I don't know when they'll get them set, but Liz does a great job of announcing.

Sent another email to check status of this, don't know what the scoop is yet.

Thanks Skeeter, I was going to order from Piazo as well. Appreciate it.

Thanks Skeeter!

Still no love for Stoneheart Valley. Getting very sad.

I'm almost done a read through of the S&W version that I bought at GenCon. Now, I want to get the PF version. The designer geek in me loves comparing encounter design and other mechanics between the two systems.

I'm still waiting for an adamantine bookshelf stamped with the Frog God Games, Necromancer Games, Mythmere Games, and Swords & Wizardry logos to be offered as an add-on to one of their Kickstarters.

I bought a new bookshelf just last year and already the shelves are starting to warp and bend. This weekend, I had to take all my PF books out(which include a lot of FGG and S&W stuff)and flip the shelf over so hopefully it'll bend back the other way. So yes, I totally agree with you that FGG needs to make an adamantine bookshelf.

Bookshelf? I have 5 full bookcases and more in boxes! I went to heavy duty bookcases about six years ago as standard ones didn't hold up!

The updated versions of CoF and ToA are very well done, made even more so by the delicious availability of the Hero Lab files! The only way it could better is if there were HL files for Slumbering Tsar so I could roll my VTT-based group right onto that after Tomb of Abysthor :-)

You didn't really think I was gonna comment on an FGG product and not pick at that particular scab, did ya Skeeter!?!

But really, FGG did a great job on the PF update to the CoF and ToA. Hopefully at least 1 product a year from FGG will be a similar update to one of the classic NG products. There are some real gems still out there like Lost City of Barakus, Vault of Larin Karr, Trouble at Durbenford, City of Brass (please o please o please), etc.

It's just been listed on paizo.com as a preorder which seems a little odd.

Not really—just means we haven't added physical stock to inventory yet. :)

Ah, thanks Liz. I can file away another piece of "how the RPG world works" information. :)

Thanks Skeeter! Thanks Liz!

Just preordered the print/pdf bundle of Stoneheart Valley S&W edition, and it looks great!

Question for Skeeter: I got the pathfinder pdf as well. I haven't read them fully, but when I compare it looks like there's some differences between them beyond just stats. I'm actually very excited about this, but was just curious how this came about?

For example, in the Wizard's amulet, the S&W edition has a big section on half-orcs that's doesn't seem to appear in the PF edition. Again, I haven't actually read through each of these (although I've read all of the original adventures) so I could be mistaken in my assessment.

Also: Love the Rock quotes!

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK! <Rock quote> lol

There were a few spots where the S&W and Pathfinder paths had to diverge. There are no official half-orcs in S&W, but a certain NPC (a couple, really) HAD to be half-orcs. Also, in the Tomb proper, their are several differences, mostly monsters, but some tactics as well. There is a particular undead that got a much more in-depth treatment in the S&W version than in the PF version.

Sometimes, we like to mix things up, as well as incorporate and expand on the fundamental differences between S&W and Pathfinder.

Yup--bad deal w/the printer--they accidentally shipped all to me. Working on logistics of getting over to Liz and pals

Does the Stoneheart Valley include the Tomb of Abysthor errata ? (http://necromancergames.yuku.com/topic/5453/Tomb-of-Abysthor-Errata?page=2 #.UsR2_NLuLmc)

Like the missing stairs in level 4 from level 1, are such things right in the new version (text and maps) ?

Thanks !

Layout and Design, Frog God Games

Skeeter will have to definitively answer that one, Azoun, but as far as I know he scoured the errata threads for every update we've done of the Necromancer Games material.

How urgently do you guys want a review of this one? More urgently than for RC? Or less? Because I need to decide which of the big FGG-endeavor I'll tackle next.

Stoneheart Valley isn't all that big, it is only 180 pages including legal. Razor Coast is three times that.

I definitely would love a review for Stoneheart Valley, as I'm still running the original Tomb of Abysthor but playing with Pathfinder rules :-)

I still hesitate to pick up the updated version, maybe your review could help ;-)

Your answer is pretty vague... but I guess you're still recovering from the mega New Year's party with Orcus, Thyr, and Muir ;-)

I'm running the Tomb of Abysthor (my favorite from Necromancer Games by the way, so thank you !), it's been more than a year and a half with a nice classic team (fighter/barbarian/rogue/cleric/wizard), and level 4 seems to be the next place the PCs will set foot on... clearly a possible TPK, as everything could go wrong with a bad save, but that's what we love !

I'm playing under Pathfinder rules, so switching to Stoneheart Valley would definitely make sense, but only if the new product is 100% reliable ! I hope you can give me a more precise answer so I can click on the purchase button without hesitation !

No product is 100% reliable and no rpg is errata free, but FGG does a pretty good job of getting things done. I own the originals also so for me it was a no brainer to do the upgrade. I trust FGG to make a good game.

I have it and it looks good to me. I think you should go ahead and get it since you are running it now since it will save you a lot of trouble. It is a very nice hardcover.

Just talking about fGG products I have a few YouTube video reviews of them if you are interested. Rappan Athuk Review . I liked the products enough that I started doing podcasts with my club. If y'all are interested here's the Slumbering Tsar one! there's three out right now.

Azoun: I'm not going to say we got 100% of all errata; I'm sure there is something wrong in there somewhere. I have yet to see a 100% flawless product, from any publisher. I do know that all compiled errata has been fixed, so anything I'm aware of is fixed in the new version.

PF64: Thank you for that. Appreciated. :-)

Probably should do Razor Coast first, as its been out longer.

When I wrote "100% reliable" it was of course in regard to the errata from the previous version of ToA, I surely understand that every product comes with some errors no matter how much hardwork you deliver on it !

Still you don't answer about the 4th level access bug in ToA... if I'm asking about it, it's because it's the most annoying mistake I faced while running ToA.

Sorry if I insinst, but for me a revised and updated version should be clean on such issues.

Sadly, that error does not seem to have been corrected in the new version. I can find nothing on the maps that indicate where the Level 1 passage (from area 12) leads to on Level 4.

The level 1 map does indeed say, right on the map, where the passage from level 1 ends up on level 2 (Area 25) and level 4 (Area 7). It does not say it in text, however.

Thank you DaveMage for checking out, too bad it didn't get fixed...

Oh, so you merged those stairs if I get it right ?

Yes, that's correct - stairs are merged. Skeeter is correct - not sure how I missed that. The Level 1 map now says "To Level 2 Area 25 and Level 4 Area 7". While it *is* on the new map for level 1, it does not indicate anything on the map for level 4 nor in the text for either level.

Guys couldn't you just decide where you want the stairs to come out if it was missing?

Hey Frogs do you have an ETA on d20pro files for stoneheart valley?

Grimmy wrote:

Here was the location from the original errata thread:

Orcus wrote:

Stairs from Level 1 to Level 4.

Those stairs should lead to area 12 of level 4.

There should be a short passage running from west to east, 30 feet long, with the westernmost 20 feet filled with stairs that enters into the large cavern at area 12 on the level 4 map in the middle of the western wall of that cavern (just about even with the "12" on the map, actually). Those stairs lead up to the stairs on Level 1, area 12.

heh, davrion you may have misread my intent, I wasn't addressing the frogs.

My point was that I wouldn't let some missing stairs stop me from enjoying a great updated book. It's so easy to decide which room those stairs lead to and just keep playing.

But, I understand. I get hung up on certain things myself at times.

Scarab Sages

OK, I thought you were just asking where they were supposed to be.

No I was saying it shouldn't be a deal breaker that it didn't get errata'd, because it's so easy to just decide for yourself :)

But I do understand wanting to stick to canon with published adventures, I can be the same way myself.

I appreciate the post, I am running ToA and if my players get to those stairs I will run it as Orcus intended now ;)

d20Pro added them in their Kickstarter, check the d20pro marketplace. We don't distribute them separately.

Thanks Skeeter I got a hold of them through Kickstarter and did get a hold of the WA files, still looking forward to CoF and ToA. Thanks for the reply.

I got mine through the kickstarter also. We are learning to appreciate the convenience of them being on the map. It would be a dream to have them for Slumbering Tsar, but with that monster I am sure that is not doable.

Honestly i'm having trouble with D20Pro, Roll20 is more intuitive to me but they lack all the FGG content.

My daughter is running this for her group right now--the creepiness of that Leucrotta reminds me of why I used it here.

I'm about to start running the ToA portion of this for my group. Our first foray into S&W.

Bill, any advice about running this mod?

I'm running this now and skipped the Leucrotta encounter in WA. Regretting it now. It is really creepy when you think about it.
