So, I submitted my item on the fly, only to come up with a glorious idea the next day. Is there a way to reset my submission?

There is not. Sadly, I think most of use have looked at something we produced and, when it was too late, thought "I have a MUCH better idea now!"

Yeah, I think I'm guilty of Marks tip #9: overthinking. I added something at the end that I doesn't do the item any justice.
couldnt sleep as my brain wanted me to know I made a formatting error. I will forgive everyone who made a similar mistake.

Oh hey! My brain was hanging out at your pointing-out-all-the-errors party, too! :)

Yeah, after I submitted I realized that in my edits, one point which may or may not be key, became rather vague. We shall see if anybody calls me on it, or even notices.
I submitted without even realizing there was a forum associated with the contest. Having since realized this and gone through a good chunk of the advice here, I've noticed two or three things I did that everyone suggests not to do.
Bums me out, but I'm honestly surprised there weren't a lot more.
ETA: Yeah, I know that I had to actually register for the forum in order to submit. I just thought... I don't know. I was really tired.

Thank you Jacob :D

Oh yes, the dark side of heeding #9 is the near total conviction that the item is just not superstar enough. At least it has the merit of lessening the horrid anticipation and anxiety a bit. For me at least.

I'm with Jacob. Don't second guess yourself now. Take this time to think ahead...hone those mapping skills and prepare for round 2 even if you don't make the top 32 it's valuable design practice.
Is there like a "Cliff(side) Notes for Map-making?" I mean - mine look better in crayon, right. Yes, I've seen the "review past 'encounter with map entries'" advice. But I'm thinking ... in the last several years, someone has to have compiled a bullet-list of skills to make decent maps and pitfalls to avoid at all costs. Given my 14-hr-EVERY-DAY schedule, such a list would make sure I had a teensy shot at advancing, since I'd say I'm starting my map-skills from virtual scratch.
While it's not a bulleted list of do's and don'ts for mapping, check out Jason Bulmahn's Weekly Grind. It was an in-house dungeon he ran a while ago and just looking at the maps will give you all manner of ideas on techniques. Vault of the Wailing Prince

I can't find it right now, but there was also the guide from SKR that included some do's and don'ts about mapmaking (i.e. have a grid, compass rose, etc.). Anyone know where that went? I thought it was in the Paizo blog but a quick search came up empty.
This may be a very interesting 2nd round. All other years where a map was required it was attached to the design of an encounter. I'm so curious as to what the rules will be for this one. What will the map be attached to this time? Will they assign an encounter? Or a region, or a city? It could be so many things. They could make it very tight (everyone does the same specific location) or it could be very wide (map any Golarion location that does not currently have a map published for it). I'm so curious. I also think it was a great idea to have something with very little text (I'm assuming) for the 2nd round. Last year it was kind of a slog to get through all of the monsters in round 2. This will make the winnowing down to 16 much easier.
