I asked this in another thread before it was wisely stated that maybe I should bring this here to avoid any derailment there.
Is there any estimate when the surveys with be sent out for that kickstarter? I can only assume it will be shortly before the PDFs get sent out. It's either that or something really went wrong as I never got one.
What specific survey info are you wanting to make sure we get from you?

When it's released on what website will I need to look in order to find this book and buy a physical book? Hard or softcover.
Full-color hardcover. And it'll at least be available at the Green Ronin online store. though I suspect it'll be for sale other palces too.

It is exactly because people move we haven't asked yet. Heck *I've* moved since the Kickstarter. But we don't want to pin down folks addresses until we're just about to send out the print rewards. If there is some unforeseen delay, we don't want people to move *after* the survey.
The current plan is to send out the survey shortly after we send ut the pdf rewards.

OK. The thing is that people can change their address on the survey until you lock them down. :) So there's no point it waiting until the last moment to send them out. (You just check a box that allows people to update their survey information after they've filled it out when you send out the surveys).

Sadly just because people CAN change their address, doesn't mean they all WILL. And if we ship things to the wrong address someone didn't think to change, that's still our problem (at the least we'd have an unhappy customer). Since there's no need to get this information until we can use it, there's no reason not to wait to make sure everyone gives us a current address when we need it.

Green Ronin isn't the only company that is following the "wait until ready to ship" to send out Kickstarter Surveys.
I honestly think it's a good idea. Because I recently moved and it took me some time to send out address updates to all the Kickstarters that I have supported but have not been fulfilled yet. When I emailed one of them, the response was essentially, "Thanks for the update, but we haven't sent out the surveys yet." My thought response was, "Huh. That's awesome! At some point I'll get a survey and they will get my most up-to-date address."

Just trying to be helpful. I honestly don't even know how we at FGG handle it. I'm assuming that Onyx Path has one OK with sending stuff out early. I don't have a lot of disposable income and I always feel better once I've filled out the survey and can double-check that my information is good.
I've also had one Kickstarter just mail stuff out to the address on record (which was, luckily, to a place I could retrieve it from at the time) so I get a bit antsy. Especially in the fulfillment month. :)
Again, I didn't start talking about this to say that I'm unsatisfied or that Green Ronin is doing badwrongstuff. It's just part of my anxiety disorder to worry about things I shouldn't. <grin>

We're also hoping to get it out some time before Gen Con. One of the tricky things about that is, well, Gen Con. There are tons of things that has to happen whenever a game company goes to a con, and that can make it especially difficult to push something through that's behind schedule.
I can't say for certain how this is going to pan out yet.

I'm anxious to get my hands on this product but if you guys need to decide between trying to rush it to get it out before the Con or definitely having all of your ducks in order for the Con, obviously I want you to be 100% for the Con to best represent yourselves and your fantastic products there. I can wait until you get back (even if I'd rather not).

Owen KC Stephens wrote:A "preliminary" PDF? What does that entail, and when would the final release be?An update about Advanced Bestiary!
They're doing what a bunch of other 3rd-party publishers have been doing for a while; release a PDF they think is done, for the community to rip apart. It's assumed that something is going to be found (wrong), so that PDF is preliminary.
The final would be whenever the publisher decides to stop updating the PDF as errors are found. That could be a year or more after release. Don't get too hung up on the terminology... when things are done this way, you can use the first PDF that hits your hot little hands, happily.

It certainly won't be anything like a year. We'll finalize it and get it in print well, WELL before that.
I suspect normally we wouldn't do a preliminary pdf, but this stage has to exist so we can make a final proofing pass. Since backers have every reason to want regular updates and the project is behind, we're making the first fully-laid-out pdf available to patrons. Very shortly thereafter we'll make those tweaks and corrections we find, add in anything fans happen to find and we miss, and have a final version in place.

Owen, what I said is that the final of the PDF could be that far out. Final as in "final". Many publishers keep updating their PDF releases well after they've gone to print, because it's easy to do.
Really, the point I was trying to make is that the prerelease is purely a matter of proofreading for us public folks and Joe Average can get so near 100% use of it as makes no difference.
