I'd choose to see the good things and know I was doomed to lose them. That way, at least, I wouldn't end up like Cassandra from the Illiad, able to foretell the future and not being able to get anyone to believe her.

The emotional scarring of knowing what ugliness is to come would be unbelievable. In the second situation, at least I'd be the only one who'd lose out, where as I'd be able to foretell major disasters, knowing millions might die and I wouldn't be able to do a damn thing to stop it.

Would you rather lose the ability to walk or the ability to talk?

Talk. I could still write, then, though I'd miss it terribly.

(Also, the other is more likely, for most people, for many reasons.)

Would you rather play a mystic theurge in an all-caster game (no early-entry), or a rogue in an all-martial game?

Also, also: found this thread again! Woo!

Alkenstarian: Talk, I don't think anyone would notice.

Tactics: You are a monster. I'll take the rogue in an all martial game. Guaranteed flankers, no spells outshining my skills.

Would you rather healing magic be reclassified as Evocation or as Necromancy?

Necromancy! (It's where they belong.)

Incidentally, I'd totally take the Theurge. Fun times...

Goddity wrote:
I don't think the point of this thread was to get us to test your home-brew ideas. But oh well...

Actually, it's irrelevant, as this is a PF-themed "would you rather" and that is, by definition, PF. Also, I was just really curious about people's reactions to them, i.e. "would they rather" hence it being perfect for this thread. :D

Anyway, would you rather play as an original Juju oracle (now nixed in-canon) or paladin of Asmodeus (now nixed in-canon)? And why?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Paladin of Asmodeus, because I feel like they must tell some hilarious jokes behind closed temple doors.

* * *

Would you rather have a real-life Intelligence or Charisma score of 18?

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Since I don't know what the original Juju Oracle is like, I'd go with the Asmodeun Paladin. If the only thing affecting availability of such a character is the alignment restriction, I'd whole-heartedly jump on this.

The class that most people see as the paragon of justice and right all of a sudden turned a little crooked, keeping his minions in line with an iron fist and willing to barter with anything for a good deal and a spot next to the Archfiend at the End of Days.

His armor would be cool as hell! (pun not intended)

Would you rather be a caster intended to be in the thick of combat, but not a Magus,

OR

A martial class intended to be in the back with support and buffs, but not a Warpriest?

EDIT: Damnit I got ninja'd!!

If my other score stayed the same, I'd go with the Cha. I'm one ugly mo-fo and I'll admit it.

Sczarni

I'm gonna change my question. I don't understand what I was going for there.

Would you rather: Have a car with a perpetual full tank of gas but no AC or stereo,

OR

A laptop computer that always has internet connectivity, no matter where you go in the world, free of charge, but the battery life of a GameBoy and the screen isn't backlit.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The first one. It's basically giving my current car unlimited gas. I just pop my smartphone on my shoulder for music and roll down the window as it is.

...in Florida, I might add, which is hot enough to be considered cruel and unusual punishment to not offer AC to a passenger in the summer.

Would you rather have charm person as an at will SLA with everyone having a 50% chance to save or mage hand? (IRL)

Mage hand, easily.

IRL, would you rather have sex with someone suspected of carrying an STD WHILE you yourself have a dismal fort save?

Or would you rather watch someone else have said sex with that individual.

(Won't bother describing, just imagine your first crush or something)

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Can I say neither? I really don't like either option, and possibly contracting an STD is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

But if I had no other choice, I guess I'd go with watching. I'm...actually a voyer and I like watching...Don't judge me...Stop it...I can feel your stares through the internet, stop it. (;P)

Would you rather: Save someone's life if you knew they were gonna save millions in their lifetime,

OR

Keep a horrible monster of a person from becoming said monster? (You don't have to kill them, just a firm slap on the wrists or something)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Save somone who would save millions.

Would you rather change into a random mosnter of less then 10 CR and no spell-likes or SU's from the beastiary every day, or be stuck as a sprite with no SU or SP abilities?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It would be sad to be a sprite with no SU or SP abilities and I'd probably be shunned by the other sprites, but I'd still rather be a sprite, I think. The unpredictability of turning into different beasts would drive me crazy, even if I got to keep my mind through it all. (Unless we're talking about what I would rather do *in game*, in which case I'd definitely rather be random monsters! Much more fun.)

In real life, would you rather have a pet pipefox or a pet faerie dragon?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Faerie Dragon.

Would you rather be a tiefling inquisitor in a party of paladins, or an aasimar warlock in a party of tieflings?

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Teifling Inquisitor. Inquisitor as a class is awesome, and Tieflings aren't inherently evil, so the Paladins would have to get over their racial prejudice.

Would you rather order something online for full price and have it shipped next day, or order the same thing on clearance for 90% off and have it shipped in a month?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Clearance. I am patient when it comes to gaming products.

Would you rather have a great gaming crew that meets infrequently or a lackluster crew that meets like clockwork?

GoatToucher wrote:

Lackluster clockwork. I've had both. Groups that get more familiar with each other grow more comfortable and the gaming gets better, but nothing, trust me when I say this, NOTHING will stop a flake from being a flake.

Would you rather have an Awful Good paladin (not a typo) on your team, or Chaotic Evil douchy rogue?

Chaotic Evil douchy Rogue. When we kill him we won't feel that bad.

Would you rather your magic come from Arcane, Divine or the Brand New Psychic source?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Divine, I like that my magic comes with a seal of approval.

Would you rather be an experienced GM for a group of noob pre-teens and teens, or be the only experienced player in said group with a noob GM?

Sczarni

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Having been in both those situations, I'm gonna say Experienced GM for noobs. They're easier to work with, and a Noob GM can be a little easily swayed.

Would you rather have automatic crits with a dagger or only hit with a nat20 on a vorpal longsword?

Yes, you are proficient with either one.
No, additional enchantments can't be added.

Optionally, why?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The dagger.

The dagger is more useful at low levels, where you might creatures en mass, rather than large individual beasts that might be felled with one vorpal blow.

Further, with that dagger, I might play a caster, where my weapon use is largely immaterial, or a Magus, where such a weapon would be a godsend. A caster would likely not be able to wield the longsword in any case.

Were I a martial class, being limited by the low damage of a dagger or the infrequent hits of the longsword would be crippling. I would be beaten to death by the first for to come along with a greatsword.

Would you rather game in person once a month or game online (via chat, skype, d20pro, etc...) once a week?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Game in person.

Would you rather put on a cursed hat that makes you evil or put on a cursed bracer that makes you hear voices?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Cursed bracer. What a roleplaying opportunity, with the voices in your head, do you follow their instructions or rebel, and do you answer back out loud or get funny looks for your facial expressions that accompany your internal dialogue?

Would you rather play a kobold or a goblin character?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My current game has both those, to two different characters. The pixie is the one with the bracer. It's a lot of fun, hearing her fight with the voice. It has repeatedly saved her from mental damage, but, due to her following its advice, she slid from Chaotic Good to Chaotic Neutral.

Kobold. I was actually considering a kobold character on my hour long drive home.

Would you rather be a character with -2 Intelligence, -2 Char but +6 Str and +6 Dex or a character that has -2 Strength, -2 Dexterity but a +6 Char and +6 Intelligence?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

+6 Cha and int.
The mental boot and wit would overcome most need for pysical fighting.

Would you rather be a mid-tier protean or a mid-tier demon (assuming your alingment and personality do not change)

A protean. Less of a chance of being called by some jerkass adventurer who wants free stuff.

Would you rather have the ability to smell nice all the time without showering, or be able to make all the food you ate taste delicious?

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hmmmm. I'd take the good smellin'. I'd still be able to have good food (just not a guarantee of it), and I'd save money on deodorant and some time too I suppose.

Would you rather have your next character be absolutely confined to advancing in only one class, or be able to multi-class freely with the caveat that you could take no more than 3 levels in any one class?

I'm totally fine advancing in just 1 class. You tend to get neat stuff that way.

In a Lovecraftian scenario, would you rather read the horrible truth in a book of ancient secrets, or listen the the truth in the form of ramblings of a crazy person?

Read. Hands down.

Would you rather become a book at the end of your life with your entire life's story written in it, or dug up after 3k years and cloned, with no memories included?

Sczarni

Year 5015 clone. My life may be very different from when I first walked the earth. Besides, it'd be funny to hear my own voice from some really old YouTube videos.

Would you rather find your soulmate but never get the chance to meet them, or cycle through life partners at a rate of 1 every two weeks?

Soulmate as written is when you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the two of you will never grow tired of each other or drift apart emotionally, and the cycle between life partners is where every two weeks you wake up and there is a new person in your house replacing the old one. They don't die, but you'll never see them again and you won't get duplicates.

Cycle through life partners, I guess. Knowing who yout soulmate is but never actually getting to know them is just depressing.

Would you rather be a participant on a reality show, or a cast member of a long-running TV show that has clearly run out of ideas?

TV Show. Guaranteed Paycheck, and less stress due to recycling old plots.

Would you rather be reincarnated (as the spell) twelve times, guaranteed, or have a raise dead effect used on you (as the spell) twelve times, guaranteed. Presume that any negative levels or ability penalties will be erased by restoration, as needed. All this is done for free.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If I get to use the new expansion to Reincarnation, then Reincarnation. If I'm limited to the core rulebook effects, Raise Dead.

Would you rather be reincarnated as a Voidworm, and become a wizard's familiar, or be reincarnated as an Arbiter, and become a sorcerer's familiar?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Arbiter, without a doubt. I like having hands because they're pretty useful!

Would you rather be able to taste spirits or smell them?

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Smell, because smell is a good chunk of taste.

Would you rather have Rovagug or Erastil owe you a favor?

lucky7 wrote:

If they had no choice but to honor it, Rovagug. (The return favor would be, "only destroy things that are evil according to the definition of the good gods, and work to prevent things from falling to evil through non-evil means").

Otherwise Erastil. Rovagug would never honor the favor, and Erastil and I have juuuuuust enough in common that I'd likely ask for something he'd okay.

EDIT: dang it, phone/small buttons! (Counter not working, iPad dead).

Would you rather have 20 levels of Commoner with 10 Mythic Tiers, or 7 levels of PC classes with three mythic tiers? Why?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

20 levels in commoner with 10 mythic tiers. I'd pick archmage, and I'd still be able to have 20 ranks in my main skills.

Would you rather be able to Shapechange into anything in the Bestiary 2, or anything in the Bestiary 3?

2, if I recall. I like 3 better, thematically, but 2 has more powerful options that aren't limited by environment, as I recall.

Would you rather win a superstar where no one else competes or hit top 32 with only 32 competitors?

Dark Archive

As long as I win, I don't care.

Would you rather be a werewolf or a vampire?

Zelda Marie Lupescu wrote:

Vampire. The werewolf doesn't necessarily maintain control of their faculties when transformed, and I have planned for the vampire contingency since I was like seven. Seriously, it's a what-if my wife and I have chatted about many times. (Sadly, she leaves me. She doesn't want to be undead, and "till death do us part", but she did promise to help set up a safe light-free home, automatic bill pay, and the like.)

As I live in a major metropolitan area, finding food isn't going to be difficult. Dress like a tourist and hang out in the worst part of town around 2am. It's like having delivery. Not at all sorry; if you try to rob me at gunpoint, you're gonna end up looking like an empty Capri Sun pouch. No need to work, because criminals carry valuable guns, 24 hour pawn shops exist, and as Blade says, I ain't the March of Dimes. I may do more to lower crime in Jax than the last five sheriffs combined.

Would you rather have Deadpool's powers AND disgusting body/face, or, let's say Jubilee's (because I can't think of anyone with actual powers more worthless)?

Sczarni

So insane or useless? I'd got with useless (Jubilee) because then I can keep my sanity.

Would you rather be an X-Men or an Avenger? You get your own super powers and name, but you're sub-par compared to everyone else, like a relief pitcher.

Avenger, so that I could be in the movies with the other heroes.
However, that question is a FOUL because it is not Pathfinder related. Can't ya see the thread's title?

Would you rather be freely given the backer-rewards of every Pathfinder kickstarter, or be freely given a copy of every Pathfinder supplement that was not funded via kickstarter?

Backer rewards in a heartbeat.

Would you rather play an atheist in a setting with clear god involvement, or play a believer in a strangely god empty setting?

Sczarni

Given both choices, I think I'd go with the believer in the god empty setting. Trying to find some form of hope or purpose when nothing seems to go right feels, to me, like a more RP heavy game.

Would you rather play a game of We Be Goblins with the cast of Gamers: Dorkness Rising,

OR

Play a game of We Be Goblins with the top executives and game designers of Wizards of the Coast?

The WotC execs, if only because the entire time I could be like "bet you guys are really facepalming over dropping third edition, huh? I mean, dude, you had like 95% market share before that action, and now a company you used to pay to publish a pair of magazines entirely about how awesome you are is curb stomping your sales! You idiots!"

Would you rather have the ability to fall asleep at will whenever you wanted for however long you wanted, but the necessity to sleep double the normal amount per week (distributed however you wanted throughout the week), or the inability to sleep at all, but you will live an equivalent amount of time less equal to the sleep you would have missed?

Sleep control? Sign me up!

Would you rather fight the Red Dragon of Blue Mountain, or the Blue Dragon of Red Mountain.

Note that Blue Mountain is in a glacier, Red Mountain is an active volcano, and both dragons are very contrary.

*note I forgot to add "will no ill effects" to the whole "no sleep at all" thing, but I guess it's implied.*

The blue dragon of red mountain. Volcanos make great dramatic backdrops.

Would you rather

probability follows the laws of drama and excitement

or

it continues to work randomly.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

it continues to work randomly. Otherwise everything would be
1. Predictable.
B. Life would become some horrible clash between a soap opera and whatever passes for "drama" on TMZ.
III. We wouldn't use dice for rpgs anymore.

Would you rather:

1. Fight your way to the surface from the Darklands?
or
2. Try to lie to Iomedae with your life on the line?

Darklands adventure sounds great. Also easier.

Would you rather discuss morality with a protean or an inevitable?
