No, I'm not very familiar with One Piece. I never got into it as a kid when it came out and as an adult, muddling through the first few story arcs is a trial. I've got a friend who's been watching the dubbed anime (I watched dub, if given the choice, I don't care for the dub/sub arguments) and he's nearly at the end of the dubbed episodes and tells me the story arcs get much better.

I'm currently going back and watching all the anime that piqued my interest as a kid, but never got to watch for one reason another. Currently splitting my time between Naruto and Bleach and, Cosmo's machinations no doubt, I recently found out these are the two worst animes in respect to the ratio of filler/non-filler episodes.

Suffering through the 43%/45% filler episodes for Naruto and Bleach respectively... makes me wish I had toughed out through the shenanigans and craziness of One Piece, what with it's low 18% filler content. Most impressive for having over 700 episodes out.

There's actually a website dedicated to tracking the amount of filler anime has: link.

I misremembered my percentage for One Piece, it actually only has a 13% filler content. I don't understand the comment about 4Kids, care to elaborate?

Oh 4Kids, let me count the ways to Blame Cosmo for them.

First off, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids.

Second, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids getting their hands on anime.

Third, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids Americanizing everything they got ahold of since Americans are apparently too stupid to realize other cultures exist and could be learnt about.

Fourth, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids.

Fifth, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids censoring even the slightest of things in the shows they got ahold of since it was anime, therefore cartoons, and therefore just for little kids.

Sixth, I Blame Cosmo for even more of their unneeded edits causing major plot holes and completely rewriting characters... for absolutely no reason.

Seventh, I Blame Cosmo for them completely cutting out entire arcs of OP (not just filler) just so they could introduce Chopper sooner.

Eighth, I Blame Cosmo for the 4Kids execs ACTUALLY believing that by doing all this editing it would actually be cheaper then to, ya'know, just leave the shows alone and just dub them.

Ninth, I Blame Cosmo that, yes, the people in charge of 4Kids were actually that stupid.

Tenth, I Blame Cosmo for 4Kids.

When they have some onigiri and decide to be racist dipshits and call them doughnuts along with Americanizing and committing culture erasure on everything else and then present that to a child and that child grows up with misconstrued perceptions of food and like, among other things.

Yes. That pisses me right the f$!+ off.

Food has a big hand in cultural identity (unless you are American, we sort of co-opt other nations food for ourselves, usually by making it blander and more salty, grarr!)

When folk say "the taste of home" that taste is very different depending on where you come from, also, as someone who is a moderate foodie sort, it is seriously not ok to call rice balls doughnuts, those are vastly different edible creatures.

Food, it is much more than just fuel to keep you going, it says something about who you are and where you come from. Our food traditions are a link to our ancestors and the past, which connects us back through the ages to those people and places.

(I like to think this anyway, when eating blood sausage and other traditionally English stuff, same with Polish, as those are the flavors of my heritage. Thankfully my heritage is full of delicious sausages made from tasty tasty pigs!)

Since salt is sometimes used to bring out the flavor of something, wouldn't making something blander AND more salty be kind of a lateral move? :P

I blame Cosmo for those Americans who must exacerbate their high blood pressure just to make their food taste.

Actually, blood sausage is one reason I'm glad my ancestors escaped British cuisine...

I blame Cosmo for nasty British food (especially blood sausage, and with the possible exception of fish and chips).

I blame Cosmo for giant invisible spiders.

I just was reading The Best of Edmund Hamilton, and he had a story with a giant invisible spider. Before that, I was reading Bridge of Birds, by Barry Hughart, and *he* had a giant invisible spider.

And now I'm pretty sure I remember reading something by Edgar Rice Burroughs with a giant invisible spider. And something else by Fritz Lieber with a giant invisible spider. And, I may be hallucinating madly, but I think even Lovecraft had a giant invisible spider, in some bizarre attempt at sci-fi set on the planet Venus.

Cosmo! I'm sick and tired of these motherluvin' giant invisible spiders in these motherlovin' pulp sci-fi/fantasy books!

I was trying to calm orange tabby kitteh down with soothing words and much petting when a huge barrage of fireworks freaked her out. She ran and bonked hard into the shut/latched cat door, then careened off and into an open cabinet. I started to go get her and stubbed two toes very hard on a chair leg. It was only 12:03AM. Getting an early start, eh Cosmo?

Cosmo, it's 6:30 AM here in Alaska. I've been awake since 8:30 AM in order to get things ready for Second Christmas (when your father works on an oil platform and misses Christmas). Then, my friends kept me up all night. Plus, I found out I could watch the Star Wars Holiday Special online and that also kept me from sleeping.

So, I blame Cosmo for Second Christmas.

You are the first person, out of all the hundreds of billions of people who have lived through out the thousands of years of our existence to have done/thought/felt that.
