Creepy, but evocative. Sure you have my vote.
In my world, boring-but-complete item beats complicated item that isn't fully explained.

Oh, I thought. This will be easy. The formatting of this item is off the charts bad. When I compare it to the other one it is with...
*Facepalm*
OK, think of a place where you never want to go, then go there. And like it...
Saw my item. I don't think I'll be in the top 32. I like what my item does, but it isn't exactly flashy or "wow". It does something that no other spell, item or ability in the game does to my knowledge, but maybe it is something that no one really feels a need for.
Maybe I'm just pessimistic.

Oh, item, how much I hate you! And yet I've voted for you three times. Maybe one day you'll be paired with something legal?
First weapon I've seen. Sure, I've seen a couple that could also be weapons, but this, this definitely is a weapon.
I can't even narrow down all the things that are wrong with this item.

And... that item doesn't do what it thinks it does, and doesn't do what it sets the reader up to think that it will do, but the construction requirements actually sortof make sense for what it actually does.
Is there a method as to how the two items are paired together?

To me, that would be a big reason I'd vote it through.
Well, as long as it wasn't something no one needs, like a back rubber or snot picker or something.
Even then, I guess it depends on what it was paired up against. XD
Just got my first repeat. I wish I'd been counting votes so I could see how long it took...

"I only work for a small fraction of a single class."
Lots of Hats, Caps and other head slot...
Evan Draughon wrote: Is there a method as to how the two items are paired together? Sortof. See the FAQ. There's nothing involving the content of the items - it's just paring item IDs according to its logic.
No item needs this long of a recharge time.

I'm seeing lots of outer space related items. To the best of my recollection, they are all fairly interesting.

Cool, do I vote for the 300 word count or the 299 word count?

No. I will never track silver pieces.
Second and third repeats, paired together. Both slimy. Eww.
Trapspringing item that also happens to be eww.

Speaking of which, I saw an item that radiated an aura of a school that doesn't even exist.

Weird, I had to vote for two items with the same name.

Is there an attempt to put up similarly themed items to vote on? Before I got two horse-based items, and now too ooze themed ones.
I don't play spellcasters much, so maybe I'm just out of the loop, but is casting from scrolls really such a big thing that it needs to have some kind of auto-fire function? I've seen at least two, possibly three items that do this job.
Argh. You have no idea how badly I want to go all Simon Cowell on these two items right now. No idea. So...argh.
Ok, this item's price is one gold piece higher than twice it's cost. Why? 0 isn't even next to 1 on the keyboard!
It gets my vote, though. The other item's just bad.

Um, no.
Armor. Also not a wondrous item!
Item that is more likely to be fatal than it is beneficial, vs. joke item.

Speaking of which, I saw an item that radiated an aura of a school that doesn't even exist. Saw that one. That was the least of the problems with that entry.
I feel bad whenever I see an item that uses the metric measurements. I want to say "You're right, you're so right - but the setting doesn't understand you"...
Sigh.

"This item does the thing that a certain class does. All by itself."
I think a party made up of such items could make the entire game self-playing.

Hmm... I've seen a number of food items, and others that describe themselves in terms of food. I'm getting hungry.
When viewing two items with approximately the same word count, especially if it's a long word count, I find myself picking the one with the more interesting name.
This cooking item reads more like a recipe.
