I'll probably also pick up some spare batteries and bottle water, sort of as a just in case for the upcoming bad weather.

Scarab Sages

Not to mention, I need more pringles and raisins.....

Mmmmm

Pringles and raisins

Homer drool

Scarab Sages

Damn skippy. Pringles are my go to snack these days.

You always did hog them when we dated

Scarab Sages

I have an annoying ex? This is news.

Scarab Sages

My new beer can chicken rack worked as well as expected. Still, the cooking did not go as planned. After over 4 hours, the probes were still giving me too low temps, so I had to pop in on the grill at a higher temperature for a bit.

It was just as delicious as last time, though.

Sure. You forgot all about me, didn't you? Typical

Sorry. I'd wish you the best, but you already had it.

Scarab Sages

Well, for we happy folk here in Houston, Tropical Storm Cindy seems to be big fat lot of nothing. Some wind and rain. That's it.

Scarab Sages

Louisiana, on the other hand, seems to be getting a decent pounding. And not the good kind.

I'll have to call my mother later on and make sure things are okay with her.

Scarab Sages

Next week, the boy will start Vacation Bible Study. I think it goes for two weeks. My sister-in-law is one of the organizers/teachers, and my two nieces will also be there.

This means I'll only have baby girl to deal with for part of each day. That's fine by me.

Scarab Sages

That reminds me, I've got to talk with someone at the church about getting the boy into the classes he needs in order to make his First Communion. I think, before that, he'll have to do First Confession as well. It's been long enough that I forget the order of the Sacraments.

Scarab Sages

I've also got to see about getting the boy signed up for Cub Scouts. I'll be doing that through the church as well. I trust them more than the school.

Scarab Sages

First, however, we must get through the next few days of (potential) rain. Even if the rain doesn't last as long as they originally said it would, the problem still exists that I just don't have a lot of errands to run that get us out of the house.

Talk to the hand

June 30th couldn't come fast enough. Leaving the Ramblin' Man in the dust and leaving the Tree fort behind. Off ta Wyoming for a week of clean air and the whaffing odor of cow chip.

Scarab Sages

Congratulations. I hear the cow chip is excellent this time of year.

Last night, putting the boy to bed, we watched a short clip of Blade Runner 2049 stuff. With that as inspiration, I watched the original Blade Runner a bit later.

Scarab Sages

That reminds me, I've been wanting to find the Kurt Russell movie Soldier on bluray for a while now. It's not an award winner, but I always liked it.

Scarab Sages

Bright and sunshiny this morning. The weather folks are saying we'll have a chance of rai later today, then 50-60% chance over the next couple of days.

Of course, they said the same thing earlier this week about the last few days. I'll take their forecasts with several grains of salt.

Scarab Sages

My baby girl just asked who Chewbacca was. I keep forgetting I haven't allowed her to watch Star Wars yet.

Scarab Sages

There are a series of short animated clips played on the Disney Channels called the Disney Tsum Tsum. Some of them are actually kind of entertaining. There was one that was Japanese Samurai/Ninja themed. There was a horror themed one that had elements of Nightmare Before Christmas scattered throughout. Just a few minutes ago, as I was collecting my fresh cup of coffee, there was one on with what seemed to be Maleficent and Cheshire Cat scaring the crap out of Mickey and Minnie.

Anyway, they're one of the least annoying things about watching Disney Channel.

Scarab Sages

That, and Octonauts. Anthropomorphic animals as sea rangers who travel the world in their Mobile Underwater Headquarters. I'll be honest, it gets the engineer in me thinking about how I would design and undersea base.

Scarab Sages

Because an undersea home would be f!&%ing cool.

Scarab Sages

My other choice would be to build and live in a working replica of the Nautilus from the Disney version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Scarab Sages

I was going to take the kids to get some Chick-fil-a for lunch (for them, not me), but baby girl threw a fit at the mere mention of leaving the house. Rather than deal with that, I just decided we'd stay home for lunch.

Of course, this forced me to use the last of the beer can chicken for my own meal. Mixed with a little jasmine rice and a bit more seasoning, it was delicious.

Scarab Sages

And now the doorbell has turned against me.......

Scarab Sages

Ouch. This I vow - I shall never again drink two bottles of Dogfish Head's 120 Minute IPA in the same night. Thank the gods that beer only comes out once a year.

Scarab Sages

Other than that, I was in the mood for gloom and doom after the kids went to bed, so I put on the Cabin in the Woods movie. Afterwards I was feeling a bit more action-ish, so I put on Pacific Rim, then promptly fell asleep on the couch.

Scarab Sages

Somewhere around 0300 this morning, baby girl called down about having to go potty. The wife goes up to help, and baby girl comes out of her room holding aloft her Thor hammer. The wife tried to get her to put it down, and got what she called "a dirty look" in return.

I'm so proud of my princess.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, the boy starts Vacation Bible School today. He's a bit apprehensive, but I think it'll pass.

Scarab Sages

Yesterday kind of ended up sucking balls.

Scarab Sages

Except that the boy ended up loving VBS, as I figured he would.

The newest expansion for Diablo III comes out today.

Scarab Sages

Yes. I ordered the Necromancer Pack right before the network downtime for the new update started. It's all pretty cool.

Scarab Sages

Been a busy week. And it's going to be an even busier Friday. I enjoy visiting home, I just hate driving there.

Scarab Sages

Although, when I say "home", I don't actually mean the house I grew up in. That was sold by my parental units years ago. Not to mention, it was in Metairie, Louisiana, which is on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, within the confines of the New Orleans Metropolitan area. Due to my penchant for not wanting to needlessly increase the chances of my blood being forced to exit my body, I prefer to stay as far from New Orleans as I can.

Scarab Sages

Because New Orleans has, sadly, become even more of a crime-ridden s~#+ hole than it was when I lived there.

Scarab Sages

Arrrrggghhhh!!!! I was forced by the wife to not only travel to the south shore today, but to also go to her cousin's house within the confines of New Orleans itself. I'm happy to say, however, that we at least got out safe and sound.

In the mean time, the city itself had at least one shooting and one stabbing, while the suburb of Metairie, where I grew up, had an armed robbery/attempted murder. This was near the same mall where a carjacking happened a few weeks back.

Scarab Sages

It makes me think her cousin, whose house we went to, is b&#$%@$ crazy for moving back there with his wife and two young daughters.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, it's hot as f$*!. I've been doing good some work around the house for my mom, and everyone's been loving the kids.

Scarab Sages

I think there's been a shooting everyday in the New Orleans area since we came in on Friday. F#~*ing crazy.

Scarab Sages

We've been having fun, though. Yesterday, the wife took the kids to the barn where her sister works. Today, we're just hanging around my mom's house, with her sisters and my mom-in-law over.

I used to live in Metairie when I was a kid. My brother was born in New Orleans.

AZ! Hope all is well. I've meandered my way back to posting at Paizo and thought I'd pop into your thread. Stay safe in NOLA!

Scarab Sages

Tonight all is kind of boring as s&+%. The wife decided to go do something with her sister, so I'm sitting at my mom's house about to go yell at my little beasts to go the f*~& to sleep.

I'm not actually in NOLA, however. I'm just north of it, across the lake in Mandeville. Thank the gods for that.

Scarab Sages

Happy Birthday, America!

Scarab Sages

Long day, but not a bad trip back to Houston. Only one bad spot of traffic, and after we passed it we stopped for a nice lunch. We still got home by around my original estimate.

Scarab Sages

Back to some kind of routine. It's great to be home, though. The glory of sleeping in one's own bed is far too often taken for granted, methinks.
