Curious if there would be any interest in a game where your race, class, even the fights would be totally randomized.
It would mostly a straight up dungeon crawl, though perhaps I'll come up with some other non combat encounters as well.
As a warning, I might not always post on a daily basis, but even if I go for a few days without a post, I will always come back. Sometimes I get distracted, or a lil burned out, but I will continue running the game for as long as my players want.
Yes/No: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Sorry, the randomness of the dice say that I am not interested.
I'd be interested, are you rolling for us, or shall I just run down the list of d20pfsrd and roll results?
I'd be down to play as well.
You guys will roll for yourselves, except for starting level and wealth(if we start at first). Level will be 1-3, while if we start at first, I'll roll fighter wealth and then everybody gets the same.
I believe I'll be sticking to Paizo material only, though it will of course be ALL Paizo, this way I don't have to deal with too much extra.
Normally, I am all for using Psionics, Rogue Genius, etc, but since characters are determined by the roll of dice, I don't want to have too many possibilities, both for my players and my own sanity.
However, I will allow all races from the ARG, to help increase interesting combinations.
how do the random rolls for race/class work
do we set the variables or do you
Les'see...
1d2 ⇒ 1Male or female
There's 22 starting classes on the pfsrd, so 1d22 ⇒ 6 to count down from the top, left then right on the side by sides.
41 races on the other races page. Start with the left column then down the big one. 1d41 ⇒ 41
Male Wayang monk...
Nah, I'm good. Mostly just wanted to see what I'd get.
Feel free to use that format.
Something like what Magic did, but it will be posted in the official recruitment later. This is just to gauge interest.
I'll check it out.
My main check yes or no if I would play this is if I am comfortable with class and race.
What I got I know almost nothing about. Never used a small character in a serious game and monk is just so specific...
So if my real roll is a little easier I may be interested.
A slow paced game would be nice. Not having to keep up with it every day, but also not having to worry about it dying out from lack of posts.
Interested
On phone at hospital right now
More later
Good point, so I will figure out a way around that. Perhaps three rolls and then choose one of them. The idea is to hopefully make something you would not normally play, but I wouldn't want you uncomfortable or hating your result.
Also, archetypes are definitely allowed and those can be chosen by you.
Finally how would you all feel about including the random background generator from Ultimate Campaign?
Huh. Took my post out for some reason.
I said I think it would be better to not use the past generator.
More fun to have the end result then give the back story leading up to it.
You could offer it, but not require it as part of creation.
I say leave that bit up to the individual in question
This sounds fun. I'll do it. When do you plan on playing? And are we starting at level one?
You could roll our characters from this http://donjon.bin.sh/pathfinder/random/#npc
I'd prefer at least level 3, to start, but that's just me
I'll leave this particular thread open till at least tomorrow. I'll then start up an official recruitment thread.
Also, the random background generator will not be mandatory, but I feel like it would be a LOT of fun for the PCs.
What the heck, count me in on this.
this actually does sound like it could be fun - as you say, play something you wouldnt normally.
count me interested also
I would be interested in this as well. It gives a chance to play something you might not normally.
stats
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 2) = 9str+2 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 4) = 15con 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3) = 17dex 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 4) = 16cha+2 18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 1) = 13int-2 10
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 1) = 11wis 10
race
1d41 ⇒ 34 suli
class
1d52 ⇒ 13 gunslinger, interesting, not really an optimal race for gunslinger, but an interesting one, going to go mysterious stranger to take advantage of the +2 to cha, maybe pistolorado too
You should probably wait till I post official creation rules first, hmm?
You said "something like that" when I asked
Maybe you should give better answers to pertinent questions :P
seems interesting, randomness can be quite fun
Did you miss the rest of that post? I said I would post the character creation rules once I got up the official recruitment thread
I'm just messing with ya, hense the :P at the end
Sounded a little b!&!*y to me, I'd watch my tongue with the GM.
Dotting for interest.
I know him from previous games I was just trying to joke around
I appologize if I was out of line.
Yeah - I'm in! I like to try and make a good character story out of randomness...it's like a good riddle or puzzle =)
Oh, no no, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were acquainted. And honestly, I was posting out of outside frustration.
can I just make several characters then randomly determine which one I will play?
It's cool, I sometimes have trouble knowing where the line in the sand is drawn, (I got mental probs :P)
Foul: we are the people our parents warned us about...
@ Edward: I hope everything is okay...maybe you could submit your WotW concept...it eventually has to be picked right lol
I am interested in the campaign, cant wait to see an official thread :)
Is this still open? I'd be up for it.
Interested. I'm a big fan of random.
I will post an official recruitment, complete with character creations rules, tomorrow. Had a much longer day today than anticipated and I am dead tired.
I might play unless the class is random. I don't mind randomizing everything else, but I just will not play martial characters (because I can do better in real life and that knowledge makes it frustrating to play)
Are we doing fully random stats (i.e. in order) and then rolling for class, or do we get some adjustment. I don't mind playing something subpar, but playing say an Int 8 Wizard is going to be stupid.
I suppose you could just lump it multi-class into something else next level though (he's got all the training, but none of the talent)...

Y'all, it says race and class are randomized. So if you're not okay with playing any class, (I can't speak for the GM, but) it looks like this isn't for you.
It also doesn't say anything else must be completely randomized. It looks like he's using the randomization already put in place by d20-type games, so your stats won't be stupid unless you want them to be.
I personally can't wait.
