So, when you don't or only rarely see a specific item, does that mean it is mostly being voted up? Mostly being voted against? Does it only mean that it is being voted consistently up or down but which one is not known? Or does it not mean anything at all?
I keep vacillating between optimism (because I think my item is among the best I have seen) and fear (because nobody is talking about it and I worry that it is too subtle to please the populace).
I second this. I've only seen my item three times. All three instances were in one day, and I haven't seen it since.
I think, though, about what Anthony said: It's better to not see your item now, and see it later after the Cull, than to see it now, and never see it again after the Cull. (Paraphrasing, of course)
Although, I can say with the utmost and absolute confidence that it would be difficult to find any item in the entries that does what mine does. I saw one item with the same concept, but it was executed with enough differences to allow both of our entries to stand out as something of its own if placed side-by-side.

Oh, damn, twist the knife of doubt. For the first time, I have encountered a weapon that fills the same niche as my own.
On the one hand, I believe my item is more elegant, with much cleaner, more concise language, plus, mine is less than half the price because I didn't pile (as many?) extra unnecessary effects onto it.
However, I fear the fact that this one just plainly states what my item implies could work against me.
Not sure if good or bad: mine won't make people think of nipples without opening a dictionary.
Edit: No! I have to vote for my rival because the item it is up against...generates free XP?! Who...wha....why?

I think I've seen the "generates free XP" item...or there's more than one.
Okay, this item is pretty neat, how often can it do that...all the time? It's always on? What a bookkeeping nightmare!
I've had to compare one item that would violate a 20th level character's WBL guidelines about how much they should invest in a single item, vs an item that can basically cast any spell in the game but is in the price range of a lvl 3 character. (the super-expensive item "won" that comparison btw - useless is better than game-destroying)
If a single piece of magical ammunition is going to cost over 10k gp, it should be pretty amazing, considering it's destroyed on use. Even an arrow of slaying is only in the 2k gp range.

I've had to upvote my item's rival more than once- sucks but that person was on the same track as you so you know they prolly deserve it.
There it is again. I love that item!!
That item has some solid design elements, I just wish they didn't staddle the line of joke item. Also The cone should have been made of caltrops instead.
But yeah that's gotten a mix of up and down vote from me

I have only seen one item that comes close to mine. They do different things entirely, but could be used under similar circumstances and have the same word in their names.
Oddly, I've seen it three or four times and have only seen my own once.

Just sayin' - draining HP is the exact opposite of what armor is supposed to do.
Had a 155 word vs 154 word that was real close, until the second tacked on those last two powers. Shame it was a great idea and tight item up to then.

This last item bums me out...
Excellent opener, well thought out power. Made the power circumstantial which I could forgive, made a power without describing effect which I cannot especially when its under 150 words.
Still up voted it against it's competition but could be a top 32 sword, falls to upper middling for me
Two jokey items. One is just silly (even though it's awesome in its way). The other is actually usable but has a punny name.

But what is this! Strong entry here, but missing the school of magic, although it said "strong" before "(no school)". Sort of thing that makes me question myself as my knowledge is incomplete.

Well I just got to compare one item that steals class features to one that gives a marginal SIAC 3/day. I could see 1/week being useful, but 3/day? What kind of oddball campaign am I playing where I want that effect so often?

I saw one item that referenced Lovecraft in a slightly obscure way, but now I have seen one that comes right out and says it.
