I think Superman Returns had a great cast that almost saved the movie. The problem was that Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey were asked to be Christopher Reeve's Clark/Superman and Gene Hackman's Luthor. They nailed those parts perfectly, but giving Spacey a chance to make the character his own would have provided a much better result.

The biggest problem in Superman Returns was the kid. Period. That was an incredibly bad plot device that changed Superman from a hero to a deadbeat dad. The actors in the film were perfect casting, even if they were forced to play to the Reeves & Hackman versions of the character.
I find Superman Returns to be similar in a lot of ways to the Phantom Menace. While it beautiful, has amazing effects, and some of the best individual scenes of any Superman film, because of the awful script, it's the worst one made. Including the crapfest of 3 and 4.

Both of the Luthors (father and son) from Smallville were two of the best things about that show, and, IMO, the best live-action Luthors we've seen. At least from the trailer, I don't think that's going to change with Dawn of Justice...

Lex is the only thing in the previews I like.
I'm still wary about the whole project, but I admit I'm more than a little excited about Wonder Woman, especially since we haven't heard her say anything yet. Hopefully her small(?) role won't just be as an eye candyish prop/exposition delivery or some Diana Ex Machina. {fingers and toes crossed}

I fully expect your hopes and dreams to be crushed at this point.

Doomsday
Thanks Hama.
...so, based on Wikipedia Doomsday doesn't seem like a particularly interesting villain to me. Then again, a bland villain can still allow for an interesting story based on how the protagonists respond (I though Voldemort was an utterly dull character for the first five books, but still liked the books). Still, it doesn't sound promising. On the flip side, I am sort of looking forward to a treatment of Wonder Woman with the proper Greek-like tone. Is it enough to get me to see this movie? Maybe, maybe not.

So I watched the fixed trailer
I usually don't do this because it annoys me. But this was really really good.

It's been considered Bruce Wayne's Nightmare sequence since the trailer first aired. There is even an action figure called "Knightmare Batman."

If you put Doomsday in the movie, and he doesn't kill Superman, what is the point of putting Doomsday in the movie.
They are drawing from the extensive DC Universe that predates even us grognards to further the plot/tension/story/box office dollar$$.
I feel it's better than creating a new threat not seen before.

Still not excited by it.
At least now that my 14 year old is going to the movies with his friends I'm not going to be forced to see it.
On the plus side it finally looks like they got a Batman who looks like he can actually fight in the suit. It's the same semi stilted choreography they used in Watchmen though.

Nope. Ben Affleck is TALL.
Also, this fighting is far more brutal. Seems Snider likes Arkham games.

??? What does Ben Affleck's height have to do with anything?
And more brutal? Than what? The R rated Watchmen? Wherein Silk Specter and Owl man brutally and graphically cripple and kill several gang members in a alley? Or the fight that opens the film between the Comedian and his mysterious assailant/murderer?
I think our definitions of brutal are vastly different.
Watchmen (March 2009) also beats Arkham Asylum (August 2009) by a few months. If anything it's possible that the combat in the later games are inspired by the fights in Watchmen than the other way around.

I don't view watchmen as brutal. Primarily because I've read it all before so many times it's yawn inducing.
I'm referencing the movie here as Zach Snyder directed both Watchmen and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman. I'm noting that the style of fight choreography in this most recent trailer is very similar to what he put together for what he did in Watchmen. Sorry, i thought that was fairly clear.

I don't know enough about the other things you are commenting on. However, I'm guessing what Hama meant by referring to Ben Affleck's height is that he is not wearing stilts. You said the combat was "semi stilted" which (I think? I really have no idea otherwise) meant you thought one actor was wearing stilts while the other wasn't. Hama was saying that neither was wearing stilts, Ben Affleck is just really tall.

Ah. I meant stilted as in "stiff". My way of saying that the fights aren't very fluid. Not that they have to be its just not my favorite type of fight cheorography.

I prefer non-fluid non acrobat fights. In other sense, Batman, not Nightwing.
I prefer a highly kinetic and dynamic style with lots of acrobatics, like Nightwing, Nightcrawler, Spider-Man, Timber Wolf, etc. (some versions of Captain America, Iron Fist, etc.) but also like some who just stand there and go all brutal and direct, like Luke Cage, Hulk, etc. (mostly because they don't *need* to dodge and flip around, being bulletproof or heavily armored).
I think it would get boring if everyone fought the same way. No matter how amazing any one fight scene may be (Daredevil's hallway fight, for instance, or the first 15 minutes of Winter Soldier, on the ship), I don't really want to see Thor or Aquaman copying those fighting styles.

I agree with everything that you said for the most part.
For the record when I said fluid it doesn't necessarily mean acrobatic. I'm not sure where that came from. My favorite types of fight scenes aren't really the kinds like in Watchmen or this BvS trailer where it's one guy tearing through an army of guys. I can enjoy those sure but I like the fights between two fairly evenly matched opponents where it's like they're guesstimating their parries and counters several moves in advance. I like the fights where the fighters use guile and feints to set up strikes.
Good example of this is the first fight between Steve Rogers and the Winter Soldier there's a bit right after Steve retrieves his shield from the side of the van and WS still has his knife. WS goes to strike Steve with his knife which Steve blocks with his shield. Common tactical sense being protect from the knife right? But WS knows this and drops the knife to his other hand knowing that Steve is gong to move the shield to protect against that and so WS CLOCKS Steve with his free hand which used to have the knife.
Would it have knocked out Steve? Nope. But with two fairly evenly matched combatants it's about wearing down your opponent.
Is it entirely realistic? Nope but it does show that some one thought about the choreography enough beyond just having a guy just beating the crap out of guys.
But I DO like that for the first time it shows a Batman who can move and fight in the suit. That part IS exciting.
