Since I don't really game any more, I'm debating getting rid of most of my gaming books. I just have to figure out the best way to do that.

I can't give them to my younger brother. He has some of the books already. Besides, he's moved on to a 5th edition family game with his family.

And I don't really feel like trying to sell them online, since that would require some effort on my part, regarding packaging and shipping things.

I almost feel like my best bet would be to bring everything over to Half-Priced Books. I might not get a whole lot for them, but I'd at least get something.

Scarab Sages

And getting rid of some of this stuff would certainly free up some much needed book shelf space.

Scarab Sages

After several days, it appears the rain is finally coming to an end. For a short while, at least.

Today's debate:

The wife and I signed up for Parent's Night Out with the daycare. We can drop the beastly things off as early as 6:30, and are planning to see a movie. And that's where the quandary comes in.

We don't want to stay out too late, as the aforementioned beastly things have swim practice tomorrow morning. We can finally go see Avengers: Infinity War, which starts at 7:10. Accounting for trailers, that would probably get us out just before 10 pm. We would, however, probably not have time to eat dinner. On the other hand, we could see Deadpool 2, which starts at 8:10. Again accounting for trailers, we would definitely be in the theater until after 10:10. However, dinner would be an option.

Honestly, I suppose I'm good either way. Both are movies I have yet to see, but want to. And if I don't get to do dinner, that's why God created very large popcorns.

Today's other debate is how to occupy my time here at work. Things are rather....slow....at the moment. I'm waiting on components of package #1 to finish at the paint shop. Then they can be sipped back to this facility for assembly. Package #2's components are still being fabricated (for the most part). Then they have to go through NDE and hydro testing, then painting, then assembly.

I suppose I could try to finish finding those electrical components the client wants located. I've not been getting a lot of help from the fabrication shop on that, however. And to look for them myself would be like finding a needle in an 80K square foot haystack.

A-zombie,

If you have some AP books you'd like to get rid of, I'd happily take them off your hands.

Scarab Sages

Ouch! Stoopid back problems.

Scarab Sages

At least it was an eventful weekend. Dinner and a movie (Deadpool 2) Friday night. Early Saturday morning swim lessons for the kidlets, followed by some house stuff, then a cub scout pack planning meeting. Sunday was garden work, grocery shopping, and smoking some bacon-wrapped pork loins.

Scarab Sages

Although today is Monday, it will end up partially okay, since red beans (with the bacon from yesterday's smoking) are currently slow cooking at my house.

Scarab Sages

Stoopid "Smart" TV updates kept me from continuing to watch Luke Cage last night.

Scarab Sages

There was red beans, though. So that was pretty awesome.

Scarab Sages

Now to go in search of more coffee.

Scarab Sages

And some more drawings.

Scarab Sages

My dentist's father passed away last night. Very sad to hear, but it was my understanding he had been suffering for a long time. So maybe it was for the best.

Anyway, they asked if I would be okay with rescheduling the appointment I was supposed to have today. Of course I said "yes". Barring a true emergency, what kind of selfish dick cheese would say "no"?

Scarab Sages

Still, I was looking forward to getting away from this work shop a little early.

Scarab Sages

Ye gods! How I hate this job. It's f%+*ing boring and pointless.

Scarab Sages

Not my overall job, mind you. Just the specific job my company currently has me performing.

Scarab Sages

The worst part, besides it being an utter waste of time, is having to use these damnable ear plugs. Not only are they annoying, but to get one properly inserted into my right ear takes a minor miracle. That's due to some surgery I had as a youngster, lo those many years ago.

Scarab Sages

Probably damn near 35 years ago. Maybe slightly less.

Scarab Sages

Definitely over 30 years, though.

Scarab Sages

There's a young lady working here at this fabrication yard, whose shirt I would like to get a better look at. It was some sort of (possibly) kick ass looking Batman shirt. I noticed it in passing. The Bat symbol always jumps out at you.

Scarab Sages

I'd almost want to ask her wear she got it, but then she'd probably think I had just been staring at her boobage and be offended. Unless I could make it understood that I'm a Batman fan going waaaayyyy back, probably from before she was born.

Finding a way to do that without looking like you're ogling is the challenge. How ya' been Zombie?

It never helps that, on occasion, we do ogle.

As for how I've been - thankfully employed, constantly busy, yet bored out of my mind, and (most recently) in near constant pain of varying intensity.

I hope that you feel better soon, AZ. Near constant pain is never fun.

Scarab Sages

Today is a mix so far....

Woke up with a bit of a hangover. Spilled a bit of my coffee. Crappy traffic situation delayed me 15 minutes. Got to work to find (surprise, surprise) the fab yard did not have enough components back from the paint yard to start assembly of unit 1.

And yet.....

Heard from one of my fraternity brothers the new CF drug he's taking is working great, and that his lung capacity is up to 54%. There was other good news that shall remain nameless due to messageboard rules. Got to see the Power Man and Iron Fist episode of Luke Cage last night. I have coffee. And it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Scarab Sages

Woot! It's Friday!

Scarab Sages

And, of course, the company I currently find myself working alongside did not get started with assembling the first of the client's two units yesterday.

Can't say I'm surprised. To say the people here are incompentent when it comes to scheduling work would actually be kind. What's even worse is they don't seem to care.

Uncaring isn't sharing.

Scarab Sages

Ye gods! It's a miracle!!!

When I left work late Friday afternoon, they had only brought the refrigeration skid over from the paint shop, and that was left sitting on a flatbed in their yard.

Today, I arrived to discover they had brought over the process skid, all the piping, the lower part of one of the pressure vessels, a pair of pumps and some peripheral stuff. It's enough to get started on assembly!!!

Granted, assembly was supposed to start last Thursday. I also sincerely doubt they'll get it started today. who knows, though, (additional) miracles can sometimes happen.

Scarab Sages

Miracles can happen.
They can happen to you.

Punlisher's Clearing House,
the house where dreams come true.

Scarab Sages

And now that jingle will be stuck in someone's head all day.

Scarab Sages

Mine, of course. If no one else's.

Scarab Sages

So far, I have nothing special planned for the 4th of July. That might be sad, but I long ago resigned myself to not having close adult friends with whom to hang out on a regular basis.

It was a worthy sacrifice, to get my children out of the northeastern U.S.

Scarab Sages

I probably could have had that, if I had moved back to New Orleans. Plenty of old friends still live there.

However, then I would have been living in a s&$$hole state and working in a s$$*hole city. No thank you.

Scarab Sages

Have I ever mentioned how much I f#!@ing hate ear plugs?

It's mostly because they're a pain in the ass for me to get in, especially the right ear. Goes back to a childhood surgery.

Scarab Sages

I have to admit, I had forgotten how much I enjoyed inflicting my random thoughts on anyone here who hadn't hidden this thread yet (which is probably like 3 people).

Scarab Sages

Ye gods, it's yet another miracle!

They've started assembling the first of my client's units. I swear I saw the face of the Virgin Mary appear in the dirt just outside the work area, and it was weeping tears of "F@+@! It's about time!".

Scarab Sages

You can't see, but I'm now doing a "Somewhat Happy Dance".

Scarab Sages

Damnit! I threw my coffee cup in the trash before I could get my second cup. I can still get some more coffee, but I'll have to use on of the Styrofoam cups this place keeps in its kitchen. I like my cup better, as it had a lid.

Scarab Sages

I actually find myself with mixed feelings about tomorrow. Both the fabrication yard I've been working out of, and my own company, are closed for the holiday.

Which means I won't have to come to this place, or even leave my house.

Which, unfortunately, also means I'm not getting paid.

Stoopid contract work.

Scarab Sages

Have I mentioned recently how much I f$!!ing hate ear plugs?

Scarab Sages

Why, yes! Yes I did. About 23 hours ago.

Scarab Sages

Well, it was a day off at least. In truth, it was kind of like one of our typical Sundays. Just with much less clothes washing.

Scarab Sages

I found a station that was showing multiple Marvel films yesterday. I let the boy watch the first Spider Man with Tobey Maguire, and the first one with Andrew Garfield.

Scarab Sages

Watching those Spider Man movies made me realize - Of all superheroes to get their own movies, I think Spider Man is right up there with Batman when it comes to the number of different villains he's had in his films:

Spider Man:
Green Goblin (Norman and Harry versions)
Doctor Octopus
Symbiote/Venom
Sandman
Lizard
Electro
Rhino
Vulture

Batman:
Joker
Penguin
Catwoman
Riddler
Two-Face
Poison Ivy
Mr. Freeze
Ra's Al Ghul
Bane

Really, I guess it depends on how you split things out. If you count the different versions of Green Goblin as separate, or if you treat the symbiote and Venom as two distinct villains, Spidey might take the lead.

Scarab Sages

It's always bugged me that more classic villains aren't used, although this is changing. Superman movies were always the most guilty. There are so many awesome villains who remain unused. They've done Lex Luthor to death. They've done Zod twice. There's a big list of "haven't used": Brainiac, Parasite, Mister Mxyzptlk, Bizzaro, Metallo, Intergang, Toyman, Ultra-Humanite.

They could even combine some of those. Like Intergang trying to find an edge over Supes and they end up creating Parasite.

Scarab Sages

I'm similarly bothered by Agent's of Shield. Although they've done pretty well about mixing it up with villains, they nearly always circle back around to Hydra. I'd love to see AIM, Flag-Smasher and ULTIMATUM, the Zodiacs, or maybe the Serpent Society.

Scarab Sages

Mmmm...lunch. Today it consisted of some left-over smoked chicken, some left-over smoked beef, and jasmine rice.

Scarab Sages

Like a fool, I forgot my water bottle at home today. Fortunately for me, it's not as balls-nasty hot as on Monday and Tuesday. With the heat index, we're only up to about 96 degF.
