At the dawn of the second edition I found myself playing Amiri at Skalcon with a table of experienced and creative players. The scenario involved a research component and it came to light that Amiri had tanning lore, which didn't seem to apply. Through the course of the adventure the gentlemen playing Ezren began an escalating barrage of fatherly barbs about me wasting my life at the beach and how I should apply myself to something more important...
Sun-tanning.
How did it take me so long to catch on?
After I realized, we embraced it and Amiri even adopted gnarly surfer speak. He was the wise teacher with encyclopedic knowledge and lifetime of understanding to share and she was the free spirit that only wanted to experience what was offered by Golarions beaches and waves.
Until combat broke out and it was time for Amiri to do what she does best. The only problem was a massive orrey and a distance too far to close between her and the bad guys. It turns out that wasn't a problem for someone who had spent her days paying careful attention to the position of the sun. Knowledge that I hoped to use repurposing the orrery as a sort of celestial trebuchet to fling Amiri across the library into melee range. The GM met my proposal with a skeptical "Roll it".
20. A natural 20, in one of the greatest the dice have spoken moments ever Amiri had used her knowledge of suntanning to improbably hurl herself across the repository of facts and figures, to rise above mere book learning, flying so high Icarus himself would have plummeted back to the earth, and descending as a valkyrie from Valhalla to triumph over the forces of darkness.
In that moment Amiri understood the responsibility Ezren sought to teach her and he realized that combat was no day at the beach. Or was it?

I do have a fog machine that I've been meaning to install in the party bus...
And more lights
And the d20 disco ball
Yep, just a light hearted jest going along with the 420 theme.
Mostly.
It's also the seed of a sinister plot to decriminalize all of the great material at the end of PF1 that will seemingly never be legalized into additional resources.

Paizo won't actually legalize High Magic but will decriminalize it for home game use.

Limited edition Gen Con exclusive Goblin masks that provided Fort save rerolls if properly worn would take care of most of the problem. That said I work in construction and have encountered mask resistance from educated rational dialogue to alpha posturing backed up with "facts" seemingly derived from beer commercials that have devolved into shoving matches and masks being destroyed. That would be a tough spot to put volunteers in.
Maybe just call this year The Season of the Plague and have characters die if players won't larp wearing a mask.

Or he "lost" his stat block somewhere in the museum and needs you to go get it and refuses to give you any information and refuses to help and doesn't want anyone to find out so he doesn't get in trouble and wants you to pay to fix the stuff that attacked you and lies to your face when you discover he traded it for some magic beans.

If THUNDELIPS! is there I wouldn't miss it. Even if I had to wear a mask, and earplugs, and also probably earmuffs, and some super opaque stare at the eclipse sunglasses, and it feels like maybe a chastity belt would be a good idea, but I wouldn't miss it.

While i am looking forward to SkålCon this year, with the possibility of being in person, I am not quite as thrilled about managing a Con with additional restrictions. I know, my preference will be masks, smaller tables, more space, and if we can manage it, at least temperatures being taken daily. (I know the latter doesn't tell a lot, but...)
I'd prefer proof of vaccination, though I don't know if that's going to be possible, yet.
And with GameHole Con coming up in late October, it becomes even more fun, as we don't control everything, and I haven't started much discussion about how many tables they plan to cram in.
That isn't a no...

Since everyone took those days off, what if we moved Skalcon to Gen Con tine in August?
I'm sure the Skalcon committee would gladly put together a few hundred more tables and everyone could stay at Jack's place. Easy-peasy.
I've always been better at fort saves than will saves.

Just look what Nigel did to health care.
Knowing that Nigel is behind it all has saved many customer service representatives from raging outbursts. He's my blood pressure medication.
...And it's just like that pointy weasel to try and take it away from me with some BS redemption propaganda.

My players really liked the "betrayal" at the end. They viewed it as a fun throwback to the good old days, except with kid gloves on.

I'm sure if I just ask customs how to send alcohol across the border in an attempt to manipulate untaxed international gaming they'll understand...
Should go about as well as everything else in the Perplexity. Can't wait.

I think I speak with a Paizo employee at least every other day.
Synergy is the coming together of ideas to create something greater. What you describe sounds more like a splintering into warlike tribes and an utter devolution into total chaos.
The take away from this should be that Paizo has consumers that would like information that will likely affect their purchases and are having a hard time finding it.
I also just like having a choice.
I like to roll dice. Rolling crits is fun. Judging from the number of dice many people lug around they do too. Just let people do either one, the average is the same. If the only goal is to simplify why not just have a flat damage rate? I would take fun over simple any day.

Once again the fates have conspired to keep me from PaizoCon. They work in mysterious ways blessing one of the project managers that could cover my absence with a new baby and afflicting the other with Mayo clinic level kidney surgery. To add injury to insult I have contracted a mucus spewing joyride of a cold. Knowing now that the universe seeks to prevent my attendance only serves to harden my resolve for next year.
In the mean time I have an unused pass and banquet ticket. I accept many forms of payment including good deeds, good stories, boons, gold, etc. I would hate to see it go to waste.

I am still missing 6 of 8 sessions.
So what if the the first season of PFS2 was finding, assembling and figuring out an artifact called "The Wayback Machine" or something that would allow pathfinders to travel back into the past experience old scenarios. Players/GMs could earn trips back in time to replay old scenarios. There would be some ratio of characters or characters levels to number of replays of old scenarios. I think I read somewhere that converting from old to new is easy. There is a volunteer army that would happily do the conversions. The converting process would provide great experience for players and GMs getting used to the new system. Players and GMs that want to play more than twice a month wouldn't lose interest waiting for new content. Maybe two old scenarios could be re-released each month to limit things. I don't want to just abandon PFS1 and feel this would be a good way for us all to move on but still have a connection to the past.
How about a fame/prestige system?
Fame- This would be a pool of spendable points that would start at zero after each reboot. This would provide bonuses, items, etc to keep the power curve flat between new and old players.
Prestige - This would be a cumulative total between reboots that would allow for a motivated new GMs to catch up to those with years under their belts. This number would offer more flavor boons- titles, unlocks, etc.
We would all be both starting fresh and building on the tens, hundreds or thousands of hours invested.
