(Almost) Freshly Started Way of the Wicked Seeking Replacement

Recruitment

Come hither all you villains lurking in the shadows!

I've been GMing a Way of the Wicked campaign in which our wizard mysteriously dissappeared before the second encounter even! Our current roster consists of a ranger, rogue, and cleric; all at level one. This campaign is a bit different from your average WotW in that it features Urgathoa as the primary evil deity instead of Asmodeus.

Anyways, check out the old recruitment thread for character creation guidelines if you are at all interested.

P.S. If you were one of the original applicants, feel free to resubmit you're old character (or come up with a new one!).

Ill join will you allow a gunslinger into your game? I'll just reset my character to his original self level 1 gunslinger and advance as I did before.

Strength = 17

Intelligence = 14
Wisdom = 12
Charisma = 16
these are the stats I legit rolled irl

Harson you need to pick a focus and a foible (one score to receive an 18 and one to get an 8, respectively). Also in the interest of keeping things fair for the othe players, I'm going to have to ask you to to roll your stats on the forum.

I have been wanting to play in this campaign for quite some time. I have an idea for a unique wizard with the Undead subschool. Below is the stats for this character and I will get a profile posted once it is completed

Focus = Intelligence
Foible = Wisdom
Strength: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Dexterity: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Constitution: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Charisma: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

I am interested in playing a earth elemental sorceror

Focus = Charisma
Foible = Wisdom
Strength 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Dexterity 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Constitution 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Intelligence 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

I can live with those numbers

str1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
dex1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
con1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
int 20 focus (18+2)
wis 8 foible
cha1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

stats:
I present Hezun, the student, wizard (Enchanter) lvl 1, LE
spells cantrips mage hand, message, ghost sound and presdigination, lvl 1 spells disguise self, 2 memory lapse and charm person.
traits Fraud and Subtle deceiver (reflavored peace maker trait)
skillpoints per lvl 9 knowledge nature, knowledge the planes, knowledge religion, knowledge arcana, knowledge local, knowledge nobility, bluff, diplomancy and spellcraft.
feats spell focus necromancery and spell focus enchantment

story:
There is power in control, there is wisdom in harnessing the strength of your enemies. These are the words that started Hezun off on his career of becoming an enchanter. For these words are true the weak are meant to be bow before the strong and serve. Others naturally do not accept this reality, Huzun does.

He learned enchantment and necromancery viewing the two schools as mutually complementing one another. Enchantment to enslave the living and Necromancery to enslave the dead. He needed money and began conning a local noble via the spells memory lapse and charm person, sadly the noble after a year of blackmail realized what was happening. He sent Huzun off to Brandenscar prison using his connections in the Mitra temples.

Now Huzun must get out before they send him to the salt mines, unfortunetely for his captors who believed the Inquisitors had raped his mind of spells and sanity this is not the case...(gm my own escape you will need to orchestrate but don't worry I can be very social if need be).

Im going for Widow queen prestige class the idea of having my own cult is very appealing!

is this what your looking for gm?

well I might as well try again here is cyx

was in the original recuitment thread

Good luck Cyx and here for my rolls...

Strength 8

Dot.

In the other thread it said all classes allowed. I am guessing this is all paizo stuff? I ask as I would like to try out a psionic in the campaign.

Psionics, are unfortunately off limits, them being non Paizo.

However, don't let that stop you from thinking up a concept, if my current players think a psionic character would be a cool addition to the party, I might just allow it.

Main reason I asked really is because I want to make a thrown weapon user and that is so difficult to make effectively with just paizo stuff. I'll get the character concept for him as suggested though.

I ain't sure how long you want a backstory but most of what is needed is here under the ramblings in the character's head when he performed the crime he was jailed for. Do you want me to make the character sheet (which will be a marksmen[psionic]) on the off chance I'm chosen?

My last night on Hermea:

So my hands are finally dirty, she finally got what she deserved. Like all the rest, always judging me behind that sly smile. Everyone of these people deserves damnation, curse this blasted city, curse that revered pompous dragon. What is he worth anyway? What has he done except created a group of people that think they are better than the rest? All because of those damn invitations. They planned my birth, even my name they made sound cute. Albion White, pretty isn’t it? That didn’t stop their stares at me, I come out of my mother’s womb ugly as sin. Not even my mother could look at me and smile at first.

Though these people, I know full well, everyone on this island pretends to be welcoming, oh they pretend. I grew up here on this ‘perfect’ island away from all the dangers of the rest of the ‘humans’. The great dragon calls this place Promise, a promise for a better life. What the hell did that get me?! I try my best, I do what I’m good at, hunting… they never thanked for that ever. I bet they gave me that job just so they have to look upon me less.

Everyone in this country is pretty. Everyone except me, was that my fault? It was their fault that they treated me the way they did. They might accept my work with ‘thanks’, they might let me dine with them and smile at my face. It was all lies, I can see it in their face. I can see it in their minds! I could hear the inkling of their voices in my own head no less! ‘Ugly child’ ‘He will be kicked off the island’ ‘We deserve better’. I heard it all, maybe the dragon bestowed that ‘gift’ upon me as a sick joke. Well he won’t be laughing for long, now his precious island is corrupted just like the mainland.

This room is stained red with the blood of an ‘innocent’. Oh this girl how I would have loved her, I tried to shut my mind away. I tried not to hear what her words would say but she was like all the rest. This red on my hands, oh it’s wonderful, wonderful. This room might make that damn dragon revile me but this colour, this is a blessing to me. This red I shall never forget, that look in her eyes when I took my knife and shoved it into her heart shall be burned forever in my mind. Sweet bliss, her heart poured over me, every last drop. Her love is drenched all over me, this is the only love she could have showed me, her dying breaths. It was so exciting, maybe one day I will love another like I have loved this one. Then, then I shall feel a new red, a new heart… what’s that sound? The guards, they heard her screams. They didn’t appreciate it like I did, they are here to take me away. The dragon won’t keep me here, I will be thrown out like he always wanted. Promise, huh? Well promise me this dragon if you can hear me, may I never see this accursed place again!

Of course my patron owns the rights to land sir. You think I would sell you land I did not actually own. Urdan takes a step back from the older merchant he has been talking to. The land has been in his family for three generations but he is more of a scholar rather than a landowner, so he has hired me to sell the land to continue his research. He sees one of the merchant's bodyguards passing him a document and realizes that the game is up. Somehow the merchant discovered that he did not own the land and despite his athletic appearance Urdan Stoneblood prefered not to fight, his clothes were to fine for such things. Is that the merchant's son with those city watch? This has really gone sideways. Now the question is how do I get out of this situation? Ah, I think some ghost sounds in that alley by the watchmen should do the trick. Urdan mumbles something under his breath and makes a small gesture, then begins running in the opposite direction from the city watch as strange sounds come from the alley.

Okay, so hopefully this is allowed both crunch and fluff-wise.

I'll do a full stat block and alias if picked (or asked to do so as a determining factor).

Bear with me:

Davoren Aurek:
Davoren Aurek, LE male human Summoner (Master Summoner) 1
Traits (2): Consorting with the Dark Powers, Ease of Faith
Feats (2): Spell Focus (Necromancy), Skeleton Summoner
Skills (2 class, 2 bonus, 1 favored class, 1 racial): Diplomacy +10, Knowledge (Planes) +5, Knowledge (Religion) +5, Spellcraft +4, Use Magic Device +9, Perception +1

Backstory:
Davoren was a normal enough young man, once. Born to modest means and apprenticed to a scribe, he was studious, polite, quiet, and always watching people with his large, pale eyes from behind his mop of dark hair. He would frequently take notes about or sketch people he encountered, and by his dress and the ink stains on his fingers, most would casually dismiss his peculiar tendencies as a scribe's work. But Davoren would instead be jotting down personality traits, notes about health, physical features, bone structure, and predicted life expectancy. Those who realized what he was doing gave Davoren a wide berth -- all except Dahlia, the girl with whom he was irrevocably infatuated at first glance. Though her looks were average at best, Davoren somehow decided she was a paragon of physical perfection and that he would do anything to make her his. After an awkward but determined courtship, he did just that -- up until her mysterious and inexplicable death overnight some few weeks after their marriage.

Grief-stricken, he prayed to every god he knew for help, but none would answer his prayers. Finally, the last desperate plea of a broken man, Davoren turned to the Pallid Princess and prayed for his Dahlia to be returned to him. Whether the power to do so was always within him or whether Mistress Urgathoa planted it there is anyone's guess, but his power began to manifest itself by calling forth creatures from the other side who followed his every command. What this eventually led to was well-documented in Talirean history, as it earned Davoren the crime of Consorting with Dark Powers:

His Dahlia manifested before him in a crowded street, nude, pale, raven-haired, and hauntingly beautiful... from the waist up. From the waist down, she was all bloody bones smearing a trail of gore in her wake where she shambled to follow him. She screeched and clawed at the men who rushed Davoren to take him away, and though she tried to stop them, there were too many. Though he is shackled in a filthy prison, branded with the scar of a doomed man, Davoren is grinning like an idiot, beaming pure joy. By the grace of the Lady, his love is with him once more.

Any wants for the character class does it need to be arcane? What is the rest of the party?

Here's my submission. Build is up, have the background soon.

Dark Archive

Also are you going to adjust skill req fir the prestige class on the wiki. As pathfinder lags three ranks behind due to how the system was chanaged... if you are I think I will whip up a necromancer

Would you accept someone who is already playing in a WoTW pbp game?

Though much of the crunch still needs to be updated, the background, Personality and Description for my concept is provided below and can also be found in the profile.

Lukasz Piden
Human Wizard (Necromancer school, Undead Sub school)
Lawful Evil
Traits: Desecration, Convincing Liar

Background

Spoiler:
Born the youngest son to a minor noble family, Lukasz was raised under the stern eye of his father and mother and the shadow of his older brother. However, his family treated him with love and he grew up respecting his father. As the youngest of the family, Lukasz was sent to the Mages Academy in Talingrade to learn the ways of wizardry while his older brother apprenticed under their father.

After many years of study, Lukasz prepared for his exams to become an invoker feeling that his study frame, intelligence and strength would make him a strong candidate for the Talingrade Wizards Corp. However, the sudden death of his father would cause the young man to start down a completely different path. Hearing the news of his father's death, Lukasz entered the wizard's exam with scattered thought and a heavy heart. His devastated state of mind caused him to fail the exam, thus dooming Lukasz to another three years of preparation before he could next test. Uncertain of what he could do to get back on to the right path, Lukasz grew more distant from his family, his father having been the one person that the young man went to for advice and guidance. Now lacking that pillar of guidance, Lukasz keen intellect but dull wit started to get the lad in trouble. In the years that followed, his father's death continued to haunt him, so much so that he spent his days scouring the library for studies on necromancy. As his research continued to lead to dead ends, the young wizard went to greater extremes to find the means to contact his father's spirit.

One night, in the Academy library he came across a particular ceremony that promised contact with the dead but required ingredients of a dark nature in it execution. In the process of gathering such ingredients, Lukasz was found out by one of his class mates and, not wanting to be found out, lashed out at the poor wizard, dumbfounding him and preventing him form speaking on what he saw. His superiors, master wizards all of them, used their magics to find out what happened and cast Lukasz out from the Academy. Lukasz was determined to contact his father however and, after returning to his family and establishing himself as an herbalist, he continued to perform his research in secret, occasionally using the knowledge he learned at the Mage's Academy to secret away customers he believed wouldn't be missed for use in his research.

Desperate to once more speak with his father and seek the man's advice, Lukasz's research began to turn to experiments where we was able to successfully control minor undead creations. However, unsatisfied with his progress, Lukasz turned to supplications to a variety of gods that held sway over the dead. When none answered his call, he decided that he needed to revoke the Lady of Mitra to gain the notice of other godly beings. Therefore, he formulated a plan of flagrant desecration. One night after all other worshipers had left the church, he entered under the pretense of individual prayer where he approached the main alter and, intoning a desire to see his father once more, summoned an array of magical incantations to blast the alter with arcane energy. Though the well constructed and blessed alter only received very minor damage, the wall behind it was blasted and pockmarked with the holy scripture that rested on the podium charred and burned. Before the man was able to make his escape however, he was spotted by a priest and a chase ensued which resulted in his capture and sentencing to Blackscar Prison.

Personality

Spoiler:
Lukasz possesses a calm exterior that hides his true thoughts and emotions. Though not currently an admitted worshiper of Urgathoa, his interest in the undead and the disease that took his father's life is leading him down the path to understanding the goddess' message. While his life following his father's death has lead him down a less than righteous path, his father instilled in Lukasz strict morals that include holding closely to the truth but only with those who deserve respect. Furthermore, while Lukasz lacks wisdom in the actions he takes, each move is calculated to make the most efficient use of resources.

Description

Spoiler:
Lukasz's solid frame is decked out in normal traveling clothes consisting of a blue shirt and dark brown pants. As his hip can be seen the sheathe and pommel of a dagger. On his other hip rests a few small pouches and a case of bolts can be seen hanging close-by. Hanging from a bandoleer is a new looking crossbow. Around his shoulders is a durable, red cloak and his feet are covered with a pair of black boots. While not garbed in the traditional dress of a necromancer, Lukasz's coldly intelligent eyes gives away the man's familiarity, if not experience with death. His well tended skin and fair complexion as well as the quality of his clothing suggests that he is a man of minor nobility or comes from a affluent merchant family.

As one of the three remaining PCs in this PbP, I thought I'd share that the current party makeup is Ranger, Rogue, Cleric. We have a preference for an arcanist. The final decision, of course, belongs entirely to the Gluttonous One himself.

unfortunately the wizard character I would love to play in this game requires stuff from 3.5

Posting to let you know that the profile for Lukasz is complete including the three questions incorporated into his character background and personality as well as the Prestige class that he would most likely take.

This looks like too much fun to pass up, and a great opportunity to try out the witch class. :D Character will be up within 24 hrs.

EDIT: The image is the character wearing an oni spirit mask... though he won't be able to have one as a familiar until level 7, once he's able to equip himself he'll be wearing a similar (non-animate) mask.

EDIT 2 (last one I promise): Since I'm going for an exotic feel (asian style witch, no module support needed since I'm a spellcaster, though I might take craft wonderous and reskin some items), would you allow the Words of Power (UM 162) for my witch?

Is this recruitment still open? Haven't seen any action from the GM since before the weekend.

I'd love to play a Necromancer / Master of the Seven Necromantic Mysteries..

Edit: May as well roll..

EDIT: Character background is up, stats coming soon

So not quite 24 hours... I kinda waiting on that info about word magic.
