I feel very tempted now to post a whiny post full of misplaced entitlement in hopes of accelarating the shipment of my order, in hopes of waking up tomorrow to my PDF. ;)
Oh, shush. Only about 15% of my regular non-shipping-related posts are probably whiny and entitled, I think I got a pretty good average on saying moderately intelligent things. :p
Well you are an international customer so the pdfs are the only thing keeping you sane, until the books arrive (after they sit about 2 weeks in customs.
....I wonder if the promise of cake would motivate the warehouse staff to expedite specific orders?

(There is no cake, well there is some but it is in Germany, sooo....)

Sebastian Hirsch wrote:Just out of curiosity, I usually purchase a gift card ahead of time and redeem it ahead of time, to pay for my subscriptions (my debit card has caused delays before). Would it be an option for subscribers, if they have sufficient store credit, to receive their pdf earlier?
After all as far as my debit card company is concerned, I always buy gift cards and receive within seconds^^ (And yes I am always greedy when it comes to new paizo stuff^^
Since our system is set up to only charge once your order ships, it also does not deduct your store credit until this time. Much like a credit card authorization, you can set-aside store credit towards an order, but it is not actually used until we process your order for shipping.

Customer Service
Oh I see, if you ever decide to tinker with the process, it would be very welcome if you could add the option. I can only speak for myself, but I would love the option to be charges quicker, even if the physical products are in limbo for a week or two (even if that means that we can not add to current orders)

I'm figuring on being near the end thanks to stuff added on to the subscription items. Though I certainly won't mind if I'm wrong.
Yeah I kinda think I am in the same boat...which I have to say kinda sucks. I mean my reward for spending more money is I have to wait longer...
I know organization probably make it that way...still it is kinda of annoying that people can get the pdf before the subscribers. And kinda feeling disgruntled because I am being 'punished' for spending more money with the company.
I should add that while I am not terribly please with this situration...overall I am very happy with the customer service of Pazio...this is a minor glitch so far...probably all Cosmo's fault also.
Steve Geddes |
Whilst I obviously endorse the blaming of Cosmo for the world's injustices, I believe the shipping process is more complicated than that.
I seem to remember a thread where exactly this point was made and that Paizo CS explained that it is not always the case that "extras" delay a shipment. Some months those subscribers with additional sidecart orders go first, sometimes last and sometimes some of them go first and some go last. Similarly, Superscribers are sometimes near the front of the queue and sometimes near the back.
That doesnt help if you happen to be in the batch that does go last, but it does at least speak to the 'fairness' of it all.
The fact I dont have a link explaining this in more detail is probably Cosmo's fault as well.

I must admit it is indeed unfortunate that the PDFs are now available for anyone who submits an order right now, while as a subscriber my order was generated a week ago and I must continue to wait for access.

But you can get the PDFs just as soon as those folks, right now, by doing what they did - buy the PDF. What we can't get until our physical order of the print version ships is the free PDF that comes with a subscription.
I'm pretty sure that if I bought a print+PDF bundle (were such a thing on the product list) I wouldn't get access to the PDF of that, either, until the print version ships; Vic has explained that credit card rules prevent them from charging for a product until the order is about to ship. With the Gen Con disruption to shipping, I have no idea when an order placed today would be filled; I wouldn't think it would go to the head of the queue.
magnuskn |
But then you'd be paying for the PDF that is supposed to be a free benefit of your subscription. I'm not going to pay for my PDF. I'm just a little disappointed this month is all.
Same here. And simply impatient to get my hands on the adventure! ;)
Zaister |
JohnF, actually I have bought Print+PDF bundles on multiple occasions and gotten access to the PDF immediately, even when then print edition wasn't yet available. Examples are Way of the Wicked books.
I'm not really complaining, just venting off some frustration by stating that this is a bit unfortunate. One feels let down a bit, but I certainly understand the mechanics, and I'm not asking Paizo to change their modus operandi here.

So we don't mess with that. :)

Interesting. Kind of silly to have a rule they don't uniformly enforce. I mean look at Kickstarter and Amazon Payments. I've pre-paid literally over a year in advance for stuff there.

Technically, Kickstarter isn't a store. You're not purchasing anything, you're backing a project. When you get your rewards isn't something the CC companies care about, since it wasn't a straight up purchase.
That said, the rules are absolutely not uniformly enforced. I've pre-paid months in advance for perfectly normal purchases on a credit card (though never with Amazon, they're very good about that).

Well griping about it to my wife isn't garnering much sympathy. She keeps telling me to stop reading rule books and get back to Harry Potter. But I have to justify all the money we spend on Paizo products somehow.....

I feel your pain (I haven't got my shipping note yet), but I do understand the 'special situation' GenCon is and that a problem like this, appearing once a year and with no greater penalizing then a few days worth of waiting isn' too high on Paizos to do list.
While I understand this...and this is my first gen con for subsciption...so I don't know if it is like this every year. It is not like they did not know Gen Con is coming. As a matter of fact it come this time of year every year.
So while I understand this problem...I also think it is something Pazio could improve on...haveing learned from previous years.

Yeah, I haven't gotten my ship notice or PDFs yet. It's a bummer, for sure. But ship (sic) happens, sometimes things get behind schedule. Frankly, I think this is the first time since last GenCon that they've been this behind. If subscribers were getting their PDFs after the general live date on a regular basis, then we'd have something real to complain about. The vast majority of the time, though, I get my PDFs on or before the general live date, so I'm overall happy with the process.
Still, please ship today. Please ship today. Please ship today. 8^)

I think one of the problems is that they will try to get as many books as possible out for GenCon. I could imagine that this prevents them from shipping subscriptions before the conrush.

Unless I remember incorrectly, this is the first time it has been this bad.

How bad is it? I imagine most subscriptions are already out and that I am among a few unfortunate souls stranded in the special hell of 'please ship today'...

Well, you normally get your PDF about one week before the official release date. We are now two days after the official release date and I have been refreshing the main page like a maniac every day since Monday. :-/
Enlight_Bystand |
Normally they start a week earlier, but I suspect that the shipment didn't arrive in time to do that.
Also on the theory that we're almost done - the original estimate was that shipping would take until next Friday, so I would not be confident of that. It takes about a week to do a standard sub shipment, which is less work than this and half the warehouse staff are in Indy supporting Gencon.

Starting to get mad......Yesterday I was disappointed the PDF's didn't come out after I had been looking forward to them for a week ( and this AP since the first campaign setting book)all the while each product was counting down to yesterday.
Now, I am getting upset that people can purchase them and read them. When I look at the top of my screen and it still says," purchased on Aug 8th". and nothing.... Guess instead of reading my PDF's I will watch The Browns Pre-season game.
Who would have thought Paizo would let me down more than my football team.

Do think it is interesting that most of us who have posted here spend on the average of $30-120 dollars a month on Paizo products, but we don't have our orders but any knuckhead at GenCon can pick it up a book there. I understand it's the big show and should be given special attention for sell and possible new customers, but at least mail out all the subscribers stuff so we can get our orders at the same time. If something happens to where you can not do that send us an email saying as such with an apology.
We are special people too.

Isn't that what Sara Marie did in the first post in this thread? Granted, it's neither an e-mail nor an apology, but they were upfront about not all subscriptions being shipped before Gen Con.
Paizo Subscriptions, Battles and Comics for people choosing "hold for monthly"
- Estimated Auth (order spawning): August 8th
- Estimated ship start: August 12
- Estimated ship finish: August 23
You might notice there is a two week timeframe for shipping the main August shipment. This is due to part of our warehouse staff being at Gen Con and part because there is just so much coming out in August.

Geez, people here are starting to sound like a lot of Reaper Bones pledgers. Your daily lives must really be shining examples of perfection if a slight delay in getting a pdf can get you this riled up.
If you want to complain about that, then just be lucky that your August shipment wasn't divided into two separate shipments so you'll have to pay import duties for two packages instead of just one. I'd happily exchange the extra $29 (+ 25% of the total value of the order) I'll have to pay for the second package for having to wait a few extra days for the pdf. Oh wait, I have to do that too, since only one of the two packages has been sent so far.
John Kretzer |
And as noted elsewhere Brent, they can't due to the credit card agreements.
The thing is for me atleast this is not true. I pay for my subscription through store credit by buying gift certificts ahead of time. Since the deduct the total for my purchase this month August 8...I have technically already paid for it.
As I said it is not that big of a deal...it though slightly annoying.

For myself, I only have both my kids for a few weeks in the summer, so I was kind of hoping I'd get the Card Game before they left for school. If my order ships out on Monday or Tuesday we might get a chance to play before they leave, but otherwise we won't have a chance until Christmas. :(
Ah well.

Personally, I think this is some sort of Karmic deal for being among the first orders out last month. But then I look at the size of my order, and I suspect that I will be among the last. Either or, the waiting is the hardest part.

Bah. I always happy with paizo customer service. They are fast to get back to you, keen to correct issues and communicative. So there's a delay at the same time as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, convention for gaming. It's only an extra week over the norm. as an international customer it will still take 1 1/2 to 3 weeks to get to me (USPS priority mail, but sadly to regional Australia). Be patient and give them a break at the busy time. PDF's will be there soon, but I'll still have to wait weeks for my minis :(
