I love Walter Sheppard. He is awesome.
He is a great dude, and I am lucky to be his VL. He does all the work and I, somehow, still have my VL title.
I can't even remember the last gameday I organized, or the last time I GM'd. Were it not for his supreme grace and understanding, I wouldn't know what I would do with my time.
If it was legal, I would give Walter my heart, so he could have two and be a superhuman. Then, he could rule over us all with an iron but supple fist.
Lastly, I should learn to log off my Paizo account when I am no longer using it as it increases the frequency that someone might hop on and post ridiculous things.
Sincerely,
Steven.

Wouldn't that make Walter into the Doctor? (Who is also cool like Walter.)

I thank my VL for his kind words. Let me contribute to this thread by the addition of my kind words about my VL Steven Huffstutler.
His kindness is matched only by the glory of his magnificent beard; I've heard it is able to cure cancer, bend light around him giving him a measure of invisibility, store vast amounts of goods and birds as per a portable hole, and prevent physical harm to his person. Were I able to grow a beard half as inspiring, I have no doubt I would already be superhuman and have no need for extra hearts.
Thankfully Steven's magnificent beard prevents people from doing anything uncouth with my account while I am not at the keyboard, yet another of its vast abilities.

Thank you Walter and Steve for the absolutely hilarious posts. On a serious note.
Walter is an awesome VC! In the short amount of time I have known him, I have seen many reasons why he is a VC. I have, sadly, only been able to play at 2 of his tables with the most recent being Vengeance at Sundered Craig and I had to take some mental notes on his style of GMing (it was a blast both games).
Steve is an awesome VL! I would not be where I am as a VL myself if not for Steve's guidance on some of the issues I had encountered before and during my time as a VL. While I did volunteer for just the card game this year, next year I will mix the two and probably Tier 1 instead of Tier 2.
Both of these VOs have been an inspiration to me as a VL and while I may not be able to exceed them, I can only hope that I can come close.
Thanks guys!!

Oh golly! I done goofed. When I left for my niece's birthday party, in my haste, I fear I may have forgotten something.
But what?
Oh right, I needed to log off my Paizo account. Fortunately, my amazing and handsome VC, Walter Sheppard is here to ensure nothing uncouth happens while I am logged in.
I am without fear, for I know that through his eternal wisdom my reputation on this boards will not be slandered, but rather polished to a gilded sheen. So overcome with joy I am that his hands now write these words, and that his eloquence now flows from my digital lips.
So hear me, assembled internet folk, when I say that he is the best VC I could ever hope to have. If he ever has call to draft us into battle against a hellish tide of trolls, let me be the first to say, "you have my sword."

It seems it is that time again, when log outs fail or are forgotten, and all that is left is proof my VL, Steven Huffstutler is a glorious person.
While I toil at work, like some long forgotten Droskar worshiping drone, he shines like the sun. He brings joy to the masses that flock to the gaming shop, his splendorous beard is a muse to the uninspired, and his generosity is ever flowing. Were I able to escape this fate I would soar towards him, akin to Icarus... but I know when my wax wings melt he would catch me, for great is his mercy and understanding!
I think I have found my religion!

Having left myself logged in, I find it appropriate to mention my love for both my Venture officers--Steven Huffstutler and Walter Sheppard.
Let it be known throughout the land my admiration for their wise council, amazing intellect, mirthful nature, and their ability to grow the finest of beards.
I acknowledge my cowardice, craven nature, and confess my love of the color yellow. I renounce my love of Rangers and shields, vowing to nevermore dabble in their questionable arts.

Has it really been three months since my last confession? The time flies when you're in the presence of so much greatness, I suppose.
With our week-long Pathfinder Society convention coming to a close, I find it poignant to once again remark on the importance of logging out of a computer once you are done with it. Especially when that computer is the laptop of your local VC.
Fortunately, my own VC is an outstanding person who would never post anything ribald that might tarnish my own sterling character.
So this holiday season I give thanks to all my outstanding GMs, players, and volunteers that make each PFS game days a smash hit. I give thanks to everyone that found it in their hearts to donate to our annual Toys for Tots donation drive. And lastly, to the pillar of our community I have the good fortune to address as friend, GM, and VC.

Wow. Is it a new year already?
It feels like only yesterday I was sharing how amazing my VL Steven Huffstutler is. The good news is that Steve has only increased in his awesomeness.
Currently he is watching over my game store. helping customers expertly, and letting everyone gaze upon the glory that is his beard.
Thanks Steve!

I can sit here at great length and talk about all of my local VO’s at great length. But that will make you hate me so I will tie them all to the things they all have helped me with.
They have each taught me how to question the status quo, challenge it a positive manner if necessary, and accept it all at the same time: If there was something I didn’t like, I was always allowed to ask “Why is it that way?” If after explanation I felt that it wasn’t right, I was allowed to challenge it and see if there is a more productive way of doing things. If I did not find what I was sought, or discovered that it was impossible to create, then they gave me the space to accept the status quo, even if I did not like it.
Something specific that Andrea B from Central Valley (Now retired VO) taught me, that I plan to actually utilize more in 2015 is just the option of “being there”. Many days when she was at a convention running uber tables, she always found time to just sit and look around and take in everything. For me that has always been the hardest thing, because I have done the “managing” piece for so long that I don’t stop and get to enjoy the games and the people. This year I firmly have decided that I am just going to “be there”. By being more present in the games and situation, I can better support my fellow leaders and also build relationships with my fellow gamers that I don’t get to do.
Lastly, they have all taught me to think and be deeper than the games. A few of my VO’s have helped me in more personal ways, such as reading my stuff for Wayfinder (that never seems to get picked) and Pathfinder Chronicler (which has been picked!). They have never been afraid to call me out when I was not at my A-game. And then they allowed me to just be myself, consequences be damned. (And boy where there some.)
My VO’s have not only taught me how to be a better player, writer, and overall nerd. They all taught me how to be a better person, through their actions and the words. Through how they treat others, and each other. Mistakes and all, I am a better person because of all of them. So yeah. :)
The List of them, just make sure I mention them are Rich F, Michael T and Scott C (aka Xot) of Sacramento. My neighboring VO's are Will J and Josh M of Fresno, Andi B formerly of the Central Valley, Wendy-Ann and John Francis of South Bay Area, Josh A and Pirate Rob of the Central Bay Area, and Mitchell A of Oakland/East Bay

I think I had Walter as my DM for the Special at Paizocon in 2014. From what I remember, smaller frame guy who obviously works out and has tatts. I remember we were stuck in a corner.
From what I remember of the game
A) Someone died
B) I shot things a lot.
C) We fought a bonus Clockwork Dragon because.. we kicked the main guys ass too quickly? (memory starting to get funky on that)

That was a great special. I especially liked getting to drink beer while I had one of my local players at the table read the block text.
I was a little unsober at the time, but I'm pretty sure you guys fought the clockwork dragon because someone hit the BBEG with a save or suck that he failed and there was still ~30 minutes in the slot.
I threw him in because at the pre-special jam session there was an announcement where the GMs were told something like: "this special is still in playtest mode, if something is too easy or too hard, use your best judgement and make what changes you need."
Since you guys ripped through that BBEG like a paper bag, I felt that dropping another mob after you'd effectively completed the scenario was a good way to keep y'all from going stir crazy. It was CR appropriate to the BBEG you'd just axed and thematic with that encounter, so it was a natural pick.
I remember that game ending with the magus finally getting a crit as he dropped down from above on the dragon, exploding it in a burst of electricity that fried all the nearby clockwork bots, ending the encounter. He was so happy because he got to finally do all his shocking grasp dice, then add another 50% because the dragon was vulnerable to electricity.
He was all smiles when those dice hit the table.

What Im annoyed about is that I went all that way, got to play at Paizocon and rarely took any photos there apart from one or two. I really showed have written down the names of people I played with.
YES! Gah. I feel the same way. Sometimes it takes a while to connect people I know online with people I've met in person.
Pretty confident I'll recognize Rusty Ironpants and Majuba if I see them in person again. And, I've figured out who TOZ is. Apologies if there are others of you I should be knowing.....

Golly am I fortunate!
I have not one but two excellent Venture Officers readily at my disposal! One of them even leant me his tablet to GM tonight, a gesture for which I am eternally grateful. In my euphoric post-PFS state, I did however neglect to log out of my Paizo account. Lucky for me though, my VC is a stand up kind of guy and would never use my account for any nefarious purpose, such as posting lavish self-praise in a thread like this.
I wish Valentines Day fell on the 15th, so I would have had a better medium at my disposal for conveying theis heartfelt gratitude.

I too feel the loving warmth of my VO on a regular basis. Even now, in the chilly frozen north of Canada, his spirit keeps me warm. God bless Walter Sheppard!
Real talk, I love my VO because when I let him borrow my laptop he gently teaches me to log out using this thread rather than learning me a lesson using Facebook!

Oh lamentable tragedy! Woe to those that know not the simple joy of existing near the magnificent man that is Walter Sheppard. 'Tis my own greatest fortune to know him personally, and count him among the ranks of my closest companions.
If I could change but one thing, it would be my last name. And my first name. Because if there is anything this world needs, it is a second Walter Sheppard.

As a relative newcomer to PFS is has taken me some time to realize just how amazing Walter Sheppard and Steven Huffstutler truly are. I would walk 500 miles, I would walk 500 more, I would write 1000 sonnets, I would rescue 1000 kittens, I would impound 1000 cars--I would do anything to ensure that my local VOs continue to provide the excellent level of volunteerism that makes Pullman great.
Another shoutout goes to Kigvan, aka: The Kiggantor, for encouraging Walter to use my laptop while I stepped out. Minor mention to Acedio, for not preventing it from occurring.
