Hi Dave. I didn't know this was ready for order until I saw your post. I went and pre-ordered, paid with pay pal and clicked on the link and it took me to the file.
I don't know. That a-plus site is always wonky to me. I clicked on my subs and it gives me an error. Plus all my book pdfs are no longer on there as well. The big one is ToHC and I lost the file on my PC. :(

DaveMage, not sure what is going on. I was not aware that the Stoneheart Valley pdf was available until I saw your message (I thought FGG was going to release Tome of Horrors 4 this month). I ordered it, and there was a link to it in my receipt after paying via paypal. The link worked for me with no problems. Check your electronic receipt if you still have it. If not, Bill and the FGG crew frequent these boards and should be able to help you soon.

You should shoot FGG a mail then. I'm sure they'll get you the PDFs if you can prove the purchase (mail or order number. Heck it should be in their system somewhere)

The on he is referring to is the FGG product website. Sounds like others are not having the problem getting it now that it is available though.

I got an e-mail from Bytes - they are working on it. (Yay!)
So, the snafu is....the file wasn't ready to release yet. We didn't announce it because they were still working on it, and a few super-quick people nabbed it before all the bugs were worked out on the data side.
We're getting everything worked out, and will let you guys know when it's all good!

The price FGG has to pay for rabid fans.... :)
everyone should have such a problem lol
AFAIK, the pdfs will have to be re-downloaded, if you're having a problem. I really don't deal with that side of it, but it makes sense in my little pea-brain.
and BTW, books area scheduled to be available at GenCon, so that's when you guys can start getting all super-crazy lol

I probably will. Already planning on picking up at least a Tome of Horror 4.

OK just had a look at the FGG sight. So this is Wizard's Amulet, Cricible of Freya and Tomb of Abysthor updated for Pathfinder? That is sweet I will certainly buy, but man I got my hopes up for a second that this was the setting!
Bah! This is Wizard's Amulet, Crucible of Freya and Tomb of Abysthor updated for Swords & Wizardry! (And Pathfinder too, I guess, if you roll that way.)

For better or worse I am still spending all my time and energy on the fool's errand of trying to play classic old-school fantasy campaigns with pathfinder as a ruleset.
I think at this point the only reason I haven't switched to a retro-clone or the reprint of Rules Cyclopedia is that it took me so long to learn all these excruciating mechanics I want to at least use them for a while. And to be fair there is a lot that I love about 3.x, and I'm convinced that in the hands of the right DM and players it could still feel fast and loose and gritty and all the things that say "D&D" to me.
The only time I've actually since that in action though was the first PF campaign I ran. Neither I nor the players new what we were doing so it was fun. Now it's become more of a game about building new characters every week then actually going on heroic adventures.

Brvheart, how do you handle replacements for characters that "retire"? In my current campaign I am penalizing the new character one level. APL -1. They take a big hit on wealth though, because my campaign doesn't really feature much magic shopping in magic marts, so a sudden influx of WBL equivalent gear custom tailored to a build would be unbalanced against the rest of the party who largely work with what they find.
New characters that replace ones who have died are coming in at the same level as the one who died, but again with very small starting wealth. I encourage the party to stockpile gear to outfit new PC's and keep them surviving and contributing. Again, I thought this would make sense because there are fewer opportunities to sell off gear in my campaign then in a standard modern game.
I thought this was a good idea and my players seemed enthusiastic about agreeing to it but they are still switching characters left and right. I take it as a sign that I'm failing to get them engaged and immersed in the campaign, but they keep coming back and seem to be having fun. Maybe it is something about having all that crunch that makes them so fickle.
Anyway back on topic... bought the PDF it rocks.

I have elected to do the same APL -1 for retired characters or replacement characters for suicides and starting gold is lower than the party by about a half a level. I agree, being that Bard's Gate is 200+ miles from RA, it is not like they can just run into town every time they want to. Even Zelkor's Ferry is a week away and it is little more than a hamlet. This party largely has not been able to get much more than what they could find except a few items made at Zelkor's Ferry at full book price. I don't run the type of campaign that you can go to the big box store of magic anywhere. In RC, the players were aghast that they had to pay a 20% premium on magic items even in a major city as he was the only legitimate game in town. Stoneheart Valley is kind of like an old fungus, it kind of grows on you:) I don't regret buying a newer version and will eventually run it again on unsuspecting newbies! My hard copy should be here on Monday along with RC I think.

I asked this question on the Necromancer/FGG boards but don't have an answer yet, so I'll ask it here as well:
When will Stoneheart Valley be available to order from Paizo?
I live in Canada and have an Pathfinder AP subscription, so it's much cheaper for me to order SHV directly from Paizo given their lower shipping fees.

Sometime after GenCon, when the books are released.
