... expressely said you cant recharge the card you discard to close it.

Why ? oh why ??

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!

Now, how am I supposed to convince the other players they aren't allowed to recharge other discarded cards ? THANK YOU, PAIZO !

Because of you I always look like the dumb guy that keep inventing rules.

What are you talking about?

You have never been able to recharge a card that was only used to fulfill a discard requirement. This was clarified from almost first release.

If you use a power on the card then you may recharge or attempt a recharge check as specified on a recharge power or the card itself.

I know it has been clarified. The trick is that I am the only one to do the research and go FAQing in the group.

So everytime I come up with a ruling or FAQing that goes against what you can deduct from reading the cards the other player roll eyes, go "yeah sure", and keep thinking I am making on the fly that arrange me.

I haven't the cards on hand but it is a location on the second scenario that require a discard (or banish) to close it.

My grip is that there is more and more cards with text than mud the ruling and seems to imply things that go against the FAQ/CLarification. This isn't a good thing. And I really think you should have had all the cards proofed by cards games/boardgamers and not RPGers.

The problem you are having is that the cards are basically the rules for the game. The rule book itself is only a rough framework to start playing. Since the card supersede anything in the rule book, you need to stop narrowing your vision and accept that the card is correct. Unless errata'd because too many people are getting too nitpicky on everything.

Nathaniel isn't complaining about the rule on the card per se. He's complaining that by printing the following phrase on that one location card: "Discard a card from your hand. This card can't be recharged" that it implies that you normally WOULD be able to recharge cards that you discard from your hand to power things like this. I agree that the wording shouldn't be there, and will probably just cross it out on that card and say it was a FAQ. It doesn't change any rules, it just makes implications that other players who DON'T read the forums or FAQ might misinterpret.

Yeah, consistent wordings on all cards that do the same thing would keep people from questioning why the wordings are similar, but not identical in cases like this.

So the people you play with think you are cheating so you alone will benefit in a cooperative game? Strange.

I'm having a harder time understanding why anyone playing a cooperative game would either a) make up rulings to give himself an advantage, or b) be concerned that someone else was doing so. You're not competing against the other players, so what would be the point of making up advantageous rulings? You all win or lose together.

They are concerned that I keep adding harder rules why they cant see why I add them reading the cards and rulebook.

started to get confused as to when to play non-combat spells after reading other solutions,
e.g detect magic / cure?
should be a spell/actions window in the rules?

1 i give card to some one in same location
( can i cure here?)
2 move
( can i cure here?)
3 explore flip or do nothing ( explore and fight or acquire( is this the only place i can play cure or detect magic and lose the ability to cast say str or acid arrow due to the 1 spell limit?? )
not got rules but is next reset? but can i play my detect magic or cure now?
4 reset hand?

AFAIK, you can play Cure (and any other non-check related boons, including Charisma/Speed/Spyglass/Holy Candle) any time between flipping the blessing deck card and flipping the encounter (location) card. As soon as the location card is 'in play' you cannot cast non-check related spells until that encounter card is resolved and leaves play (e.g. is banished, gained or enters a location deck).

After the encounter is resolved you can again play spells until you declare "end of turn" and reset your hand. I think, strictly speaking, you shouldn't play any more cards until the blessing deck has flipped for the next turn (based on some forum post I saw ages ago but can't remember where), but this has little material difference on the game unless you managed to draw the Holy Candle just before the Blessings Deck ran out.

I've been working on a timing window document, which I'll post on BGG when it's finished!

A very simple thing that you can do. Copy the question and official answer from the site to a PDF or Word document. Print it out and take it with you. As new or other important answers show up, print off another couple pages keep them all in a 3 ring binder. I do that with all the games I play. Same problem, I buy the games, I bring the games to the table we play at, and I have to keep up on the rules and clarifications as they come up. Having it in print stops that you made that up part.

Nathaniel, I do not know if this will work for you or not but for our group. If a question arises, we just pull up the site and have the answer within seconds. Often, I do this while the guys are busy arguing and just highlight the relevant section for them. I know the internet is not everywhere but with smart phones, tablets, and the like it seems it is most places making this a very viable solution for most.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, I understand completely! Good gaming!

Thanks all :)
