Everyone, I am tired of [common messageboard trend]. This [very old messageboard tendency] is a new and unwelcome phenomenon which I suspect is a consequence of failing morals in Paizo's younger generation.

My complaints include, but are not limited to:

1. I am tired of people saying that [common argument that remains fairly popular and may well have validity to it]. Have these people considered that [something which has been pointed out to them many times before]? Seriously, are we done with [thing we aren't ever going to be done with] yet?

2. Passive-aggressive threads, which I feel [ironic complaints].

3. Lack of civility from f$*$ing moron idiot powergamer special snowflake [insult] [insult] [insultinsultininsulinsatinsultansullivantherat] is a dreadful blight on these forums.

4. FORUMS ARE WAY TOO LONG!!!

5. Repetitive threads are really getting rather repetitive. To clarify, they happen many times doing the same thing. I know some doubt this trend, but it can be easily proven by the large amount of repetition in threads of late.

6. Global warming. I don't like it. Have we discussed this yet?

7. Is it just me, or does [unrelated thing that bothers me about how the system is designed or how other people play the game] suck?

8. Threads getting [obvious foreshadowing] by the mods.

9. [Obvious, no-brainer easy target].

#. [ripoff of Generic Post thread]

I hope that in this post I have finally laid these matters to rest.

Spoiler:
Despite outward appearances, this thread isn't specifically targeting its Neutral Twin. I just couldn't resist the gag. Actually, you could see this as an expression of support—a tongue-in-cheek one, of course. After all, the "These forums are getting repetitive" threads aren't exactly new themselves. :P

Oh come on! We only have like six of those threads. And only one at a time. That's nothing compared to the quantity of threads on other subjects. There have been more than six 'rollplaying vs magic tea party' threads going at the same time!

[Implication that everything else in your post is invalid, by virtue of appearing next to the 4th thing you listed.]

[Generic insults]

[Passive Aggressive suggestion that KC should use the forum search.]

[Claim that Kobold Cleaver only says what he says because he is a drooling Tolkien fanboy. After all, he used 'halflings'.]

Sounds like Kobold Cleaver hates our first amendment right of freedom of speech. If you don't love America why don't you go back where you came from? I'm assuming that place is Germany. Nazi Germany. I wouldn't be surprised if KC is Hitler's Paizo account.

It's not that I don't love America, it's that I don't love a spellchecker that Americanises my words.

Until there is a Gripes/Issues/Rage subforum, with all the all-time unfavourites as sticky threads, ongoing repetition will continue to go on repeating continuously.

Just imagine: ranged sneak attacks, summoners, gunslingers, exotic weapon proficiency, martial/caster nice thing discrepancy, all of them laid out in a target range of rage.

[disclaimer: this is not to suggest that recent gripe threads, which I was admittedly present in, were not perfectly coherent and reasonable places to be, but should be taken as consonant with the comical exaggeration already present in this present thread]

[Long argument why this thread is baseless]
[Badly typoed example]
[Passive agressive end statement to try and invalidate replies]

Global warming is clearly a communist conspiracy.

Just ask yourself who benefits.

Russia has a shortage of warm water ports, a lot of non-arable tundra, and exports fossil fuels. They would benefit hugely at the expense of most other nations.

It's pretty good for Canada too, but who ever heard of a Canadian conspiracy?

Atarlost wrote:

If anything, that should make them our prime suspects. Look at them up there, trying to create a national identity where they're only famous for Canadian bacon, Hockey, mounties, and inventing snow. I see through their guise (gives Canada the evil eye).

It's an established fact that meta-threads (by which I mean, threads about threads) reduce the quality of any board on which they're posted. The reasons are two-fold: Meta-threads are just complaints put in long form (and complaining is generally unhelpful), and meta-threads are reactionary by their very natures (which often draws the ire of the people the meta-thread is meant to address, which just devolves into complaining about complaining). Anyone who wants a higher quality of threads and posts should be part of the solution by providing those things themselves instead.

A meta-thread about meta-threads is no less a meta-thread.

Dark Archive

I agree and have a completely related complaint: it's so annoying how helpful and responsive the developers of this game are, and how they always try to spoil the players fun. They come in using heir FAP's to make my legitimate builds not work anymore, then my DM looks happy because now I can't instagib everything. I hate that guy! Who does he think he is, telling me what MY character does, and saying that he is ot the sexiest man in the universe solo all the goddesses don't want him and give him free re-rolls. Also, my character is totally based on me in real life and I am a black belt in tae-kwon-do so I should get the entire tiger style feat line along with improved unarmed strike for free. I hope that my totally coherent post that isn't a block of text will be given serious thought, and that you will all favorite it immediately.

TL;DR I hate you Dad!

I think you should make a thread about that.

Isn't that the point? In they're infesting the thread they aren't on your lawn are they? ;)

Did someone say 'meta'? Ugh, that's such an MMO word. Anyone who types the word 'meta' should go play MMOs instead. Of course, I used the word meta as well, but obviously I am immune to my own demands because I am a Superior Lifeform.
I'm pretty sure smurf Hitler made meta-threads.

Liberty's Edge

Or KC can do who's myself or others do. Ignore or leave s thread ere not interested in reading or being part of. Unless one has a gun at his or her head no one is forced to read let alone acknowledge every thread. Might as well be a vegan and go on a website that deals with meat dishes and complain that they only talk about meat.

But if he ignores threads, then he doesn't get to make fun of people and make some truly fantastic jokes at a thread's expense. And really, that would just be an unbearable loss for the world.

Quick! Make fun of the person who doesn't get it!

Well, unless Memorax's GM is Rhedyn, who banned getting it a long time ago.

Liberty's Edge

It just strange that somehow it's implied that a poster is forced to read let alone participate in a thread. Just like a poster is somehow forced to use new material. I ignore most if not 80-90% of the threads. Their too many IMO and I don't see the need to participate in everyone.

I suppose so. I saw the less not good part and thought maybe KC had found a way to keep people from being awful to each other on the internet and was going to put him up for sainthood.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

KC's sainthood application: Realize that people take these issues seriously, and that as the Paizo community gets larger, arguments are going to steadily become less consistently civil. All we can do is attempt to prevent incivility from festering by ourselves remaining friendly, honest, and sincere, even if the people we are talking to are "repeating" arguments we're tired of hearing. Our goal should be to foster good conversation, setting an example for those who would rather take the quick-and-dirty approach to making themselves heard.

Sarcasm, "parodies" where we mock the other side, and any sorts of insults just aren't acceptable in a conversation about a game. That we allow ourselves to be lost in anger and snideness over such trivial matters is a poor indicator of how we would handle actually important ones.

The trouble is, everything I just said is stuff we already know. Basic humanity stuff. We just ignore it whenever we get especially frustrated. This is why the only way a kobold gets "canonized" is when "fodder" is the next word in the sentence.

That makes you Thread Hitler. Quick! Someone get SKR's sword of killing thread Hitler!

When someone makes a new thread repeating an old message, it's repetitive and lazy. When someone posts on an old thread, it's thread necromancy (and often ignored, as people are more likely to notice posts on new threads than old ones).

Just idle reflection.

Sorry, but this sounds like a dumb way to run an Internet. Internets don't reach full sentience until they reach their hate-filled bile maximum. Being civil will do nothing but destroy the Internet. WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO DESTROY THE INTERNET????????

Na uh! Raise Thread is part of Thread Conjuration, not Thread Necromancy. And I've totally never made this exact statement before!

KC is trying to prevent SmurfNet from gaining sentience. All of this has happened before, and all this will happen again
