Your shipping time from Paizo to your home

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

My adv deck 3 subscription arrived today.
It was submitted by Paizo on 8th Nov and arrived on the 16th Dec...

I call this a quite long shipping duration.

How long is it with your subscription???

Ps: My destination is Germany.

Mine came sometime last week (was on vacation, so I cannot tell more precisely). My destination is Germany too.

8th November may have been when you were charged, but that doesn't mean it was shipped. They charge you as they print the label but they mail them out in batches, and yours likely didn't get shipped till a week or so later.

Then, there's the international part. Having just shipped something to Germany myself a month ago and knowing when it arrived, it isn't that crazy that between handling time before shipping, and actual travel.

On my order history it said "submitted" on 8th Nov... Doesnt it mean that it was shipped then?

The order being submitted on November 8 was their subscription authorization. At that time your credit card is authorized, which is not exactly the same thing as being charged. They authorize all subscriptions to all their various subscription lines at once. You card isn't actually charged until your order ships. You can see more about that process here.

My order, for example, was submitted/authorized on November 8, but charged/shipped on November 20.

I'm not sure if you are questioning how long it takes to get from submitted to shipped, or how long it takes to get from shipped to your front door. The former is basically a factor of Paizo's business model. November seems to have been a rough month, but the time between the two is also influenced by the items in your order. Orders that are very similar are batched together, while dissimilar orders require a packing list.

If, for example, you are only subscribing to the card game and add no other products to ship with your subscription, your order will (most likely) go into the batch shipping process. It is easy to talk all the "card game only" orders, stack up a pile of boxes all the same size, stack up a pile of adventure decks with the promo cards tucked into them, and have a few people quickly put 1 adventure deck in 1 box and slap 1 label on the box. That makes for less errors, and quicker order fulfillment for those orders.

If, you add additional products to your subscription (like me adding Yetisburg and Save Doctor Lucky to mine in November) your order becomes dissimilar and maybe even unique. That will means it requires more thought by the person packing it, since your order will be different from the one they packed before it and the one they packed after it. They will need to check the packing list and verify that each item on it made it into the box, which is a different size box that then the one for the order before it and the order after it. All that is much more time consuming than simply using the same item, the same box, and verifying by just being sure you put the something in the box.

As for the transit time once it leaves Paizo's warehouse, there isn't too much they can do about that. I think they only offer three shipping methods for international delivery. Customs and other delays are out of their hands. You could (if you haven't already done so) choose a faster shipping method, but if you are like me you are also trying to keep costs down as best you can. Paizo is very fair with their shipping prices, and has set their system up to charge only what the carrier charges them.

So, keeping your order more similar will likely result in your order getting out the door faster. For December, my order was adventure deck 4 only. It authorized on December 5 and shipped on December 8. I choose the cheapest option available for shipping, so it crossed the country in only 2 days, but has been sitting in New Jersey since then. Paizo got it out the door pretty quickly, the carrier seems to be taking a little while with it. But, as Izzy Stradlin and the Bible both taught me, patience is a good thing to have. So I'll wit for a bit.

What we should all do is work on a matter transporter device so that our packages can be instantly delivered to us.

No, that is the authorization date. If you have "drilled" into the order, look for the date under payments. That is the date charges were finalized and should correspond to the date it was shipped.

I'm in Los Angeles and received adv 4 yesterday

Damn... Adv deck 4 is still one month away for me :-(

Yeah, as Andrew said, check your bank records for when you were actually charged, and then start counting the days between then and when your package arrived. Travel time and customs would definitely take longer than the two days it takes for me to arrive at my place from when I am billed (average, it has been as long as 5 due to weekend days, and next day a couple of times, but I only live 180 miles from Paizo).

On my bank record; charged on November 30th and received package December 13th (I'm in France).

Adv. 4 has been charged on December 9th so I should receive it right before Christmas! :-)

When your have only one subscription then your parcel is not held in customs for one week, but i got five.

Sovereign Court

Well that changes things a lot Myfly. When I thought you had one, I wasn't surprised it took so long. With five, I EXPECT it to take that long.

The Exchange

Are you getting 5 different packages, or are you talking about 5 copies in one box?

One parcel with 5 pacg subscriptions... One goes thru customs without being held, but 5 gonna be expensive customs fees ... Ouch!

Mine was sent out on 30 Nov. Still waiting for it. :(
