So, either I am an extremely slow clicker or there are a lot more people waiting to process their waitlist this year and last. I was hitting the button as the timer expired and still 3700+ in line...

Yeah, this is my first time and thought that I had to click through the button on the front page when it went live, rather than the one on the wait list I already had ready to go.

Cost me two minutes, which must have been 2000 places in line, as I ended up starting at 5700...

Yea, that hapened to me first time. just remember to refresh. It should go fast though.

Fortunately for me, this year, I'm not playing. I'm running 8 slots, and the open slots are for my time at the exhibitor hall and catching up with friends, so I catch a break. This time.

I hit the button at the stroke of noon and ended up at 5624, so that two minutes didn't necessarily cost you that much. I probably had a slow connection due to using my iPad away from wifi, but the screen with my place came back within a few seconds of pressing the button.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Currently number 3521 in line.

I hit it right when it came up and was 347 in line and didn't have any trouble getting my tickets.

I wish you all the best of luck in getting the events you want.

Started at 2,867. Took 58 minutes to process.

Update: 7-00 Norm SOLD OUT in 100 minutes!

Just finished processing a few minutes ago. Managed to get two tickets for each of the Specials, which was the main thing I'd been worried about. Good luck to everyone else.

Started at 3304 and got mine. Is it a higher price this year or am I remembering wrong?

I'm guessing those will sell out on people's second run-through.

Thanks Swiftbrook. I figured it was something like that.

Wait, there is something other than Pathfinder going on at Gen Con this year?

You are going to be playing this year? Very cool!

Grand Lodge 4/5 Global Organized Play Coordinator

It appear some people missed the two hour mark to pay for the tickets in their cart. 8 normal mode 7-00 tickets just found their way back onto the available list!

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5 ****

And they are gone again.

At the present moment there are the following left for the Specials:

  • NORM 6-97: 60
  • CORE 6-97: 187
  • NORM 7-00: 0
  • CORE 7-00: 131

Mike, do you think that there is a chance that you'll be moving some tables from CORE to NORM given this registration trend?

Just wondering... not expecting it to happen for a while, and I am GMing both, in any case.

Thanks!

Dark Archive 5/5 *

Was 3126 at 1215 cst took a min or two to process. Got in 3 specials. Already gming the 4th one,rue

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

I was something like 2800 right at 9 o'clock, and finally got processed right at 10 o'clock.

I may be hallucinating, but I could have sworn one of my wishlist items turned grey right before I was able to pay for it, but I was still able to buy it when my time came up.

Anyone know what that might mean?

Silver Crusade 5/5

If you paid for it you should be golden. Did you get a confirmation email?

I think I will wait at least 48 hours, (or maybe a bit more) before I decide. I beleive you will see the tickets continue to sell over the next 2 months. Afterall, it hasn't even been 10 hours since tickets went on sell yet and current numbers are:

  • NORM 6-97: 28
  • CORE 6-97: 179
  • NORM 7-00: 0
  • CORE 7-00: 106

I am more surprised people don't seem very interested to play kobolds.

Any chance of including kobold certs for only that run of Saturdays special? Because kobolds would be awesome.

Excellent, that just means two months to ponder this delicious idea.

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

Hmm. So, is there like a Warhorn-style way of posting what character you're bringing? Or does nobody know what the table will be like until everyone sits down?

4/5 ****

For GenCon you're generally pre-muster your own tables as the marshalls sit groups rather than individuals.

That said there's plenty of other people looking to group up or for another person or 2 to round up groups. I saw plenty of signs and tablets displaying people's needs.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I'm guessing you're talking about the specials, there's two ways to go about it. For the first, you can try to put together a group beforehand to play the special, through the boards or however you want to go about it. Last year I was approached by Silbeg here on the boards to play through Legacy in subtier 10-11, it was pretty awesome.

Otherwise, you can try and find a group the day of. Even if you get a group together beforehand, you should still check out the hallway outside the Sagamore before the specials. It's a sight to behold, with all those people trying to put groups together.

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

I'm GMing the specials. I'm just signed up to play Part 3 of the Scions of the Sky Key and #7-01.

I think having used Warhorn for the past 3 years I've grown spoiled =/

4/5 ****

GMing organization is easy. You'll get all your table #s when you first check in.

Get to your table ~15-20 minutes before your slot and set up. Eventually a 6 person group will show up at your table having been sent there by a marshal.

I love our pre-organization of all the players, but it's not always the norm out side of Northern California. That said, myself and another volunteer or 2 are going to be working hard the next couple of days to make it a reality for KublaCon.

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

Wow, really? It's so hassle free I figured something as large as GenCon would surely use Warhorn, or something like it.

Maybe I'll just take a nap during those slots instead...

Silver Crusade 5/5

Gencon's too big for warhorn, mostly. Using the specials as an example, I think that last year Legacy had 150 tables scheduled, which makes for 900 players, I don't know if Warhorn could handle Gencon style numbers, to be honest.

Edit: Did some looking and found the numbers I was looking for, this is for Gencon last year:

Total tables - 1,476
Total seated players - 8,736
Total quest tables - 211
Total seated quest players - 842
Total new PFS numbers issued - 1,758

Last year for the Special at GenCon, I just showed up outside the hall early, wrote my character type and level (Life Oracle 9, prefer to play 10-11) and eventually got recruited to a group, that worked out pretty well.

For Bonekeep 3, I posted in a thread about it and was recruited to a group that organized well ahead of time and preplaned many purchases, and what capabilities we were all bringing to the game. We met about an hour ahead of time to finalize details.

Unfortunately I won't be attending this year, but hopefully my experiences will give some others some insight into some ways things can work.

I'm more excited to play as Aspis and Kobolds than the other two specials, honestly.

When I hit the button I was 1100 in queue and it went by in about 30 mins. I got two tickets for each special (non-core) plus two for true dungeon. I didn't think to check how many were remaining at that point.

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5 ****

It all comes down to how much work you want to do ahead of time, and how much do you want to rely on luck. On the tables I ran, there were usually at least a few people that knew each other. But most had some additional players to fill, the table. Was a lot of fun.

I did enjoy the pre-mustered tables I organized, as well. Met some really cool people, and had a lot of fun. This year, my PBP group is organizing to play together quite a bit. They are hoping to get my tables at least a few times, which is cool. I also get to play a couple of games with them.

Gencon Special 7-00..... Missed out damm travelling during the open time....but whats the chances of getting into this using Generics?

Or is it worth just booking a Core Ticket?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

We have done an excellent job of seating generic tickets in the past, but with very high profile events like specials, its a cr@p-shoot. Its always the best idea to buy a "real" ticket if you can. At least then you can be assured of a seat at the event.

Scarab Sages 4/5

Thanks, have some generics but will keep an eye out....

Maybe I'll start my core character off :)

My Friend and I are signed up for all 4 specials and 1-3 of Scions of the Sky Key. It should be awesome! Looking forward to our 1st muster, now that we learned the ropes at last year's GenCon.

Update 6/15/2015

Looks like Mike may have done some ticket redistribution.

Siege of the Serpents now has 77 normal and 4 Core tickets available.

Sky Key solution is sold out both normal and core.

True Dragons and Serpents Rise still have some tickets available.
