It's been a while since I did a mini post blitz.
And now it seems I'm in the midst of one.
At some point today, a dude is coming to my mom's house to perform the regular inspection of her A/C & Heating system. I shall make sure to be here.
Other than that, my day is open.
I do have a new challenge - trying to help my mom sell a sofa bed. Since I have many old high school compatriots with college age (or near enough so) kids, I may have an easier time of it.
Good dinner last night. A bowl of gumbo and a fried catfish platter at K. Gee's.
We've been staying at my mother's house the past few days. Today we relocate to my in-laws' house, since my younger brother will be arriving with his family.
My mother-in-law is trying to convince my wife to do some kind of escape room crap. Sounds stupid. And I'm not sure why my wife thinks a night of doing something with her parents would be fun.
My son was fascinated by the shivering of my mother's chihuahua. We explained to him they always shake like that.
A new urban trend where you're locked in a room and have to solve the puzzle to get out of said locked room.
As someone with a slight case of claustrophobia I don't get the appeal.

okay yeah can't say that tickles my fancy. But thank you for educating me.
This morning I told my daughter if she woke up Granny by being too loud, then Granny was going to come out of her room, squish her chihuahua into the form of a ball, and throw it at my daughter's face.
Strangely enough, my daughter was not amused.
Lunch was a delicious roast beef po'boy from Saia's.
F%*@ Hoagies. Poser sammiches.
Yesterday was a pretty good food day.
My baby girl just assured me her tootsies "smell like flowers".
Tomorrow, we go home! Huzzah!
Ye gods, man! Not the giblets!
"And that is why we try to be careful with Super Glue."
The threads of fate seem to be offering me plenty of rope.....
Fittingly, it appears we might be in for some rain later on today.
As well, it looks like there'll be rain over the next three days. I should apologize to my neighbors. It always seems to wait until after I put my decorations up to do this.
I have this sudden urge to sing "Let it go", but it wouldn't do any good anyway.
Being a den leader for my boy's cub scout den has been a mixed bag. On the one hand, I like the idea of (hopefully) helping (in some small way) to mold these young boys into better young men. On the other hand, some of them are little a$&*$!+s, and the logistics of doing den meetings is a white hot mess.
I DVR'd Bordello of Blood, and watched it last night just for s#*~s and giggles. It was just as cheesy as I remember. There were lots of boobs though, so it's all good.
I had also DVR'd the Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special, celebrating her old TV variety show. Damn, that s##* was funny!
It almost makes me wish someone would develop a new comedy variety show, but I just can't think of anyone who might be able to pull it off.
I shall miss how awesome the Walking Dead used to be.
At least today was a good food day.
So much for "political crap no longer hosted on Paizo". Honestly, though, I didn't think it would take this long.
I just realized last night, after over 30 years, that the mom in Better Off Dead was played by the same actress who played Mattie in the original True Grit.
What the hell?!? Everything is still here?!?!?
Some small part of me will forever be pissed at my mother-in-law for buying my kids that stupid elf on the shelf. Ye gods, how I hate that thing!

Stupid clogged sinus. Why must you hurt me so?
~pulls out an icepick~ Here. Let me push this through your skull. It might hurt less.
So....This was, perhaps, the most horrendously awful Christmas I have ever experienced in my life.
Starting off, about 2-1/2 weeks ago was when I got a sinus infection of some sorts. A week later, I was hit with the flu. Finally, about Christmas Day, I started to feel a bit better. The last few nights I've been able to get a good night's sleep. I'm only down to taking a Sudafed every morning and Robitussin every few hours. I lost close to ten pounds. For those who've met me in real life, you know I probably can't afford to do that.
Also, my wife and children were sick to varying degrees during this time frame. Wife still is feeling a bit blah. And my niece. And my sister-in-law (who is still sick).
And today would have been my father's 76th birthday. I love him and still miss him every single day.
Otherwise, I got claws for Christmas. Meat Claws.
Watched that Netflix movie Bright, with Will Smith. It was....interesting. I can see a lot of potential in it.
I am glad that you are feeling better.
If my 2018 is only half as sucktastic as my 2017, then it should be a pretty decent year.
While I was sick, I had stopped drinking coffee. It's interesting how quickly I lost my taste for it. I'm slowly getting it back, though.
Now I've just got to finish up with this cold. I prefer to be in mostly good health to drink beer. So I haven't had any in about 3 weeks now.
I decided to start off the new year in at least a partly good way- smoking a bacon-wrapped pork loin. Tomorrow, we'll use the left over bacon in a batch of red beans and rice.
