No idea. I assume they just drink lots and lots of it.

Ignore Kullen, they are clearly either insane or allergic and bitter. Peanut butter is wonderful. As for maple syrup, imagine a much thinner cross between honey and vanilla and that's... close. You want actual maple syrup, not 'pancake' or whatever.

If you want to be a gourmand about it, you probably want Grade B maple syrup. Which is counterintuitive, since Grade A is usually the good stuff.

I'd also add that I prefer peanut butter that's just ground up peanuts rather than the more commercial mostly sugar/corn syrup versions.

It's all Grade A now. Hama, just be aware that the darker the syrup the later in the season it was harvested and the stronger it will taste.

Good to know. I've already mastered the art of making American pancakes :) So I wanna try them with maple syrup.

It's ridiculously expensive here though. Dunno why.

Lack of sugar maples

Because almost all of it is consumed in North America.

But you can blame the Germans, they're the biggest importer of it after Japan.

Any grade will go good on pancakes or similar uses like yogurt or porridge or over vanilla icecream. The really light stuff should only be used for that as its too delicate for baking, marinating, glazing, candy making, etc.

Mass-produced pre-sliced bread does, but there are several bakeries that are either stand alone or contained in groceries that have fresh bread without high sugar content.

Even homemade bread generally includes some sugar for the yeasts to eat.

But not Rey's Instant Bread. That stuff is pure midichlorian infused goodness. Goes great with blue milk!

Interesting. Our bread must taste sour to you guys...

That also is regrettably true. And it's very hard to find bread with any real texture other than "soft mush."

Hama wrote:

Mind you, if you're just using the sugar to feed the yeast, most of it gets digested and doesn't really change the flavor of the bread.

Sour taste tends to come from a different process, not just the lack of sugar.

That said, basic American white bread has way more sugar (or actually corn syrup) than is needed for that.

It's not actually hard to find good textured or non-sugary bread, it's just not the most common mass produced variety.

Actually, the regulatory body in charge of this has changed the grading system to include the high-quality-dark-syrup-that-used-to-be-in-grade-b in grade a.

I'm not sure where you are from, but you think that's crazy...you should give marmalade and peanut butter a try some time.

That's a weird experience...

Or even weirder...Marmalade and Honey!

and now, we are totally off topic.

Understandably I think I just realized why Anakin was so angry...he couldn't find any Marmalade.

Anakin was angry because he had Space *insert your deity of choice* as his father and a mother that worked 168 hours+ a given week (tough being a slave, and all).

And to top that off, Anakin built this (in his mind) awesome protocol droid that Mom could use to do her job and her response? Apparently "Meh, you don't understand how hard my job is, kid. Why don't you go do something useful like, win a (pod) race or something?"

Not to mention that the Skywalker bloodline is one *horrible* family to be born into.

As a Skywalker, you:

Kill at least one parent (either through neglect of family ties or actively).
Get at least one limb chopped off if you actively use a lightsaber.
Are an ace pilot intuitively, but the GM only lets you use that skill in a mythic battle scene.
Whine and groan about your fate to the annoyance of others.
End up looking worse than Sir Alec Guinness (R.I.P.) by the time you're done.

I don't think marmalade's going to help that lethal concoction, honestly?

Man, now I want a nice belgian waffle with peanut butter and maple syrup on it.

I will say there is a difference in flavor/sweetness between different brands/styles of peanut butter. I'm personally a fan of Skippy crunchy. After that, I'll eat Skippy creamy, but I refuse to touch Jif, Peter Pan or (ugh) Smucker's peanut butter.

I'll also second the fact you want actual maple syrup and not pancake syrup (which is just corn syrup with artificial flavors and color added.)

Peter Pan Honey Roasted Crunchy is great, although I like the Skippy as well.

So if you're a woman in the Skywalker line, that's what was being aimed for, but the folks manipulating their destiny are too chauvinist to realize that women can kick butt?

Mind blown.

I don't think I've ever had Peter Pan Crunchy (didn't even realize it existed) so perhaps I judged the brand unfairly.

Of course, my son has a peanut allergy, so having peanut butter of any kind in the house is ancient history at this point.

At least it's Skywalkers have an easy time dealing with grief...

"Those people who raised me all my life are dead? Well... Guess I'll go on an space adventure with that old man I barely know..."

"My whole home planet was destroyed? Nooo!!! Eh... I'm all better now. Time to kiss the handsome scoundrel... And my brother!"

XD

Of course... That's still better than how Anakin dealt with grief... So... Progress?

I'm pretty sure there was some EU thing where a ghost of Darth Bane appeared to Sidious, and...nagged him for breaking the Rule of Two. No other punishment occursed, Palpatine just got told off by a long dead guy with no power to stop him.

She was adopted and raised on Alderann. Naboo wasn't invented until the prequels.

I think the diplomatic mission (which was probably just a cover story anyway) was from the Senate to Alderann.

Meh... Leia had her issues too. If not for C3PO and Jar Jar, I'd rank her as 'most obnoxious in the galaxy'.

IMO Boss Nass was way more annoying than Jar Jar (or anyone else), though he got less screen time and was thankfully absent from episodes II and III.

I have done my unclely duty and have taken my nephew to see Star Wars. We wore our Star Wars shirts and I answered Star Wars questions and got him Star Wars candy and we went in search of Star Wars toys afterwards. He plans to design the pop-up/drop-down guns that I want on my car, he fell in love with the scene where the gun dropped down and started picking off enemies.

Liberty's Edge

You wore the shirt of the movie you were going to see?

Don't be that guy Freehold, and don't tech your nephew to be that guy.

Never realized wearing an appropriately-themed shirt to a movie was "being that guy." Seems pretty common around here.

I understand the basic shirt logic and protocols but am I allowed to go shirtless to the beach if I want to get laid?

I think they were just teasing.

Hama, speaking of peanut butter, I used to eat the worst possible concoction in the world. When I was young I ate like this Asian peanut butter with this Belgian mayo (don't think anything in America comes close to quality and taste) with fried bananas, the bread was normally fried as well and my God it was amazing combo I did not know any better.

(I think street crack you pick out of a dead rat's back carcass is healthier for you than that food combo.)

They were attacked over Tatooine, so if they were going from Coruscant to Alderaan, they went the wrong way...

It's not the wrong way if you're on your way to pick up a dignitary like Obi-wan Kenobi for a state visit to Alderaan.

Right. I know the real reason she's going to Tatooine. But, seeing as how Obi Wan is a wanted criminal, I don't think that would pass muster as a "diplomatic mission to Alderaan".

Considering Coruscant hadn't been named or much galactic geography defined at the time, it's largely moot.

I wasn't even really aware it was defined now.

Could have been a larger diplomatic tour, with the next stop being Alderann.

I finally saw it. I was... Disappointed.

Spoiler:
It felt like a rehash of A new hope, to a ridiculous degree. Even the start on Tat... Sorry, Jakku. Han in Obi Wan's role, with what that entailed. The superweapon blowing up a... SEVERAL planets. Trench run. Droid carrying data from death zone. Etc etc etc. The next issue is the hysteric dropping of references to earlier movies. Rey digs treasures from a downed SD. AND sleeps in a dead AT AT. Third, and this feels like the most serious issue: The movie makes EVERYTHING a secret. It builds everything up to the next movie. Unlike A new hope, which presents us with a pretty clear conflict, and it wasn't known whether there would be another. All told, it was not a bad movie, because the new elements were good. I guess I wish they would have had a bit more confidence.

Before the Disney PURGE of canonicity, there was once a rather nifty radio-play that did a brilliantly wonderful job of 'covering the gaps' as to why the Tantive IV was all the way out by Tatooine.

Unfortunately, such things were lost with the rise of the new First Order of the Mouse, so alas, such things are only Legendary now.

I rode down to Origins one year with a buddy who was huge into Star Wars and had the whole thing of New Hope on audiotape. It made for a very fast ride, I don't think I slept once despite normally passing out when I'm on a long trip.

I don't drive, I cover gas to make up for my share of lack of driving. Sleeping while driving is bad.
