Chartered Company: The Torchbearers (Oceanic)

Ye gods, I've been meaning to post this for ages. Given that I think I'm the only one from the whole damn settlement actively posting here, lets do this thang.

Name: The Torchbearers
Motto: We light our own path.
Alignment: NG
Settlement: Sunholm
Website: Yes

Official Wonk:
The Torchbearers are an adventuring company whose founding members are based in the Oceanic timezone (New Zealand). In an effort to gain footing in the land rush, and to help in the formation of a 24hr guild presence, The Torchbearers have agreed to an alliance with the Phoenix Brotherhood in the founding of Sunholm. The Torchbearers do not intend to be a roleplaying focused guild, but we will be making every effort to make our mark and shape the future of the River Kingdoms for the better.

Realistically;
Basically, we're a bunch of (battle-barded?) Kiwis with a good sense of humor and a hankering for tabletop RPGing. Several of us are veterans of EVE (who largely got tired of the toxicity of the community) as well as a gamut of themepark MMOs.

We're taking all comers, as long as you aren't literally a terrible person. Griefers, racists and homophobes need not apply, otherwise you're golden. We're a social guild that supports each other, but puts no emphasis on any particular element of play. Do whatever you like, we're here to help. We won't be RPing in company chat, but that doesn't mean that RPers aren't welcome. :D

If you want an Oceanic company that isn't filled with bloody Aussies (<3 TAI), we're your group.

I've added your Company to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list, although I did not find Sunholm to place you next to. If you have a brief description you'd like to appear there to let people know about your guild while they're browsing that list, please PM me.

The Seventh Veil welcomes you to the community.

Chur kiwi breethas and sistas!

I've thrown my lot in with some happy people (TEO) in the south eastern mountains, but I will likely see you around during the long kiwi winter nights.

If you come to Welly's, shout out and we can meet at a pub or cafe depending on your tastes ;-)

Always good to read up on another Company. :)

Let's hope we can keep the toxicity at bay! Good on ya! Got some kiwis in Forgeholm as well.

Well I suppose we can't all be in the same company, but TAI are always willing to meet & greet with our neighbors... who knows there may even be a Ditch we can squabble over :)

But Aussies are so much fun ;-)

Thanks Nihimon, and everyone else who has offered greeting.

On the subject of Sunholm, I don't think there is much to say. We don't really have an identity as a settlement - we are more like a collection of companies that happened to accept The Phoenix's Brotherhood's offer of co-settlement. This is probably why we are one of the quietest settlements in the top half of the rankings :P I'll bother Jericho to cook up an official description, I guess.

I will take this moment to plug though - if you are a smaller company looking for equal representation and independence in a settlement, I'd highly recommend giving Sunholm a look;

  • The Torchbearers are only four people at this point, but we have an equal say in settlement matters as any of the larger companies (barring TPB - they get The Decision, in the end after all advice taken).
  • You won't get drowned out numerically, either in member count nor in number of companies.
  • We are far enough up the rankings that we don't risk dropping out of the Landrush, and we have been stable in our position since Week 1.
  • Across our companies we have timezone coverage in the three major times (NA, EU, ANZAC)
