The split score is no longer as harsh as it once was. This was recently added to the rules update in the first post of the thread (along with many other good changes). This goes a long way to focusing almost exclusively on Intelligence with a psychic, if you like.

I'm aware of that but while it may not be as harsh as it was it doesn't change the fact that all other spell casters get to use their abilities and spells from the same score. What does psychic have that is so unbalancing that all of it's non spell abilities and it's phrenic pool have to run off two different abilites?

That remains to be seen, I suppose. There may yet be more psychic-exclusive spells or perhaps other, more powerful class features. I do agree that, as it currently stands, the psychic is at a marked disadvantage compared to arcane and divine full-casters because of its MAD.

Here is a thought from a post I make in the general magic thread
Perhaps "over casting" could be a phrenic pool ability for psychics. Specifically, you can pretend you have the higher level version of undercast-able spell on your list if you spend the spell level difference in phrenic pool point. You would still have to use the higher level spell slot as normal of course.

As a final thought on this class, I wanted to say that thematically it's one of my personal favorites (along with the occultist and kineticist). This class needs to embody, perhaps more than any other even, just what Occult Adventures is all about, which makes the psychic an especially important element of the class lineup.
I think the chassis for this class is in good shape right now, but I'm counting on you guys to deliver some awesome new spells to fully bring the psychic to life!
Lastly, thank you to the development team for all your hard work (especially to Logan in this thread) and for giving the community such an active role in shaping the future of Pathfinder.

Last minute feedback- I am not happy with the Psychic being "a different flavor of spellcaster". I was thrilled to see the old psionic discipline names as spells, but the more I thought about it the less I liked the idea of these powers being treated as spells. The spell framework has been refined and balanced over time, so I can understand the ease to place these new abilities as it makes balancing the class much easier... there is just a part of me that keeps repeating "these are not spells!" Overall, I think the design is solid (especially now that some of the more obvious issues have been addressed).

This isn't an errata.
From the spellcraft skill:
Identifying a spell as it is being cast requires no action, but you must be able to clearly see the spell as it is being cast, and this incurs the same penalties as a Perception skill check due to distance, poor conditions, and other factors.
The thing is, in 3rd/3.5 the rule was that you needed to see/hear the Somatic and Verbal components of the spell. In Pathfinder you need to see the spell as it is being cast.
As such, in order to see the spell, the spell must have something you can see. Thus all spells have a visual component that is not part of the V, S, M, or F quartet that can be used to identify the spell.
Even if one cannot identify the spell, it is obvious that you are casting spell, even if you are using Silent and Still Spell.
