MechaPoet - Sorry I didn't see that, but there are always going to be similar or duplicate class applications. I'm not 100% set on halfling, and whatever race I go with my eidolon will be bipedal and small (and really weak). I'll mainly be using my summon monster SLA and spells to fight. I might not even have my eidolon around a lot of the time. I think my race choice is going to come down to whatever avatar image I end up liking the best :P

I've always liked the idea of them, but my usual trouble with them has been that one has to essentially come up with TWO characters, with separate builds, personalities, etc. Unless I have a good concept beforehand, I don't feel like I could just whip up a summoner without neglecting some part of either eidolon or summoner.
DM Jelani |
GM Hills - Would you be okay with combining first worlder and master summoner? I have an idea for a gnome from Wispil who is a follower of the Green Faith and a historian. Her eidolon would be a little fey fairy boy thing.
Mechanically the only difference would be that I'm casting summon nature's ally instead of summon monster, and that my eidolon is even weaker and a fey instead of an outsider.
Raegun |
Twigs here. I'm leaning towards a half-orc tracker with a pair of hounds and a high handle animal score, but as of yet I'm not sure what class. I'm not sure if I want them to be a temporary investment or a integral part of his character (i.e., an animal companion), but the Huntmaster cavalier, Mad Dog barbarian and Ranger can all give me that.
Barbarians aren't really my style, preferring a more disruptive, defense-orientated character like a paladin, reach fighter or a tower-shield user. However I like the idea of rage from a roleplay perspective so I'm heavily leaning in this direction and did a rough statblock.
His backstory is taking shape in a way I'm really happy with, so I'll post it as soon as it's finished up, but I wanted to chime in with an open call for suggestions on how best to handle his build. Best of luck to everybody. :)

I think the DM said he'd be taking submissions until sometime Monday afternoon, so there should still be time.
I've been known to play a halfling from time to time, but this is my first gnome character. Still can't get into playing as a dwarf, sadly.
There are a lot of good character submissions here! I'm forseeing plenty of good (and possibly amusing) synergy no matter who gets picked :)
Lizzie "beads" Tamar |
Is there still time?
I'd like to present Lizzie "Beads" Tamar. Gnome bard, seeker and teller of epic stories. Gathering the stories from personal adventure or overhearing them.
Oh, she's an overly curious and cheerful type to boot....
Bio:
Lizzy "beads" Tamar.
Born in the gnomish minority at Magnimar, Lizzy had always been the curious and sociable one among her gnomish family.
Her grandfather used to tell amazing stories of his past adventures. The world was full of danger and wonders. Interested in music and stories, Lizzy went to the theater school. Learning the fine art of performing, she developed a knack for it using it combined with her friendly attitude. Telling stories with tension left people fascinated and her humor twists made it end with a laugh.
On occasion, she would sneak away, getting near soldiers and adventurers to eavesdrop and learn new "epic stories" that should be shared with the world.
On her 15th birthday her mom gave her a set of beautiful beads for her hair. Within theater school it was common to get nicknames, with her hair decoration....it was self explaining. "Beads" was more used by her classmates than her name.
After graduating from theater school she asked one of the teachers where much of the inspiration for the theater's plays came from. The answer was very simple; adventures. This was the decisive point for Lizzy. For the sake of great stories, great adventures must be had. She soon signed up with the society.

thestrongangel here. This is the alias for the character. Unfortunately had a family emergency yesterday and was at the hospital most of the day. At work now and going to be out on delivery till i'm off most likely. I'll have the crunch and the completed backstory done as soon as I get home, most likely around 5pm CST. I have a general idea of how her backstory goes, but no locations or specifics. If that is too late, I understand.
Feora is an orphaned Flame oracle of Sarenrae. She at a young age lost her family in a fire at her home, due to a home accident where a lantern was knocked over, causing the entire house to be set alight, the family still asleep. She was pulled out of the flame by a Paladin of Sarenrae, but her body was brutally burned, her arms blackened and scorched. Having lost her family, the shrine took her in, and raised her as their own.
As she was growing up, Feora kept her body wrapped up in bandages constantly, mainly her arms, which has been the only part of her body that the clerics could not heal. It has caused her to be shy around others, but she shows strong spirit, and forceful personality at times, and doesnt let anything keep her down long. She is very fearful of fire, and actively tries to avoid it, but deep down fire is also representative of her resolve and her temper. Her shyness tends to pervade her normal dealings with people, and has a healers heart and a gentle spirit, but when goaded past her considerable patience, her calm spirit can turn into a wildfire very quickly. She struggles because her arms do not function well, a holdover from her accident, and at times finds herself unable to do simple tasks for simple lack of strength, though she tries her hardest not to show her pain or tears. This also feeds into her idea that she has to do things for herself, and often takes offense to being offered help, not because she doesnt need it, but because she feels that it is an afront to the many years of struggle she has gone through to try and overcome her disability.
GM Hills |
Ok, I'm going to cut off submissions now. I will give Feora a couple of hours to finish up the character, then I will make a decision tonight and get the first post up! Good luck and thanks for the submissions! (Any last minute changes, please get them done in the next 3.5 hours, once I put my daughter to bed, I'll make my decisions!)
Raegun |
I've decided to make Raegun a Huntmaster Cavalier. He'll transition from a light-armoured, grubby tracker with two warhounds to an armored tank as the game progresses because visible character development is awesome. He'll be able to lock opponents down with combat manuevers and protect the spellcasters. I still need to finish building his animal companions (although at this stage one is simply a purchased guard dog until second level). Should he be accepted, I'll finish that up.
Raegun also has a (partially written) backstory now! Hooray!

Olivius Telraven |
I'll work on a backstory tweak and alternate point-buy. Hopefully Olivius and I can continue our hate-hate relationship. :P
What "relationship" you limp-wrist.
(I tend to make up Chelaxian slang and military speak. In this case "limp-wrist" is a derogatory term for someone with no formal military training or knowledge of tactics)Olivius Telraven |
Ah, I'm sorry if I am misreading the situation, but would this perhaps be an appropriate time for a flute solo? I would be more than happy to engage in musical accompaniment, fellows.
If not, I can provide waffles, and I believe the approproate time for waffles is "all of the time."
Only if the flute solo is followed by a heavy metal accordion duel.
As to the waffles, is there peanut butter?

Peanut butter and waffles? Next thing he is going to tell me that they eat waffles with chicken...
And as to the accordion duel..., that is only allowed if it ends in severe bodily harm to one of the musicians at the end.

So are his trail rations just boxes of eggo's or something? Not that I mind. I'm just trying to figure out if i need to supplement my dietary needs on the road to include waffly goodness.
Feora Morningtide |
I've never had waffles. But I did find a heavy metal accordion duel here.
For the love of all things good, the fact that it is a Viking Accordion duel just makes this so much sweeter. At some point axes and ale will break out, and then the stage brawl..., its enough to bring tears to a grown man's eye. *sniff sniff*

My emergency rations are a delightful invention of the wee folk they call wandermeal. It weighs little and is very filling, but it is certainly no substitute for a grand feast and prolonged consumption can make you ill. Or it makes me ill at least. I suppose I haven't tested this on anyone else yet...but I digress, certainly. As for the waffles, I carry a waffle iron to bake them, which works quite well even over a campfire. The mix, I carry in a pouch, and as long as we can find a fresh source of water, waffles can be less than an hour away. Does that answer your inquiry, my dear?

Only an hour... *Looks down at hand, small flames appearing on the fingertips* I could probably speed up your cook time?
