This is my recruitment thread for the SFS Quests-Into the Unknown. I've GM'd face-to-face many times, but this will be my first time GMing PbP, so bear with me if there are few hiccups.
I decided to start with Into the Unknown as it is fairly easy to run and is replayable. I have 3 PbP games wrapping soon and I expect to start once they have concluded, which I anticipate will be around the first week in April.
Game Expectations
I expect a posting rate of 2-3 times per day during the business week and 1-2 times over the weekend, though I realize (and expect) that real life can get in the way of fun at times and that not all players will be able to meet that pace. I also expect folks to be unavailable for a period of time. I will be unavailable at the end of May should the game go that long, but I am hopeful that the game can be wrapped up by mid-May, assuming an early April start.
Before the game begins, I will post my current schedule and days that I expect to be unavailable or have only limited availability.
I will bot players who do not post anything within a 24 hour period and will request botting instructions.
Before the game begins, I will post a botting policy similar to those used by other GMs on these boards.
Play-Style
My posts tend often to be heavy on words. Expect my posts to, at times, be heavy in prose, which I hope helps facilitate roleplaying. NPCs will ask questions and expect answers. I try to inject humor and am very predisposed to puns - expect them to be uttered both by NPCs or in OOC text. I also try to encourage creative solutions and thinking outside the box.
I will likely use GM rolls for Initiative, Perception, and a number of other checks. Expect players rolls to primarily be limited to combat. Starship combat will use a streamlined format intended to facilitate faster play. It does not technically follow the rule book, but I have seen it used with success by a number of GMs I respect.
Additional Disclosures
I am looking to level up a few SFS characters fast to take advantage of the higher level scenarios coming out later this summer, so I hope to keep these quests moving quickly.
I am tentatively reserving the first three spots for GMs and players that I have already played PbP games with in the past. The first three folks meeting that criteria will be given seats. Otherwise, it will be first posted, first seated.
If this game sounds like something you'd be interested in, go ahead and post here (so I can readily tell the order of posting and, thus, the order of seating.
Then, put on your helmet, strap in, and enjoy the ride!

Welcome Darqen and Zapp! It looks like one new player, at least new to me, and one familiar face. A good start.
Perhaps, I over-estimated the demand during Outpost or scared folks away with the threat of likely puns? In any event, we still have some time to assemble a crew. I will post again in recruitment in another day or so if we don't have a full complement by then.

GM Valen |

Welcome aboard, Neon Punk!
We have a minimum crew, so the game is go and we'll be playing with the suggested 4-player adjustment. I will put out a final call for recruits as it can't hurt to have one or two more.
I am able to start Monday, 3/26, if you want to get started earlier than planned with the caveat that between next Thursday night through Sunday morning, I will likely not be posting due to the holiday as we are entertaining family. Otherwise, we can start at full-speed on Monday April 2nd and I will put up the briefing around 11 am US East Coast time.

GM Valen |

Still have room? I have a Soldier that could join.
Since we are at six, I want to put it to the others before I include a 7th. If they are okay with it, you will be quite welcome to join us.
That being said, I can certainly sympathize with players who don't want to be part of crowded tables on-line or face-to-face. Also, I want to try and keep a fast pace, so smaller tables are generally more conducive to it.
If we can't squeeze you in this run, I'd be happy to run another table with a seat reserved for you.

GM Valen |

That is quite alright if you are full. No need to crowd. :)
I've put it to the first 6 if they are up for a 7th. I asked them to let me know by Monday morning, US East Coast time. If there are no objections, I'll PM you to let you know you have a spot.
Likewise, if I get another request from a player, I will start another table and PM you to let you know you have a spot.

Medrick just finished his game a lot sooner than I expected so if you were still interested in starting a second table, I have a Android Scholar Soldier who would love to play these quests.
EDIT
I may be wrong, are the quests only playable by a level 1 character? I figured they were levels 1-2, but if not, I retract my statement.

GM Valen |

@ Medrick - These Quests are only for level 1 characters. Although the challenges are labelled, "Subtier 1-2}, there a statements within in the Quests that it "is a series of sort 1-hour quests for 1st level characters" and that it "can be replayed for credit, but the credit must be applied to a different 1st-level character each time". My conclusion is based on these statements.

Hello. New player here, ready to put in interest...If it's not too late.
@ James - Sorry, but the game is full at present and, since we've already started, I'm not willing to split the table at this point. However, I do appreciate your interest. If enough other potential players chime in, then I'd be happy to start a second table.
