So on a different angle, because I've been chewing on this for a few hours and trying not to 'shoot from the hip', what is the 'safe limit' of discussion on this thread without triggering the 'trip wires'?

I'm not trying to be silly, it's a concern I have because this is an awesome thread and I don't want to see it shut down because I do a comprehensive post on a topical part of the thread or in response to someone else.

It seems to be that as long as you stick to the OP topic, you should be fine. Staff have been generous in letting other people who are struggling to also post in this thread, but the thread headline and opening post are pretty clear:

I thought it would be cool to create a thread where members of the LGBT community who are also gamers could come and share their life stories, experiences as gamers, and struggles (whether in dealing with their sexuality in relation to our society or not).

The posts that have been shut down seem to mostly be trolls trying to stir up trouble, and topics that don't relate to the issues the thread was started for.

I'm trying to find the post from staff in a different forum when we were discussing the shut-down of political threads. If I recall correctly, they said this thread would still be available for LGBTQ issues.

Civ IV on PC; but I upgraded to Windows 10 last summer and it hasn't worked right sense. Too cheep to buy it again through Steam; and too busy as a PFS VA anymore to spend time on video games.

Never was a big consol player.

Run it under Compatability Mode. Select the mode that corresponds to the version of Windows that ran Civ IV the best. I run Civ II on my Windows 10 laptop just fine.

that is not a sure fix for all games, depending on when the CD was made. Windows had a lot of screwy "protections" in place that make some games impossible to run, compatibility mode engaged or not.

I can't run it from my original disks. Haven't tried buying the Steam copy of Civ IV though.

I did some digging, and Civ IV's version of SECDRV.SYS is incompatible with Windows 10. SECDRV.SYS is a Copy Protection DLL placed on many old games. This might give you more info. Hope this helps.
