Special Abilities
Desert Child (Katapesh): You were born and raised in southern Katapesh, in the rocky deserts that border Nex. You are accustomed to high temperatures and gain a +4 trait bonus on any saving throws made to resist the effects of being in hot conditions, and a +1 trait bonus on all saving throws against fire effects.
Favored Enemy Gnoll
Fleet of Foot: Some halflings are quicker than their kin but less cautious. Halflings with this racial trait move at normal speed and have a base speed of 30 feet. This racial trait replaces slow speed and sure-footed.
Gnoll Killer: You grew up in rural Katapesh, in a region where gnoll activity was a fact of life. You killed your first gnoll at a young age when a group of gnoll slavers attacked your village, home, or caravan, and your hatred of gnolls has only grown since then. Something in your past fueled your hatred of gnolls even further—perhaps your family was slaughtered by gnolls, or maybe you even served a few harrowing weeks as a prisoner of a gnoll tribe before a miraculous escape. When you heard that Garavel was looking for brave men and women to aid in retaking the village of Kelmarane from a tribe of gnolls in the service of the notorious Carrion King, you knew you had to be part of the group, and signed up immediately. You gain a +1 trait bonus on attack rolls and weapon damage rolls made against gnolls. If you’re a ranger and you select humanoid (gnoll) as a favored enemy, your trait
bonus on attack rolls and weapon damage rolls against gnolls increases to +2.
Track
Wild Empathy
Scar had been following the 2 creatures for 2 days and 1 night. He was hungry, hot and annoyed.
The 2 gnolls had been part of a bigger group of almost 10 that had attacked the merchant caravan 2 days ago. They had killed everyone. Scar had seen the smoke of the burning corpses and wagons from miles away. He had moved as fast as he could but the damage had already been done. The scene, as awful as it was, wasn’t strange to him. In the last year he had come across several other sites like this one. All attacks from the local gnoll tribe.
Scar touched the scar that had given him his name. It ran across his face from his right eyebrow, across his nose, to his left cheek. How he remembered the night he received it.
He was just a child maybe a young man. It these parts you grew up faster than normal. His father, the merchant in charge of the annual expedition to nearby Katapesh had ordered the captain of the caravan guards to make camp. Another 2 days and they would be safe in Katapesh. How wrong he was. That night gnolls from the Pale Mountains attacked us, we never had a chance. I tried to defend myself and the others, but to no avail. The last memory I have is seeing my father die at the hand of a gnoll barbarian and his pet hyena. Between them my father got ripped to pieces. I ran towards him when a large blade came out of nowhere and cut me across my face. All went back after that.
I woke up 2 days later, in an oasis, my face covered by some strange leaves. When I tried to sit up a giant claw came into view followed by an enormous scorpion. I passed out immediately.
Luck would have it that just after I had fallen in combat a local ranger and his pet scorpion had found us and managed to chase they gnolls away.
To make a long story short. The old me had died on that battlefield. Scar was born. The ranger taught me everything I know now.
I’m a hunter and my prey is gnoll…..and for the 2 gnolls at the start of this little story. They didn’t make it to their second night and their bones now lay bare in the smoldering heat of the sun.

I hope I'm not too late!
Lissette of House Marhaven Sheet Link
Doubly outcast, she focused on the things that she could control. Her own strength, her own deceptiveness and ruthless ability in hope that someday opportunity would present itself.
When the main house decided that there was a need for slaves from the nearby free cities of Katapesh, Lissette jumped at the chance to show her abilities. She led a night raid to the surface to take whomever they could find. The raid itself was a success, but while transporting the slaves back to the Underdark they were beset by Gnolls. What seemed like hundreds of the creatures in a frenzy.
Most of the drow with Lissette were killed, some were probably taken along with the slaves. When Lissette resisted and refused to be bested by lesser creatures she was savagely beaten by a gang of the things.
Left for dead she was found by a trader from a nearby village who for some unknown reason nursed her back to health. This trader, Farok, and his wife, Isbah, saved her life and gave her a place to stay. In her time with them she focused on her new goal, eradicating the gnolls at whatever cost and restoring her pride so that she could return to her people.

Well, in the process of trying to click on the url for Cardboard Tube Knight's character sheet, I accidentally deleted the post I was in the middle of previewing. I have only myself to blame. XD
At any rate, I had intended to post right on the hour, so I would say that you made it just in time. By the skin of your teeth. ;)
Now then, the final list of applicants is as follows:

Now is the part where I tell you all that you have to wait for a little while longer - I have not looked forward to it. I have already looked at several of your characters thoroughly throughout the recruitment process, but it's only fair to give everyone a fair shake. So I will look through everyone's stuff one last time, bash my head against my desk, and have a decision by tomorrow.
Stay tuned!

CTK accidentally added a "<br/ >". Try this one. I believe it's the one CTK wanted to link to.

Any idea around when the verdict will be posted, Mahorfeus?
Hm. Around noonish (EST), perhaps, or a little later. More than likely within 13 hours, at any rate. Just enough time for me to get back from classes, cozy up, and type everything out. Speaking of which, I should really be asleep right now. @_@

The casters might be squishy, but they can do a lot of damage, so be careful when messing with them. Okay, so 3 fighters want to get in front of the wizard to try to kill him. Okay, lets say he survives. He takes a 5-foot shift step and casts burning hands, hitting 3 of those fighters for 4 fire damage each. and we will pretend that another 3 characters are behind those fighters. They aren't after the wizard, they just happen to be right there. Okay so another 4 fire damage to 3 more people. The wizard just dealt 24 total fire damage. The melee people also have to roll to hit. arcane and divine casters can pick up a few auto-hit things were they don't have to roll to hit, just dmg, like burning hands, magic missile, and so forth.

As fun as it would be to toss all of your characters onto an island and have them fight to the death... The Choosening is already at hand.
Throughout the several recruiting threads I have taken part in in the past, the GMs often remarked on how difficult the selection process was. Sometimes I wondered if they were just saying that stuff to be nice, but having now experienced it first hand, holy damn. This has already been quite the learning experience for me. There is some semblance of perverse logic that went into my selections, and I would be damned if there was some other, easier way to narrow things down. So without further ado, the five I have selected are as follows:
The five of you can head over to the discussion thread. I have a few questions I wanted to ask everyone before the game goes into full swing.
And to everyone else, thank you for applying to my game. I am certain that one way or the other, your characters will not go to waste. Speaking from experience, they tend to live on in the weirdest of ways. I wish you all the best of luck on getting into other games.

Hey look, you made it! :P
There could be a way to make it fair, like a caster bracket, a skill bracket, a divine bracket, and a martial bracket.
Not that there's any point now, just sayin'.
Thanks for choosening me GM. I'm looking forward to giving this another go (And not causing the TPK like last time :P)
