DM Bigrin's Shattered Star looking for 2-3 new players

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 65 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

I am looking for a few people to round out a dwindling adventuring group. We've lost a few along the way, and will be losing another when we get back to Heidmarch Manor, so now is a good time to insert replacements. We are about halfway through the first module, and have beaten the first "boss".

Here is a link to the original recruitment thread, but sorry, I don't have time to do random character creation at this time.

We have an Inquisitor and a Rogue that will be continuing with us. What do you want to bring?

I'll leave the recruitment open for a few days until I can get enough submissions to make a decent party. I'll give a 24-hour notice when I decide to close submissions.

Edit: Please submit a level 2 character.

If you want to catch up on where we are, here is the link to the Gameplay thread.

Same character creation rules, or have you leveledup since you started?

Actually, by the time they get back and get their story XP, they will be level 2. So, make a level 2 character, please.

I randomly rolled for my self, it wasn't half bad. Tiefling (hell spawn) druid (pack lord)

I would very much like to submit Talius Baryn, Hedgemage and Wizard extraordinaire!

(Note: Still have not participated in a PbP-campaign, but I am very much willing to learn and improve in any way as I can. I have all the books and documents required to play).

Name: Tao 'Cloudy' Cloudsson
Race: Halfling
Class: Monk (Ki Mystic, Sensei)
Alignment: LG
Background: Tao is a halfling born into an ancient line of sages- halfling wisemen and wisewomen who would secrete themselves at all corners of the world and meditate upon the ancient wisdoms and knowledges, sharing their thoughts and conclusions with the birds and all seeks who climbed or descended or swam into their retreats.

Tao- or 'Cloudy' as he prefers to be called- is quite eagerly awaiting the time when he will be called forth and given the nae of Sage, and the right to create his own retreat and place of prayer and meditation. In the meantime- he must gather wisdom. Tao is currently travelling the world to gather as many local sayings and beliefs and little bits of wisdom he can find, that one day his dream might come true. Working for the Pathfinder Society is, to him, a perfect opportunity to advance his own aims; seeking strange and unusual knowledge and relics in strange and unusual places? Positively delightful.

Appearance and Personality: Cloudy is a cheerful fellow, though he does try to practice his solemn sage-like face. He eagerly engages with the world and with people, and enjoys everything about thinking creatures. He is bald with a rapidly growing white beard which currently snakes down his chin to about halfway down his chest.

How do you feel about the fiendish heritage feat?
edit: I want to use option 44 to be small, or option 90 to get an additional wisdom bonus.

Dotting. I'll see if I can put together something (initial thoughts are for a bard) before I disappear from the internet for a few days (cottage trip Fri-Sun).

@billybrainpan - I have no problems with them in theory. Just keep in mind the character creation guidelines and have a VERY good RP plan for anything too fiendish.

Hi DM Bigrin, this is Kua. He was part of a party that got about halfway through Natalya's hideout before the game died off. He also fought his way through the God's Mouth Ossuary before his trip to Magnimar, so he's got some extra equipment. I'd be happy to pare all of it down though, if you wanted to consider him for your game. I believe the rest of his sheet should be in order for you creation rules though.

I was interested in creating a Halfling Master Summoner, but I wanted to know what your feelings on such things are. I know some DM's won't want to deal with a host of summoned creatures so I want to get the go ahead first.

Interested. Not sure what I'd like to play since you already have a Rogue and a Inquisitor I'd be inclined to try a frontliner.

I wouldn't mind adapting this character to fit the party. He's a poor orphan from past campaigns who I really loved the concept of... and it sounds like you can use a melee-er.

He was built on 20 points, AIRC, so it would be just a need to modify his stats and backstory (somewhat).

dotting for interest.

Doomed Hero here submitting Judah Locke, Oracle of the Dark Tapestry for consideration.

He's an Oracle who doesn't want to be. He accidentally unlocked something that connected him to the terrible powers that dwell in the spaces between stars. His new, strange powers come from them, but he does not serve them. He isn't even sure if they are aware of his existence or if they would even care if they knew he was using their power. All he knows is that he wants to keep the visions in his head from coming true.

The character was originally submitted to another Shattered Star game, hence the much longer background and level 1 build. I'll have him set to level two as soon as I can.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments about the character.

Does this AP have spoilers for someone playing in Rise of the Runelords?

Here is Sir Manfred.
A noble son disowned by his family and on the run from a rival family, he falls in with the respected explorers to get out of Magnimar for a while.

I will have to withdraw my partially submitted Druid. Sorry. :(

Hey GM Bigrin how much starting gold do we get?

@Kua - Looks good. If you want to, go ahead and pare down equipment to level 2 starting gold.

@Artorius - I don't have a problem with it, per se. It will just slow down combat updates. Also, if you do that, I will want you to have the stats (including augmentations) in a spoiler for every creature you summon, and will want you to make all their rolls when your character acts. It can be done, it will just take a bit of bookkeeping on both our parts.

@Gathien - Looks good so far.

@Judah - Looks good so far. I really like the backstory.

@Bill - No. It takes place post-Runelords, but doesn't really reference it in any way, other than in passing.

@Sir Manfred - Looks good so far.

@Alex - Standard wealth for level 2, 1000gp.

I will probably close submissions this time tomorrow and make my decision by Saturday night. Plan on starting by Monday.

Was wondering if my character is being evaluated, or if it doesnt fit in at all.

Ok, I've modified the history and chosen two appropriate traits. Will fix the gear this evening to make the submission deadline.

However, if you've any questions or concerns, please let me know.

OK. I've put together something quick. The background is a little bare bones, but there are a few aspects of the character that are not tied down yet.

Right now he's a Bard 1 / Oracle (Lore) 1, with plans to continue in Bard.

He can be found here: Lukain Korvaski

Question: Does the Nontraditional Native (Varisian) campaign trait (that allows a +1 to damage in surprise rounds with scarf or starknife) actually give proficiency with those weapons?

Interested in the extreme. I won't get to play or GM this path for a long time in real life!

I will post something up around lunch time PST (or GMT-8).

***EDIT***

Your randomization rules have me interested. Here are my choices!

Assault: Bard, Magus
Skilled: Ranger, Rogue
Divine: Cleric, Druid
Arcane: Alchemist, Witch
Races: Dwarf, Half-Orc, Gnome, Halfling

Dark Archive

I'm thinking something along the lines of a Human Wizard (Diviner), will get something up later tonight.

Looks like my randomisation method is spreading

Hah! Is that yours DMAZ?? I might steal that when I post up a thread for the Wrath of Righteous (when I get my grubby mitts on it).

I actually started some games (Broadened Horizons) that require players to randomise there character and I did the method in some recruitment threads for my PCs and it looks like DM Bigrin enjoyed his system generated character.

Alrighty, Kua's equipment has been changed up to represent 2nd level starting wealth and I've added a final paragraph to his background to represent his new circumstances. I took a few liberties there, so let me know if there are any problems and I can change it.

Edit: Just want to let you know that I am going out of town on Sunday-Wednesday. The place I'm staying is supposed to have wi-fi, so it shouldn't be a big deal, but I wanted to warn you just in case.

@Talius - Sorry I missed you in the last post. Looks good so far, but it could use more backstory. Remember, the better the story, the better I can personalize for you.

@Dark Network - Lukain is a little bare on the backstory department.

@Pendin - See original post. I don't have the time to do randomizations now, but if you want to randomize yourself, feel free.

@DMAZ - I used your randomization in the original recruitment and got some amazingly diverse parties. I'll continue to use it from now on.

Dark Archive

Scratch that, I've been aching to play a Magus so I'm going to develop one. give me some time to read the background material and I'll have one up later tonight.
@DM Bigrin- How do you feel about the (xxx) of the Society traits in place of the regular Campaign traits?

Glad you enjoy the results of the system, DM Bigrin.
And I don't mind the randomisation method spreading, but acknowledgement of it's creator would be nice.

And you made two groups based on the system, nice.

1:Assault: 1:Bard, 2:Magus
2:Skilled: 1:Ranger, 2:Rogue
3:Divine: 1:Cleric, 2:Druid
4:Arcane: 1:Alchemist, 2:Witch

Choosing type and class: 1d4 ⇒ 1 1d2 ⇒ 1

Races: 1:Dwarf, 2:Half-Orc, 3:Gnome, 4:Halfling

Choosing Race: 1d4 ⇒ 4

An Assault focused Halfling Bard. Could be LOTS of fun :)

It's done as so

Ass/Skill c: 4d100 ⇒ (89, 64, 47, 71) = 271 Bard*, Magus, Ranger, Rogue
Div/Arc c: 4d100 ⇒ (52, 88, 47, 54) = 241 Cleric, Druid*, Alchemist, :Alchemist
Final: c: 2d100 ⇒ (20, 98) = 118 Druid or Bard*
Selected: Bard

Race1: r: 2d100 ⇒ (2, 24) = 26 Dwarf, Half-Orc*
Race2: r: 2d100 ⇒ (2, 62) = 64 Gnome Halfling*
Race: Final r: 2d100 ⇒ (91, 92) = 183 Half-Orc, Halfling*

Result:
Bard Halfling Oddly same result
please select 4 archetypes/(Bloodlines is=f sorcerer) for each class.

Edit: fixed some wording

HAH! Thanks DM Azure_Zero...and that is...very odd...that we got the same.

Bard: Savage Skald, Sandman, Sound Striker, Daredevil
Druid: Menhir Savant, Mooncaller, Mountain Druid, Cave Druid

Thanks for the quick guide on how to do this!!

I'm guessing then that archetypes are like this:

Archetype 4d100 ⇒ (24, 86, 97, 84) = 291 Savage Skald, Sandman, Sound Striker*, Daredevil

Result: Halfling Bard (Sound Striker)

Archetype: a: 4d100 ⇒ (94, 27, 45, 96) = 262 Savage Skald, Sandman, Sound Striker, *Daredevil

Gender: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11

End Result:
A male Bard Halfling(DareDevil)

How do you get the a: in green?

[?dice=Text]4d100[/dice]
Remove the ?

Result
Text: 4d100 ⇒ (39, 44, 6, 37) = 126

OHHHHHH!!!

Thanks DMAZ!

OK So a male Halfling Bard DareDevil it is: brought to you by DM Azure Zero's character randomization method!

The Gender determination in the system is like in nature, with XX and XY chromosome pairing with Odd and Even representing the matching of the chromosomes.

My profuse apologies. I could have sworn I referenced you as the originator, but I see that in the original post I did not. A thousand internet credits to you in apologies.

@marik - I'd reserve those for the non-campaign trait, but if you really want one, talk to me about it in PM.

No Problem, I also have forgotten to post certain notes in some of my Opening post in my recruitment threads.

DM Bigrin wrote:

Yeah, I just wanted to have something up before I went to a lengthy meeting. Sort of a placeholder to remind me where I wanted to go with it. I've updated the backstory now: Lukain Korvaski

Thank you for the reply Bigrin, I will be sure to post some introduction dialog as well as work a bit on his backstory when I get home.

Pendin Fust posting as Bartlebus Greatfeat, the Daredevil (or at least tricks the crowd into thinking he is).

Profile has story and character sheet.

Ok, Gath should be totally updated. Sadly, he was a 25 pointer originally. Still, I think this works.

Minor update to my char sheet, had to remove my versatile performance because of the archetype.

Turan Walks the Steppe is a Shoanti tribesmen who one day decided he wished to walk east. He walked all the way to Embral Ocean which he then crossed by ship. In the east he studied the ways of the warrior and after having learned his lesson he decided to return to Varisia to teach his tribe what he had learned. Two decades later he has returned but his tribe dismissed him as outlandish and mad. To still his longing for discovery he has joined the Pathfinder Chapter in Magnimar recently and seeks to serve the society to the best of his abilities while venturing whereever his missions might take him.

I'll be updating the crunch and fluff within the next few hours.
