It would be great to have you stop in and play Pathfinder with us, Chris! (Just don't forget about the time zone shift when planning)

It looks like I can play this Saturday! I'll have my level 1 fighter with me.

We will have Pathfinder Society this Thursday at Lightspeed Hobbies in Portage, IN. We will have the Tide of Twilight (Tiers 1-5) and the Sanos Abduction (Tiers 3-7).

I am pleased to see that PFS is going well in South Bend.

3/5

Here's the final schedule for April 6th:

Slot 1: The Goblinblood Dead
GM: Justin L. Warren
Tier: 1-5

Slot 2: Rise of the Goblin Guild
GM: E.L. Warren
Tier: 1-5

Backup Table: First Steps Part 1: In Service to Lore
GM: nb3d
Tier: 1

Again, if you want to reserve a spot at a certain table, contact me before Saturday if you haven't already.

Grand Lodge

i will happily play at any table that is lvl 1 if we don't have enough for the backup table.

Hi everyone,

I live just outside of South Bend and have been looking for some PFS games in the area, so imagine my surprise when, browsing the forums, I see this thread on the front page!

I haven't had time to read the whole thread, but it looks like there is some kind of steady PFS presence in the South Bend area. I don't suppose I could impose on a kindly soul to give a summary of how PFS is working in South Bend right now?

I play PFS in my university's town right now, but will be graduating, which means no more role-playing there. When I get back to South Bend, though, I'd love to start playing some PFS again.

Cheers!

Sovereign Court

Skwidd,

We play pretty consistently on a bi-weekly basis at Griffon Bookstore in downtown South Bend. Saturday's at 10:00am is the usual starting time.

When you say just outside of South Bend, to the north/south/east/or west? If west, then you're also probably not too far from Portage, where they play on Thursday nights at Lightspeed Hobbies (although I'm not sure the exact frequency, I think it's also bi-weekly or something close to that.)

If you're north of South Bend, there's also a PFS presence in Kalamazoo, MI (although I've not played there personally, I have met numerous players from there at cons, all good folks.)

Hope that's the info you were looking for!

We are playing bi-weekly at Lightspeed Hobbies in Portage, starting at 5:30 PM Central on Thursdays. Tomorrow, we will have the Sanos Abduction (4-05) for tiers 3-7, the Tide of Twilight (3-05) for tiers 1-5 and we can run First Steps if needed.

Scarab Sages 1/5

I'm north of South Bend, but its an easy enough drive out to Kalamazoo and Portage. Thanks for the info - I'll probably post again on here when I get back into town, and then hopefully join you all for some Pathfinder goodness.

It was great to come out and play with you guys!

Next time I can make it I'll GM a table.

Yeah, thanks for the game over the weekend. I'm looking forward to getting past 1st level and being slightly more useful. I know I won't be able to play in 2 weeks, but looking forward to playing again next month!

Sczarni 4/5

Hello everyone, sorry about the late posting (work has been hectic lately). Anyways, the next session should be this upcoming weekend (April 20th, 10AM), as far as I know of (haven't confirmed with the store owner, though I think he has caught onto the schedule).

Due to a series of unfortunately-timed-commitments, I have no 'free' weekends until June, and hence I cannot attend the upcoming 3 sessions (April 20th, May 4th, and May 18th) and will be unavailable for GM'ing scenarios. I am open to ideas at this point in terms of how you all would like to handle choosing/running sessions for those dates. One idea that I had would be for someone to run one of the modules (i.e. Crypt of the Everflame, Masks of the Living God, etc.), which would take ~ 2 sessions to complete. Other than that, I am open to suggestions. I can provide scenarios/modules to GM's if they are needed.

3/5

How about we do this:

Game is this Saturday April 20th at 10:00am at the Griffon in downtown South Bend.

Slot 1: The Infernal Vault
GM: Justin L. Warren
Tier: 1-7

Slot 2: Rise of the Goblin Guild
GM: E.L. Warren
Tier: 1-5

Backup Table: First Steps Part 1: In Service to Lore
GM: nb3d
Tier: 1

If there are any issues, please let me know.

Grand Lodge

i'm in for whatever.

Grand Lodge

guys - not going to be able to make it next time around. i am going to indianapolis to spend some time with my brother. i totally forgot about it. sorry! have fun storming the castle.

3/5

The next session of the South Bend PFS will be Saturday May 4th at 10:00am at the Griffon in downtown South Bend.

On deck will be the following:

Slot 1: Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible
GM: Justin Warren
Tier: 1-5

Backup Table: Rise of the Goblin Guild
GM: E.L. Warren
Tier: 1-5

First Steps Part 1 will also be available in case of a large number of new players.

If enough players with level 3+ characters RSVP, I might run a higher tier scenario instead of the one listed. If this is the case, I'll announce it here.

I'll be able to make it this Saturday. I believe the other Scott and James will be there as well.

3/5

Our next session of South Bend Pathfinder Society play will be Saturday May 18th at 10:00am at the Griffon in downtown South Bend.

Slot 1: Among the Living
GM: Justin Warren
Tier: 1-7

If anyone wishes to volunteer to prepare a scenario in case of a larger than anticipated number of players please let me know, otherwise First Steps Part 1 will be available.

Hope to see you there!

Scarab Sages 1/5

I'm back in town now, and would love to play on the 18th. Is there some sort of sign-up system, or do I just show up?

Grand Lodge

i am in for this one. need to hit lvl 3 before gen-con

Grand Lodge

ok so last time we played, i bought a breastplate. i want to keep wearing light armor so i don't lose my speed. can i change my purchase since i haven't used my character since the last game or am i stuck?

3/5

@Skwidd: Your spot in Among the Living is reserved! We're still pretty laid back, you just show up if you can make it, but you can reserve a spot if you notify me early like you just did. I do appreciate being told in advance so I can get a rough idea of the head count. It'll be good to have you join us!

@Nick: Yes, you can change the purchase if you haven't played the character since you bought it. Good to have you back too!

Also as a general update,

E.L. Warren will graciously run Rise of the Goblin Guild in case we have enough people for two tables.

Grand Lodge

thanks justin!

Scarab Sages 1/5

Skwidd here. Thanks! I'm looking forward to the game!

Looks like both Scotts will be there on Saturday too if there's room. Prepare to be underwhelmed!

3/5

With two tables, we'll have plenty of room for everyone.

Scarab Sages 1/5

Thanks to everyone for a great game today, I really enjoyed it!

Sczarni 4/5

Next session coming up will be June 1st, 10AM at the Griffon!

Here is the schedule for that weekend:

Table 1: #4-21: The Way of the Kirin (Tier 3-7)
GM: Irish202
Note: This is the Retirement Scenario for the Lantern Lodge. If you have a character who is a member of that faction and play this scenario before GenCon, I believe you get a nice boon (or something).

Back-Up Table: #4-18: The Veteran's Vault (Tier 1-5)
GM: Justin Warren

Let me know if there are any questions!

Grand Lodge

there might be an issue with the veteran's vault. i think a few of us are scheduled to play it at gencon. can we run a different low level one? i hate to be a pain but i'd also hate to get to gencon and not be able to play a scenario.

Sczarni 4/5

How about #4-21: The Night March of Kalkamedes?

Grand Lodge

sounds good!

Scarab Sages 1/5

I'm definitely on board for these games! I can play either though, so I won't sign up for a particular table - I'll just fill in a spot wherever I'm needed.

I'm not going to be able to play at the next couple of sessions, but just a word of warning, this Saturday might be a little busier than normal downtown with the Sunburst going on in the morning. I would think it'd be wrapping up by 10, but you should probably allow a little extra time to find parking and stuff.

Sczarni 4/5

For some reason, 'Way of the Kirin' has not been posted to the Paizo website. I will be checking tomorrow and Saturday periodically to see if it comes up, but in the event that it does not the replacement scenario I will be running is 'Among the Dead' (the follow-up scenario to 'Among the Living'). Let me know if this is an concern.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Just to let everyone know I am bringing my cousin who is 16 to the next gathering. He's cool just a little...odd. Poor guy is getting mercilessly bullied at school and his computer just took a huge crap, he plays WoW.

All I ask is that we be patient with him and treat him right. He is a fledgling geek so we must nurture him.

Sczarni 4/5

Got a couple options this time. Which would seem more interesting to play:

Option 1: Play a PFS-Sanctioned Module. This would entail something along the lines of Crypt of the Everflame (Levels 1-2) or Masks of the Living God (Levels 2-4). It would take ~2 sessions to fully make your way through it, but you would get 3 XP/4 PA for completing.

Option 2: Play a Scenario. If there is more interest in this, I will plan on running the "Shadow's Last Stand" scenario series in preparation for the Shadow Lodge retirement coming up in July.

Let me know what y'all think!

Grand Lodge

i'm interested in getting as much xp for only as i can before gen con. he is level 2 so either scenario works out really well for me. once only hits lvl 3, i intend to bench him and start a new character so i have a couple of options when i get to gen con. so option 1 is super enticing to me.

Scarab Sages 1/5

I would definitely vote for playing a scenario. Modules are fun, but characters in the middle of them (as ours would be for two weeks) cannot be played in any other PFS games during that time, and I at least will be playing between the sessions.

Also, playing a module this week locks out people who might want to play in two weeks' time, but not this coming Saturday, since the players from the Part 1 would have priority to play Part 2, etc.

Of course, if two tables are available this week and next, then these arguments are moot and the module would work quite well.

3/5

Based on current confirmations that I'm aware of, we're going to have enough for two tables.

That being said, I'd also rather a scenario be run primarily due to the lockout issues that Northend mentioned. If you could get enough people to confirm to the module for two sessions and still have someone available to GM a scenario for those not participating in the module, I wouldn't have an issue with it.

Another solution would be just to run a complete module from 10am to 6pm, eschewing lockout issues all together. Although due to outside obligations, I would not be able to participate in that.

In any event, I'm available to run Night March of Kalkamedes (Tier 1-5) Saturday.

Sczarni 4/5

Thanks for everyone who played today! Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced the reporting sheet for the Night March table...so if the people/GM playing at that table wouldn't mind messaging me your ID and faction that would be great! (Sorry!)

Next session coming up is Saturday June 29th, 10AM at the Griffon. Here is what the schedule is currently looking like:

Table 1: Shadow's Last Stand Part 2: Web of Corruption
Tier 1-7 (1-2, 3-4, or 6-7).
GM: Irish202

Table 2: TBD (Thinking Tide of Twilight, if people are amenable)
Tier: Looking for 1-5
GM: Open (If someone wouldn't mind GM'ing this table, that would be great. I can provide the scenario as well.)

Let me know if there are any questions!

Grand Lodge

ok so i'm playing with a build. i would play a monk (never again, casters.) and it would be a half orc. this half orc would flurry with hands and feet and bite. so basically a claw+claw+bite. what penalties would he suffer? i saw one post in a forum that was talking about two weapon fighting and one post that said the other post was nonsense since they are all natural weapons. i saw another post that said the 3 attacks would all be at the regular attack bonus. i'm super confused. help?

Grand Lodge

NEVERMIND.

Grand Lodge 1/5

I will be running table two. It will be Tide of Twilight.

Grand Lodge 1/5

I was thinking of running We Be Goblins Too! This is only a four person game. If we have more then four people (Which we will) Would anyone be willing to run the second table?

NOT IRISH202!!!!

He is very kind to run for us ALL THE TIME so I think it is time we give him a day off to play. If there is no other GM then I will run something else.

Grand Lodge

i'm playing "we be goblins too" at gen con. i would definitely want to be part of the second table.

3/5

I can run 03-19 The Icebound Outpost at the other table. It's tier 1-5. I think a couple of regulars may have played it already, but it shouldn't be a problem with two tables.

I regularly play Magic at the Griffon on Friday nights and recently purchased the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. Most of my gaming experience is with Magic and playing various miniature games. What are the rules for getting involved in the Pathfinder game(s) at the Griff? Also, how newb friendly is everyone? haha.

3/5

@Micah:

Everyone is welcome, especially newbies. We have pre-generated characters available for play if you don't have a level 1 character made yet. No experience is necessary at all.

You will need a Pathfinder Society number which you can get off of this website here.

The rules for PFS PCs can be found in the free PDF guide here: http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/playerResources

If you have any questions, feel free to post them here or come by next Saturday when we play. Hope to see you there!

General Update:

Rastaf has offered to run the other table instead of me. The scenario is not yet determined, but it will be tier 1-5 or 1-7.

The other table will be E.L. Warren running We Be Goblins Too! which is a Tier 3 scenario I believe.

Sovereign Court 4/5 ** Venture-Agent, Indiana—Valparaiso

Hey gang I lost track, is this upcoming Saturday game day?

If so I think I might be able to come out.

We Be Goblins Too! is indeed a Tier 3 Scenario but it uses Pregenerated characters so anyone can play it.

What's on deck for the other table? I'd be glad to run if you want me to but I'm always willing to play.

Unfortunately, there's very few low levels I can still play.

I'm a little pressed for time this week but would be glad to run one from my staple of scenarios I'm always willing to gm. Have you guys run
3-21 The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment or 4-07 Severing Ties out there yet? Those are two of my favorites.

My low level list I can play:
Season 1:
43 - The Pallid Plague (Tier 1-7)
Season 4:
4-15 The Cyphermage Dilemma (Ran it many times though)(Tier 1-5)
4-18 The Veteran's Vault (running it this thursday though)(Tier 1-5)
4-19 The Night March of Kalkamedes (Tier 1-5)

3/5

Our next game is this Saturday July 13th at 10:00am at the Griffon in Downtown South Bend.

On Deck:

Table 1: We Be Goblins, Too!
Tier: 3 (Pregens Used)
GM: E.L. Warren

Table 2: 03-07 Echoes of the Overwatched
Tier: 1-5
GM: Rastaf of Sarenrae

If we have enough people for three tables, it would be great if you would be willing to GM, Brian. No one has run 04-07 Severing Ties here yet, at least to my knowledge. I'm not sure of our numbers, although lately we've been running two tables. It might be doable with 3 tables of 4 players. A couple of new people have expressed interest, so the numbers could be higher.
