Hi there!
I'm usually a lurker in most communities I've ever been a part of and this one is no exception. Though I was a backer for both Kickstarters, I didn't pay much attention to the actual progress on the game before a few weeks ago. I've slowly been catching up on all the threads here since then.
As of yet I haven't settled on what kind of character I want to play so I'm unaffiliated for now. I've had alt-itis in nearly every MMO I've played before so I want to make sure I come up with a character I can stick with this time. I initially had my mind set on a dwarven paladin so somewhere like Forgeholm or Ozem's Vigil seemed appealing, but I also think a character more oriented toward managing markets as part of a widespread merchant guild or serving with an independent mercenary company could be a lot of fun too. I just can't decide!

Nice to meet you Durinthal. Jump in, the water's fine! :)

Welcome Durinthal!
I personally plan on playing a merchant for Ozem's Vigil; even the settlements that are not declaring themselves as trade hubs will need merchant-types to keep the logistical pipes unclogged, so at the moment you should have no issue finding a group needing someone in that capacity should you plan on playing a merchant (and yes, we will need more than one merchant in Ozem's too!).
If you can't decide, you could just dip your toe into a lot of professions in-game and get a feel for what works best for yourself.

Hi there!
Welcome! If you supported both kickstarters then you probably have a Destinies Twin. DT will allow to have another character that levels up with your main. So you can have both a paladin and a merchant. You should consider Freevale as an option for a merchant character. We already have several.

Cal B,
I had forgotten about that recent development, my bad. :(
I will send him a PM asking if he is ok with me updating it.
As I do find this list useful, I don't mind working on it as long as people keep posting. I'll updated it during the weekend (if Pax Keovar is ok with that), so new people have time to introduce themselves!

Hello all! I am new member of the UnNamed Company. I mainly lurk around the forums in games that I play with the occasional post. I backed both Kickstarters, but haven't really been paying too much attention to the development.
I usually prefer some type of chaotic neutral/good character as I always do what I feel is right when making decisions not necessarily what the law says is right, and then again... Sometimes I just like to see the world burn ;)

Okay, this is probably my last update post for this thread. After this point, Giorgio or someone else can take over updating it.
You can change it as you see fit, but I tried to follow a few policies:
It's opt-in only, so I don't dig through other sources. If someone wants to be listed, they need to come post in this thread themselves.
Even if another member of someone's group throws in a name to add,
I don't add it unless that person comes to post here themselves.
I try to stick to the information provided by the poster. Even if I happen to know the alignment of a group, I don't list it unless a leader requests it. If somebody had wanted a description of their group, I probably would have just added a link to their recruitment thread rather than bloat the list and give myself more to edit.
I try to copy the forum handle someone posts under, not any character name they give. This is a listing of forum members.
I removed Qallz and never added his Xorgrond puppet, since he just made those forum accounts to troll with.
I alphabetize names of groups and players, ignoring articles like "the" or punctuation at the beginning of a name. If the group has a leader listed, that person gets bumped to the top, regardless of alphabetical order.
I bold and italicize the group names, and I come up with a 2-5 letter 'tag' to put after member names. If the group offers a different tag of their choosing, I'll use it, unless it's very long or matches another group's tag.

If anyone wants to buy a basic EE account (it was a '2nd month' one, before thoser were altered to 1st), let me know. I got it as part of the deal when I sold my alpha account, but I don't think I'll use it.
I do think the PFO is being built on some good ideas, I just don't think I will have the time and energy to play a competitive PVP game with my MS fatigue, and I'm trying to do some volunteer stuff with local friends when I can manage it. I'm still a gamer, I'm just better suited to slower-paced & low-stress stuff these days. :)
Thanks, friends, it was good to get to know you a bit. Have fun storming one another's castles!

My name is Yelta in pretty much every MMO I have ever played (currently playing FFXIV). I pledged to the kickstarter the moment I saw the words 'Pathfinder' and 'sandbox' in the same paragraph. I pledged at the 'Crowdforger Buddy' level to drag my sister with me as I do on most of my MMO adventures. She's usually a tank and I'm usually a healer so it works out nicely.
I'm probably going to be a cleric and I'm probably best described as NG but I might just play 2 characters and do something different with the 2nd one.
I love to have adventures slaying monsters as well as gathering and crafting. I'm a team player and don't play MMO's to play alone so I like to find a good group to hang with. I prefer a smaller tight knit family type group where I really get to bond with other people vs just being a name on a roster. I'm rusty at RP but am tempted to take it up.
I don't generally enjoy Pvp when it is me getting killed gathering berries or crafting but do enjoy a skirmish here and there out in the wilds. Part of me wants to see a full scale settlement raid hehe.
IRL I am a married mother of 3 working as a programmer/analyst. In my spare time I blog and podcast about a different MMO.
I tend to be chatty and opinionated on forums so you all will probably get sick of me posting.

I would dearly love to see someone in Ozem's Vigil to rival Caldeathe at "opinionated". ;)

Call me Blaz. I've been extremely excited about this game since kickstarter. I never did get around to backing though. I've been checking up on it from time to time and just bought a basic EE package. I don't know how much I'll post but I'll probably be lurking almost daily now.
I've played Pathfinder and D&D 3.5 for years. We had a home grown setting so I'll have to do some research on Golarion.
I'll be attempting to put together small, loyal mercenary company and hoping I'll be able to roll up an anti-paladinish character.
After browsing this forum for a bit, I have to say that this is the friendliest, most cooperative gaming forum I have ever seen. I'll definitely be happy to be apart of the community.

I've recently joined Full Metal Syndicate of Ozem's Vigil. This is a point where I'm glad I've come to the party late. Waiting on a game for about two years sounds painful and I feels for all of you patient people.
I'm looking forward to trying to make a character with the abilities I want and hoping he'll be playable. I also love the almost required social aspect of the game. It's why I enjoy MMORPGs.

I had a philosophy professor in college who had a set of terrible "-ness jokes", and used them every semester. The two I recall off-hand were "Elliot-Ness" (fewer and fewer undergrads got that joke every year, and this was two decades ago), and referring to the "vodka-ness, I mean water-ness" of the contents of the bottle on his desk. I'm pretty sure there was a "loch-ness" joke in there somewhere, too.
Edit: While I'm here, I might as well explain my compound handle.
Back in the year 2000, I was active in the Society for Creative Anachronism, using Karl as the first name of my persona/character. I first met the 2-year old daughter of some friends at an SCA event, so they introduced me to her as Karl. A week or two later, when I met up with the family in normal clothes, they tried to tell their daughter that my name was Bob.
This little girl was only 2, but she knew better than to believe that load of bunk. "No. His name is Karl," she said. Those wily parents couldn't trick her! The best they could do was a compromise. For the next couple of years, among that group of friends I was KarlBob. I used it to set up an email account, and it's still my handle of choice online.
Note: Yes, it has occurred to me that the 2 year old turned/will turn 16 this year. Please don't remind me.

When I was studying the Russian language in college, I remember feeling quite enlightened to learn that "voda" is "water" and that the "-ka" suffix is the standard diminutive, like "-ette" in many English words. So "vodka" is actually something like "little water" :)
So in one sense, that bottle held vodka-ness either way. Neat.

Hey all, Ogre here, Lurker Extraordinaire. I've probably read thousands of pages of forums here, but not so much on the posting.
I was a backer of both Kickstarters, and I've been hanging around, checking in a bit more recently, awaiting the EE. I'm trying to time when it will start so I can take a couple days off work to play with it.
The only affiliation I can list is the Dagedai Alliance, as I joined up with them as part of the land rush awhile back.

Well, totally missed this thread, glad someone necro'd it back to life.
Background-Gaming since Pong, if it's an MMO i've probably played, tested or dived into most of them since UO. My longest stint was SWG of course 5 accts for 5 yrs full 8 characters max'd. Most of my time there i spent running a brothel/strip club on tatooine on the Kauri server (Agamemnon my main and elder /bilcli on the euro server). Tasted most of SOE's products, EQ 1&2, CB, ps1/ps2, dcuo/champions/coh/cov, Vanguard, as well as many other regulars, Conan, Star Trek, Daoc,DDO, LOTRO, SWTOR and EVE.
I'm a long time table top gamer going back to RedBox during middle school lunch hour. I play every other Tuesday in a homegrown PathFinder ES Skyrim game and Saturdays in an Ashen Stars sci-fi game with close friends.
I'm also the former lead designer for the Mech mmorpg project Force of Arms (defunct). I have taken a little bit of a break in the amount of mmo's I play over the last few years (getting older I guess/have less time) so i'm down to one I play serious right now Ascent a free space mmo and soon this.
I've been to DragonCon 9yrs running, Thanks and shout out to the devs (jason?) that were there that reminded me of the PFO enrollment. I went first as a guest speaker for the aforementioned game. It's the best 4 days you'll ever spend for labor day weekend and well worth the trip to Nerd Mecca for anyone who has never been. Fortunately I live here close by and am a member of the local game dev groups as well as a few gamer groups.
I'm a Super Hardcore Casual PvPer who likes to Craft/RolePlay and run dungeons/raids and PVE content. - That bout sums it up for me :D
Look forward to seeing ya'll in game.

My old server, too, although I didn't play all that long. If you remember a Wookie named Chiirymatharry, that was me. Some friends were Drrlo, Torg Smith, Mai'kess Kifoo (love that name!), Ithamar, and others but I'm having trouble remembering their names.

I started playing MMOs with WoW and have been hooked ever since. At this point I have played EVE, LOTRO, STO, Rift, ESO, DDO, and a couple others I can't think of currently. I have only been playing tabletop games for the last few years, when I started playing Pathfinder with one of the local groups.
I was a backer of both kickstarters, and have been lurking pretty much since these forums went up. Now that the game is getting closer to EE I have been posting more.

I was a member of the dev cadre at Dragoncon in Atlanta back in... was it '86? '87? for PBM design (Baron, an effort to simulate Europe, the near east, and north Africa circa A.D 1000. political, economic, and military) that never got past alpha because it took so much time to printout, fold and mail turn results and I couldn't solve for my European testers.
Anyway, I appreciate that someone else of that era is here with us.

Now you have Crusader Kings 2! :-)

Crusader Kings is set later. The Normans were still in Normandy and the Saxons and Danes still quarreled over Britain. The Magyar were the terror in the East and a remarkable culture was still dominating North Africa, but yes, at a Baronial level it was something like that. I talk a little about it at my personal site here if anyone is mildly interested (look out for the midi music I put in the background there). I still own the copyrights over the design.

Oh, sorry, I was making my estimate based on the humorous video. A.D. 867 is very much like A.D. 1000. I had a range of years I focused on in my research that extended back about that far.
It had a very interesting economic game I felt, dependent on NPC traders and set traderoutes between the iron deposits in Scandinavia, the oriental trade, and Ivory from Africa though there was provision for player caravans. Trade interdiction was performed by NPC bandits, and warlords operated used unoccupied player positions, all to be on an autopilot function and each had a rudimentary AI.
Turn based with a weekly cycle, for 200 players I discovered it might take eighty hours just to stuff and mail player turn results.
I had much to learn, and between the game, supporting my family with two jobs, and post grad studies I lost my relationship with my wife and folded my hand after notifying my testers, I think all of whom were very handsome and forgiving..
