Thor-like character

Advice

What would be the best Thor-like character, a bloodrager or a warpriest?
Also if anyone has played them, any opinions on there playability would be helpful. Thanks

Hmm, thor likes to fly and do stuff with lightning. I'd go cleric, personally. Make sure to channel negative energy, refluff it as thunder, pick up air walk, and a lightning themed domain.

And a hammer, of course.

As for those two classes' playability, I can attest that warpriest are quite the bad-asses. The bloodrager is all right, but not better than that.

I want to see this happen. So when the character suffers a defeat, I can smirk and say "Puny God".

Scarab Sages

Storm Druid or nature fang of Torag with the blessed hammer feat.

I wonder if Variant Multiclassing will be of any use for this -- pick Universalist Wizard to get Hand of the Apprentice, but use a really big hammer that you wouldn't normally be able to throw. Ideally add some kind of feat that lets you have a good chance of stunning on a hit (thrown or in melee). Actually, if this could be made to work, it would go a decent way towards emulating the Mountain King of WarCraft III -- just need to add a way to stagger enemies in a radius around yourself with a sonic hammer attack, and eventually become able to turn temporarily into an even tougher stone-fleshed version of yourself. I wasn't a fan of the WarCraft RPG when it came out (idea was nice but they didn't do a compelling job, and D&D 3.5 was the wrong system), but now my interest is piqued.

Silver Crusade

Air Elemental bloodline Bloodrager. Done and Done.

I have a Thor build found here if interested.

Sovereign Court

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My T.H.O.R. (The Herald Of Righteousness) is Sorcerer 1/Magus 9. Aasimar (Angelkin) for Str/Cha (also, not a mortal race). Sorcerer is Tattooed Sorcerer Elemental (air) (for the targetable familiar for the will save, and elemental air for making all spells do electric damage). Magus is Eldritch Scion for Cha based casting (T.H.O.R. is not an intelligence based character, but he is pretty) plus Elemental Air bloodline for supernatural flight without wings at 8. Also, glaring weakness... Reflex Save. But T.H.O.R. doesn't typically care to dodge out of the way story wise anyway...

Of course a warhammer. Since I was not going to be playing around with crit ranges, I decided to completely ignore Shocking Grasp and because Eldritch Scion doesn't have spell recall I focused on Frostbite + utility spells. And Frigid Touch of course (mostly for the spell storing Elsysian Bronze Agile Breastplate).

Warhammer is a +1 Adamantine Anchoring Warhammer. And Throwing Magus arcana if I felt the need to toss it. Which I think pretty much covers all the bases for Mjölnir. Throwing, durable, returning, who so worthy, etc.

I also played with a C.A.P. (Certainly Altruistic Person, Fighter/Monk/Ranger), a Black Panther(Brawler), a Black Widow(Rogue), and at a convention, a psuedo Hawkeye(Ranger). They tended to have Significant Damage, so I went a more support route with Haste, Barkskin (ring of spell knowledge), Liberating Command, Reinforce Armaments, and Battle Cry. If I felt it was going to be a difficult combat I started with Haste + Battle Cry + move into a position to take an AoO from Black Panther tripping something, or C.A.P. to shield slam something into tomorrow.

Lets just say it was a heck of a lot of fun in a recent special with the Avengers on the 7-8 table playing up on challenges and wrecking them for more points. Pretty sure we slipped in 2 additional combats after the 5 minute remaining mark, the last one started at 1:30 remaining.

As far as a Magus goes, I really didn't do anything 'optimized' or 'normal'. But it was a heck of a lot of fun. And powerful enough for PFS.

I like warpriest, magic domain and weather domains give him a returning hammer and it can do lightning damage at level one.
Using 20 Point- buy,

16 str
14 Dex
14 Con
7 int
16 Wis
9 Cha

ya sucks i know to not have the cha and int but buff that when you get ability points for it as they arent essential for him at level one. even gods have to start somewhere. Thor doesn't really rage per say. Thor isn't known for intelligence, charisma MAYBE somewhat important if u are referring to the Avenger, which is the only thing the bloodrager has going for it IMO.
