If you set off a trap do you get an automatic reflex save if so how do you work out what you need to roll.

If the trap allows for a Reflex save then yes: you get one the moment you trigger the trap.

You just roll, and then your GM compares your result with the (fixed) DC of that trap.

well 2 traps in question and they did not happen to my char but someone Else just want to make sure we are doing trap right. 1st trap was scythe trap on a door and second one was a trap on a chest which cut of the person fingers.
Would have thought even thought they were not spotted but set off the person should have had a reflex save especially as was the rogue.
I know first trap had a DC of 25 and attack of +15, what would the relex save roll be.

think I have just figured out what you roll as made sense when I read VRMH post.

only thing is look at first trap description it does not say you can have a reflex save but I would think you would.

Weapon traps work a little different. They get to make an attack just like a character would when they are set off. DM rolls the weapon trap die and compares to AC of the person who set it off. If it hits, it does its damage, just like a player would. Most only go off once though.

"Traps that attack with arrows, sweeping blades, and other types of weaponry make normal attack rolls, with specific attack bonuses dictated by the trap's design."

So, for example, your scythe door trap probably had a DC 25 perception check to notice it was there. If it was triggered, the DM gets to roll a d20 and add 15 to the result, to compare against the AC of the character(s) in the area affected by the trap. If they are hit, then he gets to roll damage to them.

thanks that helps
