Meh, you are doing great Thod. Just keep doing what you are doing. We are all grateful to have a game, let alone have one with a great DM who actually builds and photographs the venues we are fighting in.

Liberty's Edge

Ditto...the games you have run for us have been fantastic.

I think I'm contemplating to combine this with Google Docs. The photographs are great for atmosphere - but they don't work well in updating combat positions. Too many steps involved.

Ideally this is done ahead of the game. Build up, photograph, add a scale - and have them ready when needed. But yes - I'm also still learning what works and what is just a good idea but fails flat in the day to day posting when I have to disassemble to make space for breakfast, seem to misplace my camera, need a dedicated computer to download/process pictures while I prefer the postings from my iPad.

Yeah, it is less practical, but it has a real cool factor. I know every time I have checked on the PBP and I have had a friend around I had to show them some of the awesome setups you had created for the session.

The Exchange

HP 4/22 Init +2 Melee +4 AC: 20 Touch: 12 FF: 18 Fort: +6 Ref: +2 Will: +1 CMB +4 CMD +16 CMD(Trip) +23 CMD(Bullrush) +22 CMD(Overrun) +17 Dwarf Fighter Phalanx Soldier Archetype / 2

Yep, can't tell ya how many people I've talked about my awesome PbP DM.

The Exchange

HP 4/22 Init +2 Melee +4 AC: 20 Touch: 12 FF: 18 Fort: +6 Ref: +2 Will: +1 CMB +4 CMD +16 CMD(Trip) +23 CMD(Bullrush) +22 CMD(Overrun) +17 Dwarf Fighter Phalanx Soldier Archetype / 2

For future traps, the Stonecunning racial trait gives a +2 to notice unusual stonework, and it gives me a check for traps whether or not I am actively looking for them when I pass within 10 ft. Shoulda known that before hand but that's my fault.

Grand Lodge

Toren - thanks for the reminder. Yes - you should have had a free check. Could have done with Dreams of Desna if you would have told earlier.

Shadow Lodge

At this point I am unclear if I was healed the initial time Priscilla attempted. Did that happen before she was pitted? Did she save from being pitted? I didn't want to assume and change my status and then have it bite me later when I think I have more HP than I do.

Grand Lodge

I don't think that healing ever happened because she fell in the pit but you can safely assume you're healed after she get back out.

The Exchange

Thod, just looked over my post on Stonecunning, I totally did not mean to sound so mean. I was saying that I should have known that not you...I completely forgot about that racial trait until I looked over Dwarves. Sorry if I seemed angry!

Grand Lodge

Toren - no worry. It was a good reminder and just shout out earlier next time. These 'special abilities' are easily missed by a GM.

All - thanks for the feedback on the build ups. I'm working on a way to make it smoother for myself in the future. I guess the best is to build it up ahead of the game (the whole dungeon) while I have a) time and b) good lighting - and then take photos to set up the atmosphere.
In addition - take an overhead shot of the build up area to use a basis for a google map.
Fingers crossed - Gregor might turn the last in the album into one. I'm sure I will learn soon to do it myself - but I spend enough time in this for the moment.
I hope you like the pictures. The hobgoblins are old style Otherworld miniatures. They are 90% finished but I haven't yet done the eyes and some brush ups. Well - have to do ...

Shadow Lodge

Char Sheet Elf Rogue (Scout) - HP: 17/17, - AC: 17/T: 14/FF: 13 - Perception: +8 (Trapspotter/Low light) - F:+1 / R: +7/ W: +1 - CMB: +2 - CMD: 16, Speed: 30

1's! my god the 1's... this rapier will be the death of me

Shadow Lodge

Do I get an opportunity attack since they both drew weapons while being threatened? I think I am remembering this rule incorrectly. It might be table specific.

Dark Archive

Primal Fire Sorceress 5 (HP 50/37) | AC 13 (16 MA) Touch 12 FF 11 | Saves F +5 R +4 W +5

Nope, only when sheathing a weapon.

Shadow Lodge

Char Sheet Elf Rogue (Scout) - HP: 17/17, - AC: 17/T: 14/FF: 13 - Perception: +8 (Trapspotter/Low light) - F:+1 / R: +7/ W: +1 - CMB: +2 - CMD: 16, Speed: 30

OK I think I was confusing this with "drawing a weapon is a move action" (with less than BAB+1)... Nevermind, carry on!

Grand Lodge

Chanix - I thought I mention about acrobatics and avoiding AoO. You get a hefty +10 if you move >half movement. The Hobgoblins still had bows in hand - so they haven't been threatening.

Actually - interesting enough you can (in this case). I was just able to reproduce it. This wasn't possible around 1 or 1 1/2 years ago. I did some extensive research into online cheating on these boards at that time.

Seems they altered the algorithm and fixed one possible way to cheat. But this resulted in my dice rolling being altered. I didn't have time this morning to check it out - as I said - luck to Chanix.

I don't want to discuss in detail here a recipe how to do it as some people will just read it - and apply it. The system is quite clever - it stores a random seed with the post to a) ensure it is random and b) to ensure it can be reproduced if you do preview, editing etc.
In the past (when I analyzed it the last time) there was only one single random seed - now they have multiple for each dice type. So my 'hit' just dropped off the list when two of my rolls got assigned to a different seed.

Shadow Lodge

Char Sheet Elf Rogue (Scout) - HP: 17/17, - AC: 17/T: 14/FF: 13 - Perception: +8 (Trapspotter/Low light) - F:+1 / R: +7/ W: +1 - CMB: +2 - CMD: 16, Speed: 30

I probably shouldn't have done this but I moved a couple people on the map. This was based on their posted move actions and not for any other reason.

I also think it affects their round actions though. Specifically Toren, whose initiative is after the warriors. If they move to flank me then his round action doesn't work like he imagined it since the warriors wouldn't be within reach of his move anymore.

The Exchange

HP 4/22 Init +2 Melee +4 AC: 20 Touch: 12 FF: 18 Fort: +6 Ref: +2 Will: +1 CMB +4 CMD +16 CMD(Trip) +23 CMD(Bullrush) +22 CMD(Overrun) +17 Dwarf Fighter Phalanx Soldier Archetype / 2

Thanks Chanix, I would have taken my remaining 5 feet diagonally (just updated the map) and would keep the actions the same.

Grand Lodge

I just realized - the 20/19 combo would have been devastating on Gregor.

This was a well timed use of a wand - even if it took away a round of action. And shame my dead hobgoblin wasn't giving me flank anymore ...

Chanix:

This is how you roll dice ;)

Shadow Lodge

I liked it better when you rolled a 4 and a 6 :D

Thod, do we know if this door (the one that was behind the hobgoblin leader) opens into the next room or into the room we are currently in?

I am starting to think Thod has loaded dice, haha.

Grand Lodge

All

Sorry for the delay. I didn't manage posting here yesterday.

Seems my dice rolling was hot. Sorry Toren - but you just were holding your shield nicely in her face. It just had to be you on whom I had to cast.

HOLY YIKES!!!! Toren's goin' down it looks like!

Does that casting provoke an AoO for me?

Thanks just saw the defensive. Also, Thod, does the spell allow for SR? I have Magic Resistant as a racial trait, and have SR 6.

Damn the dice hate Toren today when this hag rolls!!!

If it helps - on a different thread I just rolled a 2 with my character trying to do his mission.

It is the GM bonus - didn't you know that :)

HAH! Thanks it does make me feel slightly better...I can't complain too much with my save roll.

P.S. Just realized a couple days ago you are in another scenario I'm in :)

DONE ALREADY!?

Wow. That was a quick one. I go to Canada for a long weekend and the scenario is over upon return.

Grand Lodge

Gregor

A quick note:

Non-lethal damage is healed twice as fast. So one charge should have been enough to heal up Toren to 95% (4 HP instead of 2). You can carry over the second charge for the morning.

I will also not count hours of sleep for Priscilla - she will have full spell casting back next morning.

There is a lot of discussion in regard to haunts. In my view - this one is mathematically broken. Still - I would like to play it out - but not drain all resources in the process.

Okay - I don't want to give too much away - as otherwise I could just stop here and now. But I feel we should go through it until the end.

wow - reading this can cause misinterpretation ... oh well ... Toren will find out soon enough ...

HAHAHahahahah!! I can't wait to find out!!

Grand Lodge

Okay - that should have been my last post in the game play.

Thanks for staying with Toren everyone. I'm not saying more as I deliberately put the final postings in spoilers - so that I'm not giving it away.

The Exchange

HP 4/22 Init +2 Melee +4 AC: 20 Touch: 12 FF: 18 Fort: +6 Ref: +2 Will: +1 CMB +4 CMD +16 CMD(Trip) +23 CMD(Bullrush) +22 CMD(Overrun) +17 Dwarf Fighter Phalanx Soldier Archetype / 2

THAT was fun. Thank you Thod, and thank you everyone for the fun epilogue.

That was my first experience with something like that...I think Toren might be a little more suspicious of creepy looking cells in dungeons in the future.

Grand Lodge

Toren

Good you liked it. I did the haunt (mechanically) exactly as written. Yes - in one of the posts are 23 fortitude saves and 23 damage rolls.
I even transferred it into a spreadsheet with times of the day.
Off course I knew what roll would happen next and tried to weave the story around the rolls.
Haunts have got a pretty bad reputation in PFS. They are tough to GM and I probably wouldn't have been able to do this at a CON. But this the the beauty of PBP - you have time to tell a story.
Chronicles will go out over the weekend. This reminds me - Dayjob rolls please.

Grand Lodge

Priscilla

I'm sorry your mission somehow got 'lost' With mission notes it helps if you give the GM a reminder. I declared a room as empty when I shouldn't have - and there have been made lots of other perception checks in that room.
I did concentrate on other (at the time more urgent?) bits and the mission notes at the end got missed out. At least PBP gives me options to track back to see how it happened and what people did - including a high perception from you for which I gave 'other information'.

So actually you should have found it much earlier as it should have been in the hobgoblin dungeon.

Mentioning that you still search something looking like X also can spawn others in helping you. So if you miss a perception check - often someone else makes it instead.

So don't be afraid and speak out before the GM declares the game finished.

And now I just hope I didn't miss out anyone else.

Grand Lodge

All reported now. I only need to send out chronicles.

I will be off for holiday for nearly a week at the end of the month and don't intend to start anything before that - neither as GM nor as player.

One in the group offered to GM - that would be great if the group / part of it would be able to carry on.

Grand Lodge

Female Halfling Cleric 4/Rogue 1/Evangelist 2 HP 38/38 | AC: 27 /T: 18 /FF: 20 | Perc. +14 | F: +7 / R: +10 /W: +10 | CMB +2 | CMD +19 | Speed 40(50) | Init. +4

Sorry newbie question here. I played two scenarios with you so far Thod. Am I correct in saying Priscilla has 2 xp and needs an extra scenario to level?

Grand Lodge

Yes - one more for second level.

I might do the next scenario on early November after the half break here.

Liberty's Edge

'twas I who offered to run something to give Thod a break and maybe have him join us as a player...but since he's going on holiday he declined. However I'm still interested in running something for the group if the majority are interested. If we keep a brisk pace we might be able to finish by the time Thod is ready to run another one.
