... So do the DSP writers think that in Ultimate Path of War, they might put in their classes for the Varient Multiclass Rule?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Wait for DSP Unchained.

So, a long wait. Dang it. ;-;

... DSP Unchained...? Seriously?

Fury of the Tempest wrote:

Given the amount of material they have in UltPsi and PoW now, and how niche VMC is, it makes significantly more sense to make a book of it all combined for people who want the alternate rules.

... Well that does make sense I suppose... probably cover Psionc, Martial Adept and Akashic classes for VMC all at once, as well as Combat Stamina and Tricks for all the Combat Feats they have released. Hmmm... what else...? Dynamic Magic Item Creation for Psionic and Akashic items? Eoteric components? Scaling Items?

Either way, probably not going to happen for a year or three

Sorry for the double post, but no one else is really poisting that much...

Elric was the one doing the Path of War class guides right? Are we going to have to wait until Path of War Expanded out for them to be updated with the new material, or should someone else take them up?

Basically every other post in the guides thread is me explaining that the guides will be updated after PoW:E is finished. I still need other people to write parts of them though because I won't do guides for anything I wrote (Which is most of the archetypes, probably zealot at this point, Sleeping Goddess, Mithral Current, Tempest Gale, Landsknecht, Phoenix Champion and most of the feats although they may be an exception).

Ah right... sorry, sorry. I hadn't checked the guide's thread itself... probably should of checked it sorry.

... Wonder if I could make a guide myself... or help with them...

There's a list of stuff that needs done on the first post of that guide thread. And if you want to write your own guides on anything else go right ahead. I don't have exclusive rights or anything.

I think the forum swallowed your post, and now I live in terrified anticipation of learning it.

I believe DragoDorn was just correcting your code to link directly.

Well, I love those two chapters...

I don't remember Glass Hammer through...

So folks, an announcement: Mourners is reaching its close. If things go how I think they're going (seat-of-the-pants writing, weeee), there's two, maybe three updates left until Aisling & Anastasia's story has been told. Figured here, before the climax, might be a good time to ask how folks feel it's gone, their thoughts on the characters & plot, field questions, that sort of thing. What're your thoughts? Questions? Feelings? I am literally dying to know.

Really liked the depiction of harbingers - the sisters feel very different as characters as well as a character class (does that make sense?).

The paladin interacting with the rest of the scum is a great metaphor for a pathfinder player being introduced to 3rd party - both the character and the player get their eyes open to completely new possibilities.

Didn't quite like the romance bits.

What's coming for the last battle? Something else from the PoW:E? Maybe a monster from the Psionic Bestiary?

It's ben a fun ride.

I noticed that there has been almost no feedback on the Martial Traditions to be included in Path of War: Expanded.

I decided to look into them and found that the lore and Oaths are all both cool and pretty reasonable.

The allegiance benefits though range from stuff like

some Allegiance benefits:
Cirque de la Fumée (Tempest Gale):In addition to access to the Tempest Gale discipline (exchanging a discipline of their choice), Harlequins of the Cirque de la Fumée do not provoke attacks of opportunity for making ranged attacks while threatened, provided the attack is made with a thrown weapon. Additionally, they benefit from a +2 insight bonus to Perform (Comedy), Sense Motive, and Sleight of Hand checks.

or
Sultanate of Beggars: In addition to access to the Broken Blade discipline (exchanging a discipline of their choice), Sultans of the Sultanate of Beggars do not suffer the attack penalties associated with using improvised weaponry, may treat improvised weapons as monk weapons for the purposes of class features and feats that interact with monk weapons, and enjoy a +4 anarchic bonus to CMD against bull rush attempts and grapples.

A Sultan who breaks his oath (such as by permitting slavery) loses his bonus to CMD, but not the bonuses associated with improvised weapons, until such a time as he atones by meditating for seven days and nights on the nature of his crime, or else by donating 100 gp per level (or equivalent service) to the poor and destitute. He may also find himself targeted for an educational beating by his fellow Sultans.

Which are fun and mostly harmless in terms of player power.

to

some more allegiance benefits:

Reverents of the Lance: In addition to access to the Piercing Thunder discipline (exchanging a discipline of their choice), Reverents of the Lance threaten adjacent creatures while using a weapon from the spear or polearm weapon groups that has reach. Furthermore, they are always aware of the exact position of any outsiders with the chaotic and/or evil subtypes within 60 ft. of themselves and may not be surprised by such beings (such outsiders still benefit from concealment, if they have it).

or

Cagebreakers: In addition to access to the Elemental Flux discipline (exchanging a discipline of their choice), Cagebreakers may channel part of Rumor’s unbridled chaotic spirit into a rebel yell. Once per encounter, as a swift action, the Cagebreaker lets out a wild cry; all allies (including the Cagebreaker) within sixty feet that can hear him gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls for a number of rounds equal to the Cagebreaker’s character level and may immediately roll new saving throws against any and all undesired mind-affecting spells or abilities affecting them (such as charm person or cause fear), provided the chosen abilities allow a saving throw.

Which are on par with some of the strongest feats available through Dreamscarred Press materials.

I know the allegiance benefits are optional, but I know the people at my table would prefer that each Tradition's allegiance benefit be roughly on par with one another. Supposing they were rewrote to all be similar power level would you prefer they all be buffed up to be powerhouses Cagebreaker or Reverent Lance level or would you prefer the benefits be focused on enhancing underused combat styles or fun/cool mechanics like Thrashing Dragon's allegiance benefit?

Pros and Cons as I see them of Traditions as I see them now

Pros:
-Do not cost a trait or a feat
-Give you a discipline that you want
-Give you an allegiance benefit
-Almost all the oaths are very easy to abide by (Hate and kill Demons? I was probably gonna do that anyway)
-Give you something fun to roleplay and helps guide your character backstory

Cons:
-If the DM chooses to he can use the organization to get you to do things
-You have an oath
-It may restrict some of your build options (Hard to be a Barbarian Black Thorn Knight)

In my eye, since the pros outweigh the cons and I don't believe players should have access to super feats for free at level one I would prefer to see allegiance benefits brought down in power level to be similar to the mentioned Traditions. I'd rather be able to tell players that this book is entirely legal instead of saying it's legal except for X, Y, and Z options.

Cross posted to reach both audiences

Love the ending to Mourners, it works incredibly well.

I'm enjoying it so far. I just finished Maid and the Knight. My biggest complaint is the music box right now. I find the descriptions of her emotional state too on the nose, and I'm sort of dreading it being used again later.

Looking forward to reading more!

So... say that the comment about DSP Unchained inspired me to work on it a little bit myself, and I have made a VMC for just about every DSP Unchained class... how exactly is it best to share this? I really wish I could put this up on Gitp, but you know. Tyrannical mods, bans for life.

Google Drive?

Well I did it on Google Drive yes, but how best to share it with the mods? I mean I could just post it here, but it doesn't feel like this page is visited that often.

Well, I have good news and bad news. The music box doesn't come up; in fact, its existence is more to tell you about Contessa than it is to say anything about Anastasia.

Well I mean, dreamscarred.com has its own forums. And the playtesting section commonly covers submissions.

Eh, you know what? More places posted, more coverage its gonna get.

So! Presenting the start of DSP Unchained! featuring not one, not two, not five, but NINETEEN, yes, NINETEEN completely VMC's ready for review!

This post being beyond the edit limit compels me to note that this is neither official nor endorsed.

... Well yeah that was obvious from the get go.

Lemme edit the title to make it 100% clear.

I like it! I made a suggestion on a combat trick use for martial training.

That's actually a huge relief. I was picturing an awkward romance scene involving the box.

I really dug the mystic sword duel between the Ragged Angel and Pirate. Porting between roof tops, mirror duplicates, it all makes for fun imagery. Stuff like that is exactly why I did the Harbinger.

Threeshades thank you, it was awesome.

Also, can the Knight Disciple's Guardian’s Shield count as Lay on Hands for Battle Fevour please? It really sucks that the Initating Paladin can't actually use a feat that is designed to be used by Initating Paladins. It should be simple right? Add in something like 'Special: When you use Guardian's Shield to grant an ally temporary hit points, you are treated as healing yourself for half that amount for this feat' and your good to go!

Actually, why does Mark of Censure and Guardian's Aura both replace Aura of Justice?

I'm sure you've answered this many times but I can't find it quickly:

Will Paths of War: Expanded include the Paths of War content, for those of us that don't own it? Thanks!

I believe that at most they'd include the system rules, but not any of the crunch. If you want the classes/feats/ect from Path of War 1 you probably need to buy the book.

Thanks!

Who said that Battle Fervor was designed for initiating paladins? I certainly never said it, and I wrote the feat so I probably know what I'm talking about.

... Because its a feat, that says 'When you heal yourself with Lay on Hands or Fevour, your next strike does more damage'

Therefore, its a feat designed for Initiating Paladins. You might of never said it was designed for them. But, the feat you wrote, is designed for initiating Paladins, as well as Initiating Warpriests.

The Initiating Warpriests via the Warpath Follower template can use Battle Fevor with ease. so, why shouldn't a feat designed for Initiating Paladins & Initiating Warpriests, work for the Initiating Paladin and not just the Initiating Warpriest?

You're right, it does say that. I don't remember making that change though. It was supposed to be "attack" not "strike." Whatever, I'll roll with it and add some functionality. Side note though, your proposed wording would result in Knight Disciples only gaining a damage bonus equal to 1/4 the temporary hit points they grant. Gotta make sure you watch that wording :D

Huh, wonder how it got to be like that...

And actually, that was the intent. I thought that as Guardian's Shield is a free action, that still doing the full 1/2 increased damage would be a bit too much of a boost. If you don't agree, that's fine with me. Your the developer, you do know more abotu the balance of Pathfinder than me.

So, as of this morning, Path of War: Expanded's Master Document has been sent to layout. 344 KB of just text and tables. No art. This is a big moment, PoW:E is basically all but done!

What a day! What a lovely day!

Now that is one heck of a thing to hear! Guess we'll be expecting the actual document out very soon(tm)?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm too lazy and sleepy on pain medication to look for the post. Will there be a print compilation of all the PoW stuff in one book? Pleeeeeeze?

It depends on many things, but layout is the final step before PDF release.

I don't have that information at this time. We haven't discussed where exactly we'll be going with PoW next beyond planned errata.

Just received what I assume is an update on the Harbinger and the Mystic in my downloads. However, there is still a mistake on the Mystic page; the bookmark link still calls it the Harbinger.

Is this an errata or errata'd update? Because if it is you guys still missed somethin'!

I purchased the Harbinger on this site but am not a subscriber. Should I be expecting an updated version coming down the pipeline, and/or how can I obtain one?

Captain Morgan wrote:

When we update one instance of a PDF we update all of them, so when there's an update for the Harbinger, you'll see it as well.

I have a player wanting to play the harbinger class. He wants to exchange one of the 4 Martial Disciplines that Harbinger starts with (Cursed Razor, Primal Fury, Shattered Mirror, and Veiled Moon) to get the Mithral Current style instead.

I cannot find anything in the book about exchanging disciplines. Can someone clarify how this is accomplished or point me to an appropriate page or link?

Thanks.

The Unorthodox Method trait does that.

There are two different ways to accomplish this. First is the Unorthodox Method trait located in the Path of War: Expanded Feats Document. The second is for him to join a Martial Tradition which offers the ability to swap one of his disciplines for Mithral Current. In this case, the Martial Tradition in question is the Lensmakers. The documents in question are below:
