Liberty's Edge

Goofus always watches a combination of the Dollars trilogy and Attack on Titan, to get into his "badass mood."

Gallant's introductory one-shot perfectly introduced several new players (some of whom would become great DMs in turn) to the game.

Goofus introduces the party to LARPing... by telling them a local street gang is roleplaying the orcs and giving them a standard "slaughter all orcs" mission.

Gallant volunteers at soup kitchens.

Goofus's introductory one-shot perfectly introduced the Brazilian Death Squad to the game.

Goofus reasons that even soup kitchens are better with f+@+ing ninjas.

Gallant brings an actual, high-end, Tarot deck to games to simulate the Deck of Many Things and other mystical events of random chance.

Goofus somehow manages to get four of his players possessed using a deck of playing cards while simulating a Deck of Many Things.

Gallant is a trained exorcist.

@ IHIYC: When the party finds a Deck of Many Things, Goofus arbitrarily declares what happens when the party draws from it. Every time it is effectively a TPK every time.

@CaptainGemini: Goofus is a trained Barbarian.

One of Gallant's players wants to play a Ranger and asks what kind of enemies the group will be facing so that his Favored Enemy feature won't be useless. Without giving too much away, Gallant mentions that the party might be running into undead in the first few adventures.

Goofus decides that in his campaign world, the Monster's Guild (to which ALL the monsters belong) has set up a network of messengers to warn everyone in a given area when a Ranger is coming so their favored enemies know when to evacuate ahead of time.

When one of his players wants to try homebrewing a race or class, Gallant is open to the idea, and works with them to create something they both consider balanced and suitable for the setting.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus shows up with his new "ZOMG Bad@ss" class, and flips the table when he is not allowed to do so.

Gallant, to surprise the GM on his birthday, volunteered to run a game to give said GM a change of pace.

Goofus, to surprise the GM on his birthday, wrote him an adventure to run. The adventure's title is "The Journey of Gooftonius the Great and his Peons."

When planning upcoming story arcs for his campaign, Gallant never makes it so that the plot has to happen in a very specific way. The ingenuity of his players has surprised him before, after all!

Liberty's Edge

Goofus forces characters to behave in certain ways at the drop of a hat. If they refuse, he throws mushy fruit at them.

Gallant taught himself how to use Audacity to create a version of the villain's monologue better than what he could do himself.

Goofus has the audacity to ask crime bosses to roleplay his villains.

Gallant would obey the speeding laws while driving the group to a gaming location.

Goofus spray paints all the speed limit signs between his house and the local game shop so that it appears that he's obeying the speeding laws while driving the group there.

Gallant's Paladin, rather than kill teammates who perform actions which go against his code, attempts to redeem them.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus' Paladin consistently asks his fellow teammates if they feel lucky, punk.

Gallant asked his players if they wanted to play with a critical hit deck, and made them aware beforehand that the monsters would get to use it also.

Goofus doesn't ask, only allows them monsters to use the deck, and keeps a chainsaw beside him for spontaneous LARPing.

Gallant politely informs anyone who asks that his campaigns involve forces of good and justice regularly defeating demons and evil.

Goofus tells anyone who asks that his campaigns are "wicked sweet" and neglects to mention that they mostly involve his unkillable GMPCs solving all the problems that come up.

The wizard in the party is making the rest of Gallant's PCs feel overshadowed. Outside of the game, Gallant mentions this to the player and the two work out a way to reign in the wizard's power while still making him fun to play for the player in question.

Goofus is completely oblivious to the wizard's overpowered feat and spell combo and continues to run a Monty Haul campaign, except for wizards.

Gallant sacrifices the ability to dish out damage in triple digits for the sake of a character that makes sense.

Goofus' character consists of no fewer than five halfbreed templates, a triple class gestalt, and dips in three culture specific prestige classes from three different cultures. He will be able to one shot a Great Old One when he gets geared properly.

Gallant makes a point of engaging the diverse craft, profession, and knowledge skills of his players when crafting his story.

Goofus makes a point of having all of his monsters unknowable by players. Even Bards with max-out skill ranks.

When preparing spells for the day, Gallant always leaves a few spell slots for his Wizard unprepared in case the party needs a specific utility spell to help them out of an unexpected situation.

When prepping spells for his wizard, Goofus can't prepare any, because his wizard has Intelligence 8. His reasoning? "I dumped it to bump my Strength."

Gallant cooperates with his players on their backstories and makes sure to include plot hooks for each of them in his campaign.

Goofus reads his player's backstories and then changes important elements of them without notifying the players that he did so.

Gallant's greatsword-wielding fighter always carries a bow just in case he can't get close to the enemy.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus insists that his Halfling Barbarian "IS the ranged weapon!" and expects other players to throw him at the ranged foe du jour.

Gallant, liking the idea of roleplaying "Two souls in the same body", asked if he could play a synthesist summoner. The GM said no, and Gallant took the same concept and turned it into a Medium.

Goofus threatened to let his murderous alternate personality roleplay his character when the GM denied him.

Gallant does not read aloud from the Necronomicon, having heard of its properties.

Goofus is a personal friend of Abdul Alhazred and helped him edit the Necronomicon.

Gallant will make the occasional joke, but doesn't do so too often in order to keep the game moving along.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus shows up to every game with mic in hand and bowtie around his neck.

Gallant plays ambient noise at his table, to help get his players into the proper mood for their surroundings.

Goofus fires a submachine gun into the ceiling to help his players get into the proper mood for their surroundings.

Gallant always tries to make certain the place he leaves is in at least a good a shape as it was when he arrived.

Goofus can be tracked by the trail of destruction he leaves behind. No one is quite sure how he manages to foul even the very air around him, but he does it.

Gallant always makes sure that he's paid for the expensive components for his critical spells in advance, like Stone Skin and Permanency.

Goofus always makes sure he's paid for the expensive components of all possible spells in advance despite not being a spellcaster.

Gallant always makes certain to return a rescued maiden to her family.

Scarab Sages

Goofus does that too, but it's not his fault if he never actually returns "maidens" - that was TOTALLY the dragon!

Gallant arbitrates disputes between feuding churches, nations, and noble families with Jim Lehrer-like dignity and objectivity.

Goofus arbitrates disputes based on who has given him the most stuff.

Gallant's wizard is always careful not to include allies within the area of effect of his fireball and cloudkill spells.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus figures it'll "help" his buddies make more characters whose saves don't suck so much.

Gallant, despite having faced the boss monster before, made sure to pretend that it was new to him(to prevent metagaming).

Goofus hands out the layout, monsters, traps, and general strategy of the dungeon that the DM prepped for ten hours straight.

Gallant wants to play the Wilder class off of the PFSRD. When the GM looks at it and says no, he graciously plays an official Paizo psychic instead.

Goofus wants to play the Wilder class off of the PFSRD. When the GM looks at it and says no, he says he'll play a Psychic but makes and plays a Wilder anyway and doesn't tell anyone about it.

Gallant always double checks to make sure that he has all of his GMing equipment before heading off to game night.

Goofus looks confused when he shows up without even a dice set. "I thought Harry was supposed to GM!"

"Goofus, Harry died a few weeks ago. That's why it's your job!"

"Wow! The cheap bastard didn't even want to pay for his own resurrection!"

Gallant makes sure that his character is up-to-date with errata before going to the PFS table.

Goofus breaks into the Paizo offices and edits the errata documents to make the rules more favorable for his characters.

When Gallant loses his cool in the middle of the game session, he asks the others to take a short break so that he can regain his composure.

Goofus gets a +4 morale bonus to his CMB checks to flip tables.

Gallant is disgusted by the attempts of clueless corporate types to kick the weirdos and nerds out of gaming and artificially organize a shallow, unimaginative, and monotonous "gamer culture."

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They based "Gamer culture" off of Goofus' testimony.

Gallant managed to pull off a "Powder Keg of Justice" level of roleplaying, to the awe of all at the table.

Goofus managed to pull off a level of roleplaying so rancid, 1D4chan has his character's name listed as shortand for wretched roleplaying.

When Gallant starts to feel burnt out from DMing, he lets the group know beforehand that he has to take a break, and asks if somebody else wants to step behind the DM screen.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus burns his house down and moves to a different country whenever he starts to feel the burn.

Gallant, knowing that half his players would be missing beforehand, ran a novelty one-shot for his remaining players.

Shadow Lodge

Goofus kidnaps all of his players before the game to ensure that the whole party is there

Gallant follows the paladin code in real life, not just in game.

Goofus follows the Antipaladin code in real life, not just in game.

Gallant adopts different voices for the different NPCs in his campaign.

Goofus' players record his flat, deadpan, monotone voice he uses with every single NPC and sell the recordings as a sleep aid.

Gallant checks with his GM before using third-party material.

Goofus checks with his GM before using third-party material. He then rewrites said material after approval to make it more advantageous for his character.

Gallant always keeps a few gold pieces stashed away in case he really needs them.

Scarab Sages

No matter how much gold Goofus acquires, he never spends a single coin of it. EVER. On ANYTHING.

Upon encountering a penitent medusa, Gallant uses his skills in artifice to weave her a magical veil through which she can go out and see the world without turning any of it to stone (except as a fearsome act of self-defense, should the need arise).

Goofus secretly lets out a rumor that the medusa is in fact NOT penitent, so that all of his enemies go after her, turning many of them to stone before they finally slay her.

Gallant goes out of his way to help orc children orphaned by overzealous murderhobos.

Liberty's Edge

Goofus instituted an "Every child should have the right to be tasty" policy. What? They're good eating!

Gallant uses props to enhance his players' gaming experience.

Goofus is forbidden by law to use props after the last time he tried to 'enhance the experience' with props, two players needed to be treated for bleeding wounds, one had to be treated for second-degree burns, and one needed his stomach pumped.

Gallant recognizes the character he rolled is not compatible with the rest of the group, and retires him, rolling up one with goals more in line with the rest of the party.

Goofus recognizes that the character he rolled for a previous campaign wasn't compatible with the rest of the group. 20 years later.

Gallant's chaotic neutral rogue doesn't steal from his teammates.

Scarab Sages

Goofus's Lawful Good Paladin has been known to get pretty assertive when he passes his collection plate around the party.

Gallant keeps his alchemy lab impeccably clean and tidy, and keeps it locked and warded at all times.

Goofus mixes chemicals together from his alchemy lab for no reason other than to see if they explode or smell bad, or better yet, create a bad smelling explosion!

Gallant plays a telepath with ethics, and only pries into minds of the willing to help heal mental damage, or when lives are at stake and no other choice exists.

The rest of the players and the GM at Goofus' table are now drooling wrecks, because Goofus decided to use his newfound psychic powers developed while waiting for a game to load to pry into their minds to learn secrets.

Gallant plays and expy of Toph Beifong.
