I saw something on an old thread - and I didn't think it would be a good idea to necromancy the entire thread (it was only part), so I started a new thread just for this...

Liran brings massive AC, Damage, and Attack buffs while holding the front line.

Selen is a Life Oracle with a massive emphasis on buffing and healing. It is doubtful you will die with her at the table. First Aid Gloves baby! She also brings a bit of whimsy due to the neglecting of her mental stats (wis, int)

Depends on how they define fun.

Krong brings a bag full of small animals, and pretty colors. He also brings charcoal to draw funny faces on enemies that fail their saves.

Camden brings ridiculous AC, saves, HP, self-buffs and DPR. Which essentially forces every enemy to focus fire on him in order to even slow him down. Which allows everyone else to do whatever they want unmolested.

Viscount Jacob Von Semaphore III brings full party buffs, and his winning personality. Also drugs.

Mariah brings alcohol, firearms, patriotic bravado, and religious zealotry.

Lucy brings her pet dragon, since she's incapable of participating in basic human interaction.

Rorg brings the crushing reminder of the poor choices that everyone at the table made by not being a Birdbarian.

My wizard, also named Kurthnaga, brings an answer for most situations, and powerful options to end combats quickly should the need arise, at the cost of some resources.

My paladin, Ike, brings the ability to destroy most evil targets, while providing safety for party members, and a shining member of high society with all of the tact and charm such a position necessitates, while allowing others to handle the ideas. He can also bring back the fallen with relative ease and cure maladies and poisons, and is known to bring the occasional first aid gloves for deadly scenarios.

My druid, Soren, brings an army of animals with him, is an effective scout for if it somehow comes up, a competent and observant woodsman with the power of the elements to back him up.

My rogue, Sothe, is a proper pathfinder, picking up items to go on his belt to fit the situation. He's a walking armory with a penchant for lecturing people on matters practical, religious, and moral. Bringing the magic items everyone needs, in multiples for some, is his game.

Liberty's Edge

Dorezi thinks his musical voice and charming smile are the greatest gifts he brings to the party, but he is actually more appreciated for his Inspire Courage, Use Magic Device, Grease and Timely Inspiration.

My druid brings her tree who wants to grow up to be a real boy. He pouts when you don't buy him a kitten and lets random children tie rope on his limbs so they can swing. He just wants you to love him.

Vati brings free cures from disease and other effects, as well as a free raise dead.

Alexander Damocles brings a whole lot of sorcerer spells and buffs, a few blasty spells, saves at minimum of +18, and knowledges of 40 or more 6 times a day.

Zrinka is my BASF character. "She doesn't make the characters you play, she makes the characters you play better."

Boomer is a generalist who can always contribute something. He isn't very powerful, but he's never idle. Moreover, his role as comic relief is greatly appreciated by everyone at the table. Players beg me to play him. GMs have offered to run scenarios just to see him go through them. I must be doing something right with that one.

Anik is a sorcerer in full plate. His job is defense and buffs. He can attack also, but really he is there to protect his fellow pathfinders, soak up attacks and attacks of opportunity, and set up flanks.

These are my favorite three characters to play precisely because they were designed to make the game more fun for everyone.

These kind of things don't make the game more fun for me. Being able to remember your character's personality does make it more fun.

No team I'm on ever has a gaping hole in capabilities, except possibly for arcane casting. Teams I'm on get stuff done.

And we'll do it without murdering everything that moves, too.

I know a lot cuz I read lots of books and I punch really hard and sometimes if someone's having a hard time I can make them the hero for a while!

Mea has bardic knowledge (with rolls at a -1), pretty good natural attacks, and a bit of buffing including Heroism that she'll liberally apply to people. She has a bag full of weird items too, and the kind of happy-go-lucky outlook that only Int 6 can bring.

Heck, I just carry an Invigorating Repose a Dwarven spell on a scroll, so I can Breath of Life 4 rounds after the target dies... I just stroll over after the fight and pull the scroll from my haversack, cast Invigorating Repose then cast the B.o.L.

Though this means that some judges have the mosters keep swinging on the body for several rounds after someone dies, so that the damage healed from the BoL isn't enough to bring him back.

I don't know if I personally bring much fun to the table. But in my journey to level 3, I have brought many a color spray to the face of mine enemies as well as a disturbing proficiency in bashing things with my quarterstaff. That, and I have made a plan that almost took out a final encounter on its own.

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Maps Subscriber

In remembering that PFS and PFRPG is a game about teamwork and force multiplication, I've had more than a few support characters who will try and work out the best way to make the rest of the PCs more awesome as their primary combat trick, and secondarily remove obstacles / provide out of combat skills and utility. You can do this on most of the casty classes, and with consumables on any class.

Other PCs it's a question of having the right quips, right help, or right way to cooperate.

And some tables, it's having the ability to play an RP foil for someone while both having fun and not wrecking it for the rest of the table. Those can be epic fun.

In short, I applaud the notion of finding how to synergize fun generation... but there's unfortunately no formula for it because of the different fun measurement functions of individual players and GMs.

Calvin the Vulgar brings humourous insults to friends and foes alike, massive bonuses to attack and damage, decent damage output, and a bit of everything else. Probably my most fun character to play right now, and everyone else seems to enjoy having him at the table as well.

Does bringing the terriying power of the Dark Lord Asmodeus to bear in the defence of ones allies who had the misfortune not to be born Chelaxian count?

I would of course never do anything so gauche as to demand some form of payment for those services but on our return to Absalom I might suggest that those who have profitted from his power might make a small donation to the widows and orphhans fund in his mighty Temple.

Most groups seem pretty happy my cleric dropping blessing of fervor and then providing moral support. And heals, I guess.

My magus is also more of an enhancer. He's always got haste and now he's got greater trip. At the cost of intensified shenanigans.

Much easier in a PbP than a home game, but it caused a minor trend with the other PCs in one scenario.

Not at all. I am quite certain that the Church of the Dark Lord sponsors many orphanages to ensure that destitute children are brought up in a civilised way and with a healthy respect for law, order, tradition and the proper behaviour expected of a productive member of society. To do otherwise would be to leave them prey to all the ills of urban life, criminals, malcontents and undesirables, a wholly unacceptable outcome.

I believe there may also be a visitor and outreach program. There may even be leaflets. I cannot comment on any claims that groups of these youths saved from a life of crime and misery visit households delivering the word of the Dark Lord to those who have not yet seen the truth.

I bring my gnomy awesomeness. I am highy agi-a-tated at the lack of gnome power involved with the Pathsearcher Society. The Dismemberment needs to promote more gnome to adventure cap's. I hear tales all the time of gnomeless parties dying. You talls are bigger targets and need to start looking down before you can hold your chin up in confi-o-dense.

So I offer my fellow pathsearchers my greaterest magics. Of course besides mastering the colorspray. I can gnome-a-port, un-magic things, fly, invisicible and other awesome magics.

So to you talls do not wind up dead, and birng a resourceful gnome to keep you alive.

I bring the coffee. Coffee that "EXPLODES" with flavor and that addictive caffeine burn. Coffee that can make you fly across the battlefield and hit with the triple shot power of espresso that makes you feel like a bull. So the next time your in Absalom and need a pick me up to take on that horde of goblins remember Mehendren's Alchemy and Coffee Emporium. Located in the Coins next to Steve's Discount Deathtraps.

Mostly humor.

Doyle: Used to do everyone's faction mission that didn't require talking. Some handy buffs for his critter that usually made things better for the party too, especially if there was a monk.

Shamus:Cleric of the lantern king. Buffing the party is his deal. Uses shield other and channels to keep people alive. Not only do you get the fun of "not dying" but you can just say "screw caution!" Run into the room, be hit by everything in there.. and still be alive. Then throws up a Touch of madness so you're seeing this while taking half damage, attacking with cleric haste, and another +4 to hit. Also saves the party time disarming by traps by going "Hey what does this do..." and running into it.

Corvus: Drunk bird jokes, and brings beer for everyone

Fabrizio: Well if there's a social aspect to the mission, you're getting the points. Charm person usually leads to some hillarity.

Reynard: Good mobility lets him act as a flanking buddy.

Pyrite and Nugget: Tanky druid with an ankylosaurus. Having a meatshield saves the casters some trouble.

Flutter: Stops the things that stop you from killing the dungeon. Things popping out of the darkness? Has daylight. Rough terrain? casts featherstep. Grease? Walks on it with lilypad stride. Will also usually roflcopter an encounter with bellyrubs.

Joey Jirra: if you don't get a laugh out of a gnome riding in a kangaroo pouch being the deadliest warrior in the party ...

Argentum: Wizard cleric, and most of his spells on both lists are buffy.

Yngvar, Beauty school drop out. Dwarven stereotype joke target.

Gnome alchemist that is sure to touch everything. Will sign any contract and totes around a Rod of Wonder(lots of fun potential here).

I generally trigger traps with my face, will do the evil acts in Season 4 to make sure the stuffy silver crusaders can accomplish the missions. Compare hair style and fashion during the VC opening text with Sheila Hiedmarch. (Generally inferring that she should get back to adventuring as this hanging out in the manor all the time is making her soft in more ways than one.)

any gnome with a rod of wonder is violating the "cooperate" pair of their oath by using it. (J/K, mostly, although it I have to eat another "fireball is centered in your square" effect while standing next to a gnome with onna these things, I'm gonna cry).

I think a lot of people are missing the point.

It's not a question of "What does your character do?" It's a question of "do other people like having your character around?"

Sure, it's nice to say "my Barbarian can daze-lock an enemy with 30 or less AC" or "any enemy gets met with a DC 25 Persistent Phantasmal Killer" but is this helping the other people at the table enjoy themselves?

I feel I could improve on this quite a bit. I've only got one character that I've heard strangers/newbies talk about (my Turtle-mounted Gnome Cavalier), out of the ten or so that I have. My cleric does her best to enhance the people in the party who need it the most (IE, the level 1s in a 1-5 or the 3s in a 3-7), but the things about her that I find entertaining (Cleric of Sivanah who believes other gods are just Sivanah in disguise) don't mean anything to the rest of the table.

I feel it's more about personality than capability. No one wants to sit alongside a jerkass. But regardless of how your character is built, the way your character is played is what makes it fun for the people around you.

TL; DR: Try to be personality-minded, not mechanics-driven.

My last session had a guy who claimed he was Batman and psychotic gnome monk that was punching innocent women as they were dying. A crazy person is nothing without a straight man to be their foil.

I bring Lend Judgment, Shield of Faith (+3), Communal Resist Energy, Disguise Other, Prayer, Shared Wrath, and make liberal use of the feat Branded For Retribution.

I didn't deal a single point of damage during Where Mammoths Dare Not Tread, but helped the archer nearly double his.

And my Monster Lore is up to +23 now, so if anyone needs some questions answered, I can probably help them with that, too.

While I agree with what you say, this thread does try to put a little different spin on this.

Does the other people you are at the table with want to be more mechanics-driven than you do? then if you try to be more mechanics driven you are making the game more fun for them? If so, then do that!
"Hay, see what I can do! I got a 60 bluff check when I take 10!" can be as much fun as smoozing the RP past the guards... and both can be a lot of fun.

This thread is mainly to say - what do you do/does your PC do, to make the table more fun for the other people there? That way the rest of us can listen, and maybe do some of the same things!

With the "...it's what my PC would do" thread up on the board so much, I was feeling the need to give a different picture, so I dug this one up and floated it to the top of the board.

SO, answers can be In Character or Out Of Character or even just general ideas... or even things you've seen other PCs do...

Aside from making sure I can contribute to a fight, I attempt to make people smile/laugh with voices and (some light) pop-culture quotes.

Galton Ranner is a Suli Paladin of Shelyn who carries around a bardiche. He believes it's a Glaive, yaknow, just like Shelyn has. His personality is a mash of Captain Hammer (Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), Zapp Branigan (Futurama), and Gaston (Beauty and the Beast). I pulled quotes from a wide variaty of things, including Minsc from Baulders Gate 2, and I just have fun. Check out this thread for a list of the lines I've come up with so far. And yes, he does have Perform(Sing). I even used an Extra Trait boon to boost it as much as I could.

Tempest is my Undine druid. She is basically 90's cartoon Storm, with the bombastic and dramatic declaratives. And there to back her up is Logan, her Owlbear companion.

I also have a "russian"-esque brawler who I consider my most developed character personality, and my mid-1800's British antiquarian and naturalist, Sir Theophilus Reginald (hunter) and his gorilla assistant, Judith. Less amusing, but still fun characters to play.

On the side-lines I've got Shmebulock, the gnome keneticist, currently ripped straight from the gnome of the same name in Gravity Falls, with a healthy dash of Freakazoid. I haven't gotten to play him yet, but soon.

I also have my Wayang Thassalonian Specialist Prenumbratari, who will be (once we get everything going) part of a 7-person group of wayang Thass specialists, each master of a school, and all competing with each other for power and glory.

Finally, I have Franz, part of a pair of Ifrit brothers my VO and I play together (Hanz and Franz). It's basically improv at the PFS table, where we just make up stuff as it comes to us, and try to have a lot of fun. However, we do have our standard greeting, and it has started more than a few in-game fights...

"I'm Hanz!
And I'm Franz
(together) And we're here to BURN *high-five and then point* YOU UP!

...It's not typically received well in the Land of the Linnorm Kings...

My wizard is focused on buffing and protecting other characters, allowing them to do more and be more. I hope that means they are having more fun.

My most recent support character is Juniper Berrythwaite, a halfling paladin of Apsu (and sorcerer/dragon disciple). She is built to make sure no one gets hurt.

Juniper is not very skilled in combat, especially for a paladin; but what she lacks in skill, she makes up for in luck. You see, she got her start as a chimney sweep for the Pathfinder Society, and as we all know, a sweep is as lucky as lucky can be.

She is covered in soot, head to toe. Juniper begins every mission by offering to shake hands with all of her fellow Pathfinders. Anyone who does so will be eligible for her once-per-day use of the Lucky Halfling feat, which allows her to reroll an ally's saving throw using her (very high) bonus.

Moreover, as she fumbles about in combat, her blundering is a great boon to all of her adjacent allies. Anyone next to her gains either +2 or +4 luck bonus to their AC/CMD until the start of her next turn (depending on whether she is fighting defensively or using total defense).

If I need her to, she can go on the offensive. But I built her specifically to make sure other characters don't get hit.

My character brings the ADD in Add Wait, a halfling paladin rogue.

I also bring the muscle with Luch, a valley girl that gets up to 37 strength at lvl 6.

My other characters have silliness as well, but the list is kind of long...
