Any current information on when Con tickets are available?

I'm looking into plane tickets for me and my son, trying to recall the schedule of things at PaizoCon. Am I correct in my recollection that on Monday there is only a morning session, which ends at 1:00?

And when do things typically get started on Friday? In past years, we've flown up from Cali early Sat morning, but I'd like to get in Friday evening this time.

Liberty's Edge

Speaking of tickets, anyone recall how much a ticket to the Con plus the Banquet was last year?

Grand Lodge

The deluxe badge, which included banquet ticket, cost exactly $100. Just checked my order history.

What was the banquet menu last year?

Buffet style.

Meats and veggies with fruits and breads available.

As I recall you are correct regarding Monday and the end time of 1:00. For things on Friday, badge pickup starts around 8:00am, and the first event started at 9:00am. Following that, events started at 8:00am on the following days.

Thanks, Hodge7233! Now to see if I can get us there in time for a Friday night game slot without making my son miss too much school (we're already getting truancy notices because we extended his Christmas break by a week so we could take a longer trip...)

Friday: We open registration around 7am and there is a PFS session that starts at 8am. Many other games, seminars and workshops (run by Paizo staff and 3rd party publishers or community members) start between 8am - 11am).

Sunday: Monday: There is 1 PFS session and other major games. A number of other seminar and workshops. I think the officially ending is around 2pm with people slowly filtering out to catch flights or drive home and events winding down.
I don't recall scheduling anything past 2pm in past paizocon's.
Erik Mona does do a Miniature Trading afterparty at around 3pm at the hotel bar.

Corrected the Sunday/Monday issue

Wait, doesn't the Con run 4 days this year? When you describe Sunday above, do you actually mean Monday? Shouldn't Sunday be a full day of events like Saturday?

PSF??? Probably something stupid easy but at moment drawing a blank... wife just got done talking about psr, hi & hs, iep, ptsd, 504, tpr... and others I can't even recall...

Mini trading after party at the bar... sounds like a drinking game...lol

Dark Archive

PFS = Pathfinder Society (organized play). There are plenty of other fun games and panels at PaizoCon though, so if that's not your thing, there's something for everyone!

I'm thinkin' so, as the main PaizoCon page says May 27-30, Monday being the 30th.

Does anyone know when tickets will be available?

So just wondering if the 2500+ dollars that plane tickets are going to cost me for a flight that returns at a decent hour(and with out a 6 hour layover) would be worth it...who would have thought flying from Michigan to Seattle would be so fricken expensive...

That's pretty high... I don't know your exact location, but maybe you could shift to a different airport? If an hour or two cab ride could save you $1000, it probably would be worth it.

That said, PaizoCon is worth it!

Got my plane tickets, got my room, all I need is the banquet weekend pass for my first Paizocon! :)

Now all I need is the banquet weekend tickets for Paizocon and I'm good to go.

P.S. now all I Need is approval from my boss to have that weekend Thurs-Monday off.

I have a question regarding the schedule. Will the schedule be released for official Paizo staff run events before the open call for 3rd party/ other events? I am asking because I am interested in running a game but I do not want it to interfere with specific panels/ events of the con. I know things are still being finalized and scheduled so please know I am not asking for specific information on certain events or dates.

Sczarni RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32

I'm also kicking around a few ideas for events but would like to avoid missing out on a few of my favorite panels and events.

Anyone up for a tongue-in-cheek fantasy mock debate?

No. Because of a number of boring internal logistics (IE: placing events in specific rooms at specific times because of our own staffing needs and balancing those with 3rd party submissions), we don't have the ability to accommodate this sort of thing. I can say that we will have 3rd party event submission available soon, as well as general details about morning/afternoon/evening slots that may help you make the decision to submit or not. We also will have an open gaming area available throughout the show. I also encourage you to email paizocon@paizo.com with any specific concerns you might have along with your completed submission form (when that becomes available).

It's looking more likely that I will not be breaking the attend-two-years-miss-one-year pattern. My former position was eliminated back in November and freelance work has been slow on the uptick. Unless something dramatically changes in the next two months, I will be missing this year. :(

But I will be holding onto my room reservation until the last minute in hopes for the dramatic to occur.

Now it has become scary real...

Plane seats confirmed with Eticket number.
SpeediShuttle confirmed from Seattle Airport to Hotel
Hotel room confirmed, booked and paid for.
ESTA Visa thingy approved, paid for, etc.
Long stay parking bought and paid for at London Heathrow

and now...

4 day pass purchased and safely on my account.
banquet ticket purchased and safely on my account.

Added my templatefu alias under my real name via the Eticket page, so my fellow RPG Superstar peeps can look me up easier if they want to.

That is it! All tickets needed have now been paid for.

OMG, I am actually doing this!

..... Note to customer account/store people .....

The order system applied my subscriber 15% discount instead of the $10 discount for buying both tickets together - this saving more than I think I should have saved?

I'm not complaining but thought I should check to ensure my purchase doesn't get invalidated as insufficiently paid or similar.

By-product of making other things with badges/banquet tickets easier. The two discounts (AP and $10 discount for purchase together) don't stack and since the AP discount is just a bit bigger of a discount, that's what you see. Hope that makes sense.

Assuming you're staying at the convention hotel, there is a complimentary 24-hour shuttle service provided by the hotel (to travel the whole 3/4 mile to the hotel). You just follow the signs for Taxis/shuttles/etc out across an enclosed skybridge (walkway) and down to a long loading area. There you call the hotel (via code there) to let them know which section you're at. Quite simple in practice.

LOL, yeah, I am going to miss that game big time if I don't make it out. Keep the crew intact. It may be that Ty is off visiting family and will return with a mighty fine hat. ;)

And while Ty may not be able to hit the broad side of a person with that BDG he's got, when it comes to hitting cables and the like, he's spot on ... at least in the end. ;)

Had money saved for PaizoCon 2016, where did it end up going, buying a new roof for my house, sad panda, no Con for me this year, stupid house maintenance.

Last time I took it, when you called the number there was just a recording telling you it was running every 15 minutes.

Also, you can take the light rail directly from the Amtrak station to the airport to catch the shuttle. That's what I've done in the past.

Noted for next time, as it's my first solo trip and I suffer from Aspergers - enough to make it a very scary solo trip but not totally debilitating - I booked a shuttle service so that I don't have to approach strangers and ask around too much.

Not operating very well in crowds and social situations can be a real bind at times, and in a different country altogether, I decided to have someone wait for me with sign and vehicle to make things as easy for me as possible.

That's one of the great things about RPGs/Pathfinder - I get to hear players describe how the character acts and feels and I don't need to "read their body language" to work it out - it allows me moments of "fitting in / being normal" - which is quite a precious feeling.

YAY! Con & banquet tickets acquired. Hotel room acquired previously. Now to figure out how much extra time we want in the area & get flights (and more hotel for the extra time).

Any rough idea on when the call for GM's will go out? Last year RPG GM spots filled in < 10 hours. I was hoping not to have to insanely check the blog ever 2 hours for the next month. :-)

Super Excited now --

This will be my (and my Husband's) first PaizoCon as we just started playing Pathfinder last september. We have our hotel booked and the 4day badges purchased (decided to skip the banquet this time). Don't need plane tickets as we are only 2.5 hours away by car.

We are currently PFS players and are hoping to have at least one set of characters in each tier (1-2, 3-7, 5-9, 7-11, and maybe a 12+). We will likely try to stick to mostly PFS games and possibly some of the panel discussions and such (I really don't know anything at all about what all is available to do at the con) but would love any advice folks have on what to watch for outside of PFS play.

Thanks in advance for any advice/information you all have. We are really looking forward to the event.

I just want to say how much I love this post. I often remark that RPG's allow us to be someone else, which can be a real boon to someone who struggles with self-image/self-esteem/self-worth issues, because we can be exactly who we want to be while we're playing. This idea that a table full of people doing this, describing how their idealized self acts and feels, can also be a pleasure to someone who struggles to read people's emotions - it just makes me happy.

While I've always had a great time playing PFS at PaizoCon (my son and I have been three times, and are booked for our fourth), I wouldn't miss the lottery games. Unlike PFS, which is first-come, first-served, these are games that you express your preferences for (I believe the process is described in a post above, but it will also be clear when the lottery process is about to start) and see what you get. They're often run by Paizo staff or others in the game industry, or just by folks who have a great idea and want to run with it. I've played seveal games run by the authors of the scenario we're playing, and games that were doomed to fail (it was just a question of which hilarious path to failure we'd take) and a game where we all played goody-two-shoes who would only do non-lethal damage - in short, they're an opportunity to do something different and fun. You don't get PFS credit, but in my experience, you don't forget these games either.

So, as much as it might hurt my own chances in the lottery, I'd encourage you to check out the lottery events, then fill in your schedule with PFS once the lottery is run.

Huzzah! I'm looking forward to seeing new faces at PaizoCon! As for what to do outside of Pathfinder Society, I recently gussied up the "What is PaizoCon?" page which might contain some of the information that you're looking for. What kind of events to watch for? The Lottery Events are limited space events where you get to sit down with one of the Paizo staff and roll some dice together, quick delves, workshops, seminars, a life drawing event with people in costume—all sorts of fun things!

Khelreddin wrote:

That game was hilarious. The characters were a bunch of wacky happy-go-lucky misfits.

"Greetings, potential worshippers of Iomedae!"

I think we ended up confusing the enemies more than we knocked them out with nonlethal damage....

Another game I can individually recommend, if it's happening this year, is Logan's Ye Ground-Hogg Inn. I played that back at PaizoCon 2013, and it was a hoot.

Hey Silbeg,

I've asked the hotel to add some additional room nights to the block for Monday so hang tight. It might take them a couple of days to get them open though (and thanks for letting us know)!

Umm, it looks like the hotel is completely sold out. Any alternate options, or should I cancel my Paizocon ticket?

There are probably a dozen hotels within a mile. Everything from Red Lion to Hilton. Looks like there's a Hampton just down the street. Plenty of choices.

I've never been, but someone was saying that last year some of the nearby hotels were actually closer to the 'convention area' than the rooms in the hotel that had the 'convention area'?

Just food for thought?
