Alright So me and my frieds like to do themes for our parties. For this recent attempt at kingmaker we went with marvel/avengers.
So this is what we have so far
Iceman a cleric With the ice subdomain
Scarlet Witch A witch with a scarlet Spider
Hawkeye a Fighter with the Archer Archtype
Gambit A Staff master Magus witch will eventually prestige into Harrower
Now I wanted to ask first off if anyone had done something similar.
and Two I am working on a ghost rider charicter. What would you all suggest for classes and feats for a ghost rider style charicter.
Realmwalker |
Hulk: Vivisectionist alchemist/Master Chymist . Dr Banner= NG Hulk= CN.
Iron man: synthesist summoner with the suit as an eidelon.
Thor: Cleric of himself. Strength and lightning domains.
Or go Mighty Godling from SGG, With Mjolnir as a Godling Relic
Tigra Catfolk/Ranger natural weapon fighting style.
Black Panther Monk Panther Style :)
Antman/Giantman/Goliath/Yellow Jacket Alchemist
Black Knight Cavalier (w/Pegasus Mount)
Iron Fist Qigong Monk
Hercules either a Mighty Godling or Unarmed Fighter or Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist)
Beast Catfolk Monk
Name Violation |
Daelen wrote:I disagree on Iron Man. The best way to portray Iron Man is with the Construct Modification rules and creating the suit as Construct Armor. What construct modification rules are you speaking of?
Look in ultimate magic
also there was a very similar thread not long ago. Called "LEts make the Hulk", look there for more suggestions
Green Goblin- Alchemist
Venom- Synthesist
Hawkeye- Trapper Ranger

Depends.
Can you use an undead template?
If not
human (or Half elf using the ancestral arm racial trait) to pick up whip or scorpion whip or maybe the dwarven chain weapon (spiked chain works too, but it just sucks since PF nerfed its reach ability)
Inquisitor, cavalier or pally (depending on the level of casting you want to do) for the class. Theoretically a Sohei Monk could pull it off to.
if cav I'd actually look at gerdime and beast rider archetypes
if pally, Oath Bound (Oath Of Vengence) is a must...

I've tried Thor and Paizo's Domains really just don't cover it. Weather is almost there, but needs some lighning powers (as does Air). Probably needs either a Favored Soul or new Domain/SubDomain that will allow a mix of flight, weather/rain related powers, and electricity damage.
Iron Man could be a tacticle based unarmed/ranged Fighter (Barbarian?) with Intelligent armor.

Hmmm I accidentally posted in that Captain Andoran thread.
I think Hawkeye is an Arcane Archer build that concentrates on imbuing arrows with low level spells.
Stinking Cloud, Grease, stuff like that.
Synthesist Summoner is tailor made for doing Iron Man.
Alchemist/Master Chemist for Hulk.
Seems like it would be pretty easy to do Hank Pym with an alteration focused wizard and a little multiclassing.
Wasp maybe a fey Sorceress. One of the options gives you fairy wings. Pretty easy to duplicate the blast with spells.
Scarlet Witch is pretty obvious.
Maybe an undead oracle for Vision? Eventually you'll be able to go intangible. Kind of a weak fit though. Maybe another good fit for Synthesist.
Some kind of monk/caster for Quicksilver so he can cast haste.
Thor is kinda out there. Maybe AM Barbarian with a Hammer of Thunderbolts.
I read that Captain Andoran thread. Fighter/Paladin or maybe even oracle might be a better approach.
Jarvis is an Expert.
Doctor Druid is obvious, but I doubt anyone wants to go there. She-Hulk is the same as Hulk.
Beast could be done a number of ways. Particularly if you go with his original non-furry look, though he was always furry with the Avengers.
Wonder Man ... another Synthesist I hate to say. Maybe use a Tielfling as the base race to get the eyes.
Black Widow has been around the Avengers a long time. I still don't really think of her as an Avenger though. Definitely a Rogue/Monk though.
Lot of other people have passed through Avengers Mansion over the years.

I've been building something similar for about 2 years now, I've built all the avengers out as LVL 15 NPC's, new books keep changing my ideas and now i'm waiting for the advanced race guide to really trick them out, regardless I think people are turning to synth summoner way to quickly, case in point iron man;
Iron Man (Iron Mage), Mobile Fighter 5/ Evocation Wizard 5/ Eldritch Knight 5
Mobile Fighter Variant from APG pg. 105
Wizard’s Arcane Bond is with an Amulet that will visually match Iron Man’s power core on his armor. Amulet functions as Adamantine Folding Plate (APG284), except with a +5 bonus instead of +1 and when folded out has the Heavy Fortification magical property.
Wears full-plate so needs Still Spell feat
Elf w/Lightbringer Variant from APG pg. 13
Now a tailor made case for synth summoner would be Jean Grey/Phoenix.
My other core avengers are:
Thor (Thor), Wind Oracle 7, Barbarian 3, Rage Prophet 5
Hurler Barbarian Variant from APG pg. 78
Oracle’s Curse – Lame
Dwarf w/Magic Resistant Variant from APG pg. 11
Uses a +1 Cold Iron Returning, Shocking, Furious (APG288) Light Hammer that when thrown functions as a Lightning Javelin except it is not consumed in the attack
Wears +5 Adamantine Righteous (APG283), Ghost Touch Agile Breastplate which functions as Rhino Hide
-The Incredible Hulk (Hulking Giant), Alchemist 7/ Barbarian 3/ Master Chemist 5
Drunken Brute Barbarian Variant from APG pg. 78
Half-orc w/Plagueborn Variant from APG pg. 19
When in his non-mutated form his appearance is very much representative of his human ancestry whereas when mutated he demonstrates his Orc-blood in full
Captain America (Captain Americ), Order of the Shield Cavalier 9/ Bard 1/ Battle Herald 5
Human
Uses a +5 Heavy Adamantine Throwing Shield with the Returning, Seeking, and Distance magical properties which otherwise functions like the Ricochet Hammer (APG290). This shield also serves as his Cavalier Banner.
Also wears some +5 Gauntlets for hand to hand combat to be interspersed with his shield bash/slam
Wears +5 Mithral Champion (APG283) Agile Half-Plate (APG179) which functions both as the Boneless Leather (APG284) and the Breastplate of Command
Favored Class is Cavalier but uses the Alternative Cavalier Favored Class Bonus for Humans from APG
Black Widow (Lady Fury), Sandman Bard 4/ Spy Rogue 6/ Master Spy 5
Sandman Bard Variant from APG pg. 82
Spy Rogue Variant from APG pg. 135
Green Widow Changeling from AP #43
Uses a +5 Keen, Brilliant Energy Falcata (APG178) in a Sheath of Bladestealth (APG309) and a +5 Distance, Seeking, Corrosive Burst (APG287) Heavy Crossbow
Hawkeye (Archer), Arcane Sorcerer 1/ Skirmisher Ranger 9/ Archane Archer 5
Skirmisher Ranger Variant from APG pg. 128
Arcane Bond is with his Longbow
Half-elf w/Dual Minded Variant from APG pg. 17
My villians:
Vulture – Yamabushi Tengu (JR1 pg. 88) CR5
Shocker – Human (Magus 6) CR5
Scorpion – Drow Noble (Blight Druid 5/ Assassin 1) CR6
Arcade – Dwarf Ranger 5(Trapper/Deep Walker) CR4
Assassin who kills via traps in a labyrinth of his own design. Works for Baron Zemo as the head of his import and export business.
Scarecrow – pg 238 B2 Scarecrow CR4
Works for Baron Zemo. Runs the underground slave ring, primarily through fear, employs Slavers (pg. 266 GMG), Street Thugs (pg. 265 GMG), and Bandits (pg. 258 GMG). Has a history of conflict with both Iron Man and Captain America.
Hydra – pg 178 Hydra CR4
Kept under the city by Baron Zemo, convenient place to dispose of evidence
Green Goblin – pg. 27 Barghest (Alchemist 1) CR5
Leads a goblin tribe terrorizing farming community nearby
Pyro – Gnome (Sorcerer/Oracle) CR7
Baron Zemo – Human (Bard 10(Magician)) CR9
Corrupt town official, deals in trafficking stolen goods/people as part of thieves’ guild “Hydra”, has a piece of Apocalypse (Leg) in his inventory set to be shipped out to Baron Mordo
Kingpin – Dwarf (Monk 10(SM/EH)) CR9
Kraven the Hunter – Humanoid (Shapeshifter Ranger 8) CR7
Rhino – Wererhino (Barbarian 8) CR8
Ghost – Humanoid (Alchemist 10) CR9
Specializes in using his bombs, has the Implant bomb feat and uses it to increase the damage potential of his hirelings whom he has no qualms with sending to their deaths. Hired by Baron Strucker who in turn works for Baron Mordo to destroy the individuals who took down Baron Zemo and Hydra.
Hobgoblin – pg. 27 Greater Barghest (Alchemist 3) CR10
Son of Green Goblin, escapes when his father’s tribe is killed, comes back after the Avengers are removed with a goblin horde, outfitted by the Red Skull and used as a distraction to get the party out of York while he moves in.
Abomination – pg. 268 Troll (Barbarian 5) CR10
No real agenda, just an unwitting pawn used to sow confusion and distract heroes from more serious and subtle threats
Red Skull –Mummy (Sea Witch 10) CR11
Mandarin – Humanoid (Wizard 5/Ioun Angel 7) CR11
Empowers himself with Ioun Stones, has carved out a small magocracy in the Mountains of the Sleeping Dragon on an Island off the northern edge of Latveri. Has Clay Golems in his palace which awaken if he is attacked.
Fin Fang Foom – pg 96 Chromatic Dragon, Green (Adult) CR12
Is the sleeping dragon that the Mountains of the Sleeping Dragon are named after, controlled by a very special Ioun Stone crafted by Mandarin. His horde contains the Heart of Apocalypse
King Mordo – Humanoid (Wizard 15) CR14
Baron Zemo’s distant superior, provided him with the Hydra, actively working on the reconstruction of Apocalypse. Starts with the Torso and one Arm of Apocalypse
King Victor Von Doom – Half-orc (Magus 15) CR14
Rival to Baron Mordo and his magics, wants the pieces of Apocalypse so he can study and build an army under his rule, so far has an Arm and Leg. Uses Iron Golems as his Doombots
Scarlet Witch – Humanoid (Oracle 16) Spellscar/haunted CR 15
Mister Sinister – pg 188 Lich (Necromancer 10/Blood Caster 5) CR16

After being reassembled he sets out to rule the world and cull the weak from its ranks using his “Horsemen” of Apocalypse
Alternative Encounters
Venom –
Symbiote based intelligent item, grants boons to but also attempts to possess its wielders. Chain Shirt +1; effectively curses the wearer with an enhanced form of afflicted lycanthropy (were-black widow). Spawns the Carnage weapon if someone tries casting Remove Curse or otherwise forcefully removes armor from a living character. If the party sells the item it becomes a recurring villain possessing a different host till they catch on and destroy it
Carnage –
Symbiote based intelligent item, grants boons to but also attempts to possess its wielders. Takes the form of the greediest characters favored weapon. Effects: +3, Keen, Vorpal, Reach. At night it controls bonded character and commits murder. During day it implants homicidal and paranoid thoughts vs. will save. If broken it cuts and infects breaker with the Toxin tattoo.
Toxin –
Symbiote based intelligent item/curse, grants boons but also attempts to possess its wielder. Appears as a green, black, and red biohazard tattoo on the player’s back. Effects: +8 Str, +4 Dex, -2 Con, FH 5, Haste constant. Fort save to initiate infection. Develops over the course of a week. Doesn’t control character at night, but while the character is awake it implants paranoid and homicidal thoughts as well as inducing hallucinations vs. will. Removed via Wish only. Remove Curse and heal spells used against the character incite Rage.
Ok that was longer than intended I more or less just copy pasted the doc I've been building on

I'm actually considering having a portal to a superhero universe in my Monster Hill megadungeon, or some other area in the same campaign. My plan is to "cheat" quite extensively. This includes building some of the characters as monsters, modifying classes and giving others abilities they just plain wouldn't ordinarily have. I've even considered modifying the Mutants and Masterminds rules to make them more compatible with Pathfinder.
However that doesn't mean I can't try to participate in this thread with a minimum of "cheating". Starting with the characters in the OP.
Iceman: Frost Bloodline (The Genius Guide To: Ice Magic) Sorcerer
Scarlet Witch: Anarchic Bloodline Sorcerer (alternatively Wilder from Psionics Unleashed)
Hawkeye: Either an Archer Fighter, or Myrmidarch Magus
Gambit: Myrmidarch Staff Magus

I think building them like monsters is far easier (and better) than attaching classes to them that have nothing to do with the character. A lot of comic book characters seem to gain their abilities all at once, as opposed to the group of people who need to wake up every day to adventure to gain theirs.

Am I missing it, or did no one answer the OP's #2 question...
Without a doubt Ghost Rider is a cavalier class... I would probably say that he should be a tiefling with daemon blood (namely the Horseman of Death). I would also say that there may need to be some oracle of fire sprinkled in.
When you get high enough level, see if you can trade up for a nightmare mount...

Nick Fury -- Rogue/Master Spy
Captain America -- Strategist Cavalier
Iron Man -- Synthesist Summoner or Wizard who focuses on constructs (The suit, Jarvis, etc)
Hawkeye -- Skirmirsher Ranger and/or Archer Fighter
Black Widow -- Ninja
Thor -- Inquisitor
Hulk -- Synthesist Summoner and/or Ragechemist Alchemist

Search the forums for Captain Adoran for the best PF Capt America clone I think you will ever see.
Thanks for the compliment! He is now 9th level and is a one of my favorites to play!
Find a link to that build HERE
I have added the Grapplers Mask to him recently as well as a Circlet of Persuasion. I have also taken the Andoran Knight miniature and sculpted custom hair for it to match the Steve Rogers side-part. I call this one "Captain Andoran in his dress blues."
Arnim Thayer |
Hulk: Vivisectionist alchemist/Master Chymist . Dr Banner= NG... Hulk= CN.
This is exactly the build I am using for my PFS character Bryce Bannerman... with the addition of adding a few barbarian levels to him after his first level of Master Chemist. I took the Accelerated Drinker trait to allow him to drink his Potion of Enlarge Person and Mutagen in the same round. I added the spells Stone Fist and Jump to his formula book as well.
Iron man: synthesist summoner with the suit as an eidelon.
I originally going to use a Cavalier/Magus build for my Antonio Starkd character. I like this idea though and have since implemented it for PFS play.

I disagree on Iron Man. The best way to portray Iron Man is with the Construct Modification rules and creating the suit as Construct Armor.
I would agree if that sub-set of rules was allowable for PFS play... which is where I get to play most of my character concepts.
Ultimately, a suit of Mithril Folding Plate with Boots of Flying would do as well, without using the Summoner class at all. Just straight Magus (maybe with 2 levels of Cavalier: Standard Bearer would be very effective.
Unfortunately, Folding Plate cannot be made of Mithril in Organized Play as well, it being a specific named armor.

I still believe the Alchemist with Heavy Armor Proficiency Feat is the best way to go.

I made Captain America as a 11 Shielded Fighter / 1 Monk
+2 Ricochet Heavy Adamantine Shield with Bashing (30000)
He uses the shield and unarmed strikes as his weapons.
I took the dip in monk for better unarmed strikes and good class skills.
I played around with a pally build and cavalier but it just didnt feel right. Cap cant cast spells or channel energy and he has no supernatural abilities, and he doesn't ride a horse. He is strong, agile, good at close combat and has a shield that wont quit.
The only thing i feel like I'm missing is some battle field control.
Going to put the build in a spoiler if you want to see it.
