As I recall that makes him a Mutate (like Spider-Man), not a Mutant.

Sovereign Court

I'm sure they can't use that term either.

Maybe Inhumate?

Sovereign Court

really? sigh

Why not? That term isn't something that is owned by another company. Even though it sounds dumb.

"Mutated Human" works just as well.

Sovereign Court

Nooooope. Just like fox has the copyright to the word Mutant, so does it have the copyright to the word mutate, as it is used extensively throughout X-men and Deadpool.

Sovereign Court

let's just call them "SUPERS" like they did in the Invincibles... Disney owns the Invincibles right?

That is a "Gifted" idea.

(frankly, I find the X-Men a poor excuse for super-powered beings... before the X-Men, one had to think of a cool origin story for a character's power, but this mutant business came and introduced untold amounts of super powered beings for no good reason - don't give me that crap about evolution taking course over only one or two generations due to pollution etc. if that would be the case the resulting evolution would be "resistance to polluted air" there. done. finished. Bob's your uncle. The term "mutant" would take a whole new meaning and I'm not sure the regular humans - dying horribly of chronic respiratory disorders - would bother "registering" the "humans that look like they're breathing just fine over there")

Is there a source for that? Because "mutate" is such a ubiquitous word, and shows up in several non-Fox/Sony owned Marvel properties, that I have a hard time believing it is.

Sovereign Court

Just like mutant.

Well, wolverine appears in the Avengers, but they can't put him in there and Fox won't allow it.

did you ever watch the Young Justice cartoon. Their whole 2nd season centered around the concept of the Metagene. A small quirk in human DNA that causes some people under extraordinary stress and danger to develop powers instead of dying based on the circumstances they were expossed to. Kind of unified the whole Freak Accident = Superpowers under one umbrella.

Sovereign Court

Young Justice is DC

They can't use Skrulls right now can they. Skrull Kill Krew would have been interesting to see.

most F'ed up reason for super powers I ever saw. Bunch of Skrulls get convinced by Mr. Fantastic that they are cows.

Cows get turned into burgers

people eat Skrullburgers and gain superpowers

Would I be punished too badly for admitting that I enjoyed the first half of the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

I hope not, because I loved it!

I'm truly amazed at the high standards that so many people seem to have. When it started I thought it was good, and it was fun... Coulson was amazing and witty and made me laugh with almost every one of his deadpan humor lines... and the show has only gotten better since then.

There are a LOT of shows out there that I enjoy a LOT less then SHIELD, but I still find them interesting enough to keep watching O.o

Not everything has to be 'GREAT' to still be 'Good'...

The song that the music box was playing is the other clue.

-- Add to that, her father is an unstable medical professional (a.k.a., Dr. Calvin Zabo) with strength far higher then he should have.
-- Add to that, his daughter became a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.

Yes, it is not the only possible explanation. Skye's father could still be Maximus the Mad, but it is more likely that Maximus is reserved for an Inhumans movie - but Mr Hyde is minor enough to be available to AoS.

So, if Skye is Daisy, then who is Raina?

Shadow Lodge

A random expendable, once we find out who Sky and B.O.B. really are.

Darn it, you're making too much sense. I really wanted Dr Daddy to be Maximus, but form the hints, Hyde does seem more likely.

Yeah? I'll have to go back and watch it again... the music didn't mean anything to me...

As for Hyde, Anything is possible in this show... but man I'll be disappointed if she becomes 'daisy'. I hated that character. Hyde has such a long history... and really nothing to do with kree or aliens or inhumans... sooooo they'll be rewriting a lot more then ever really 'fits'...

Admittedly I also hate the inhumans in general... so regardless, I'll probably be disappointed in however this turns out ;)

I REALLY... REALLY like the SHIELD team being 'the ordinary guys' dealing with Extraordinary problems...

once they activate her powers... and eventually get deathlok on the team... that aspect REALLY starts to go away :(

phantom, the song was 'Bicycle Built For Two'. It starts out 'Daisy, Daisy'.

If true, that may explain why no one ever asked our ranting Dr Daddy what her name really was every time he freaked out about her being called 'Skye'.

Or it could be a red herring, like "Grima" from last season and "Xena" from this season's opener. They know they're catering to a comic-detail-obsessed fanbase. It wouldn't surprise me if they're just messing with the audience (since most people aren't going to get the "Daisy" reference).

We'll see.

I think Brad Douriff and Lucy Lawless are a bit different sort of Red Herrings though. They were cast primarily for shock value when they were killed.

Casual viewers really are not going to even remotely pick up on these clues, so it's a nice nod to fans while providing some foreshadowing.

At any rate I could still be surprised, but I tend to believe the Zabo/Daisy rumor. At the very least, there has been enough secrecy about the identities of Skye and her father that I have to believe they are existing comic characters.

Think of WHEN the X-Men came out. The point of the series was not to get into a biological treatise on the nature of super powers. It's to tell a story of race prejudice and hatried in a different way. The mutant question was a way to tackle on a story that couldn't be done face on... racial prejudice and xenophobia.

Heh, Marvel's mutants were officially ruled as "nonhuman creatures" by a United States federal court.

It looked all too relevant when two cop cars pulled up either side of nick fury's SUV in captain america 2 and he asked them if they wanted to see a reciept.

#1:
I bow to those with greater recognition of Marvel supers. But, darn it, I STILL wanted Dr. Daddy to be Maximus. Sigh.

#2:
As for Rayna? If the rampant FB speculation is right and she's Tigra!!!! I'm going to make a personal appearance on the show to off her! No. NO, NO, NO!!!! I liked Tigra. I hate Rayna.

#3:
Skye. Next time you shot someone, make sure they're dead! Especially HIM!

Spoiler:

They killed Tripp. I'm so unhappy about the way he died, very unfulfilling.

The rest of the episode was awesome. I loved they way SkyeDaisy lit Ward up.

The door has been opened for the Inhumans and it looks like we're going to see plenty of them.

But, dang, I'll miss Tripp.

hide:
There is a mutant called Raina but she is a reptilian creature with enhance physical abilities and sharp claws. There are multiple female cat based inhumans that are not Tygra, so she could be them. Or she could be something completely different and made up.

hide:
It is sad about Trip but at least they got Mac back who I like better anyway.

I agree that it was a bummer Tripp got offed. I really liked him.

It'll be interesting to see how Rayna and Skye come out of this changed. I thought I saw claws on Rayna, and some weird skin (cat or reptilian). Let the speculation commence.

I get the feeling we didn't really see everything there is to see about Skye Daddy.

Huzzah for Mac being cured!

Awesome how Skye popped a few caps into Ward. Dude's a douche. But he's also one of those characters I like simply because he's a wild card. Whenever you bring him in, you just don't know how shit's going to go down.

I thought I saw Quills. any sort of porqupine villainesses

Dark Archive

I don't think there are really big spoilers for studious fans below if you have gotten this far, in case though, SPOILERS below.

--

I did hate how they killed Tripp, they could have killed him in combat with Whitehall, with both bodies conveniently lost.

The moment the Doctor introduced himself as "Cal" I realized the internets were right for a change and his character was indeed Calvin Zabo/Mr. Hyde (no major surprise for those making speculations) and that his daughter was Skye/Daisy Johnson/Quake.

Being exposed to the terrigen crystals makes Raina what?

Some people are saying Tygra, but I don't I don't think so, not the right fit.

Possibly the Inhuman Minxi.

I think the second half of season 2 will have some great moments as Skye/Daisy/Quake learns to use her powers. Does she become part of the Avengers Initiative?

Nah ... She will remain an agent of SHIELD.

In the end credit scene, is that the Inhuman named Reader?

Is Whitehall dead? What if his abilities included some form of regeneration, although the Doctor would have known that being that his wife possessed the abilities.

Why do I hear motorboats revving...?

I didn't really see much feline about Raina..more reptile or even bird. There apparently is a Marvel reptilian character named Raina, so maybe that is the answer?

I think Whitehall is dead...and while anti-climatic, it did fit with how thin went. Curious how the Hydra plotline will develop next year, or if the rest of the second season is going to focus on Inhuman stuff.

what if those were thorns on Raina, plant based abilities. Shw always liked flowers
