes, candy cane golems, caramel oozes, doll golems, gingerbread men, etc.

Adaptive Learning (Ex) A Maintenance Robot has a number of skill points equal to 2 + its Intelligence modifier per Hit Die, and treats Craft and Profession as class skills. In addition, a Maintenance Robot has a number of bonus skill ranks equal to its Hit Dice that can be reprogrammed to apply to any one skill—these ranks can’t be split among multiple skills and must apply to one skill. A Maintenance Robot can change what skill these bonus ranks apply to up to once per day by concentrating for 1 minute, during which time it can take no other actions. Rather than spend these bonus ranks on a skill, a Maintenance Robot can choose to devote them to any skill needed such as programming or systems analysis. All Maintenance Robots are automatically proficient with all simple weapons. If a simple weapon is available, it will use it and skip the -4 for an improvised weapon.
Charge Weapon (Ex) Any metal weapon wielded by a Maintenance Robot becomes charged with electricity and deals 1d6 additional points of electricity damage on a hit.
Nanite Repair (Ex) A Maintenance Robot’s nanites heal it, restoring a number of hit points equal to its Hit Dice every hour (4 hit points per hour for most Maintenance Robots). Once per day, as a full-round action, a Maintenance Robots can heal itself or any robot it touches of 4d6 points of damage.

Maintenance Robots can talk. If spoken to they will reply in a cheerful, insincere voice. If told the reactor core is going critical, they will chirp ,”That’s one of my prime functions”, and go push in the control rods till it runs normally. Although they have plenty of room in their body cavity, they tend to use treasure to repair stuff, so keep that in mind. Their actual names are MR plus a 6 digit number, but they will accept nick names such as Pinball, Odd Job, Torchy, or whatever.

I think I made some mistakes. Tell me what to correct on my homebrew file.

Also, more robots, like this one.

I'd love to see some equivalent of 2 edition's Zaratan. There's nothing like a turtle so large its shell is essentially an island.

Simeon wrote:

Isn't that the immense tortoise? Since it never stops growing, it could easily be island-sized.

There is the Aspidochelone which is in AP vol. 27 though that would still be 3.5.

A touch of Strange

A fun world/project i've found, many monsters from myth are used, while their descriptions are very different from most myths, many fun myths (such as Eintykara and Stray Sod) can be found among the pages.

Fun read and many cool monsters and ideas for Bestiary 6.

For my taste however too much humanoids and vampires, but many other creatures are cool.

Also I want multiple smaller zaratans:

Zaratan
- Coast Zaratan (These giant monstrous Archelon-like turtles have a small reef or island on their shells which they use to attract prey with, they live in the sea and on beaches.)
- Bog Zaratan (The most aggressive of Zaratan, these giant Alligator Snapping Turtles have a small rocky island on their backs and live in swamps and bogs.)
- Oasis Zaratan (These desert land turtles have a small oasis on their shells, which lures thirsty creatures towards their doom.)

Increase the size, change the environment to aquatic, and you have a Zaratan.

It's... already Colossal :P

I prefer the Zaratan(or similar creature) to be a magical beast with some interesting abilities. Maybe something like the lion turtle in Avatar the last airbender. A giant monster that grants kineticist abilities to people would be interesting.

Handing out traits from a core class via monsters is....not really in keeping with the design ethos to date.

Especially since the A:TLA bit you cited wasn't really about bestowing new power, but rather teaching how to use it.

Furthermore, the Zaratan isn't really built for that role- it's built to be the "oh crud, this isn't an island, runnnnn!" dealie.

Council of Thieves has a giant island turtle in one of it's bestiaries (What Lies in Dust, I believe)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

According to book of creatures, the Zaratan (more properly Saratan) started out as a giant CRAB. Giant monstrous island crab is way way more unique and interesting to another island turtle

captain yesterday wrote:

Do you mean the Aspidochelone? It looks like it's a whale instead of a turtle, though.

Ha! I remembered it wrong, thanks!

I didn't say it granted kineticist powers to anyone, it is a good plot device for a character's origins or a special ability for a quest. The idea that you have to search for a legendary creature that looks like an island is interesting.

MMCJawa wrote:

I'm kinda bummed the Z/Saratan changed that much, so I keep with the Z (there are FAR more creatures with an S letter than a Z) instead of with the S and I keep with the turtle, as I have Karkinos, Kamikiri, Traîcousse, Sandwalker and Ushi Oni for the crab/spider crab roles, but very few turtle based monsters, yes Kappa and Suiko have turtle features but not really turtles, Dragon Turtle check but that is only 1 vs numerous crabs.

I think it suits turtles more to have an island on their back than crabs.

So in this case I ignore the real Saratan and rather see an Island Turtle, but not a colossal one. more like this awesome Snapping Turtle thing, but then with small rocks and trees on its back. Turning it into a more use-able creature and less like a look-how-big-that-thing-is-mom-AWESOME type of monster.

There is an island whale in pathfinder, but not an island turtle, don't really count the immense tortoise.

I'm also for the Shadhavar staying the carnivore I knew it to be and also i'm rather VERY happy that the Pyrausta turned out to be a insect dragon, and not a dull insect. Same with Almiraj being a carnivore and not a wussy.

Awa Hon Do (or rather just Awahondo) is a very obscure creature from Native American myth, this is actually the first cool picture I see from one, though A Touch of Strange uses them as giant termites and Final Fantasy uses them as walking sticks.

I want the Awahondo to be a spiritual Emerald Cockroach Wasp type of creature, with the ability to become like a spirit(incorporeal) and its sting corrupts the soul.

The victims slowly and painfully loses its soul which fades away out of the body and becomes a spectre (or similar ghost creature) and the body becomes a zombie-like slave for the Awahondo, maybe to lay its spirit eggs in or just to protect it.

OR

The corpse is used to lay the eggs in and the Spectre/Soul becomes a guardian for the Awahondo.

Also the Awahondo has the mandibles of a Tiger Beetle, which is able to bite the very soul, so it can actually bite incorporeal creatures as easily as fleshy creatures.
