Don't play into their hate. They will use it as justification for their actions. They will say that you hate them because they are Christian, completely ignoring the fact that you probably have a lot of Christian friends. They are doing the same thing as the Westboro Baptist Church. Don't play their game. You can't win that way.
Ignoring not just the fact that you probably have Christian friends, but that statistically you are probably Christian yourself. While I am not a Christian, I have no doubt that most of my friends in the LGBTQA community are. It is simple statistics. In the western world (particularly in the US) the majority is Christian.
The haters just don't accept you as Christian because you are not like them.

Ah, but those people are not Real True Christians™ -- they're only giving lip service to Jesus, whereas the people who really believe hate the same way the Real True Christians™ hate.
This is how they fulfill their martyrbatory fantasies of being persecuted and hated The Same Way Jesus Was™ even though they're a member of the majority religious group in the U.S. That's why you get people like Trump saying the IRS is targeting him for being Christian -- it's b+@@~*~!, he knows its b*@@@#&&, but it's a way to stoke the fantasies of the right-wing christians who make up the republican base.

The really frustrating part about Trump is that the election is a win-win situation for him. Regardless of whether or not he wins, he now has a legion of rabid supporters that he can sic on whoever he likes.
Not to mention all sorts of ways to turn that popularity into lucrative business deals.
It's all about the grifting.

A faction of the republican group at my school invited this incredibly incendiary anti-feminist, anti-LGBT speaker (Milo something). For the past month they've been putting up posters everywhere saying things like "social justice is cancer," the six-letter f-word, the t-word, attacking the Black Students' Union, and more generally insulting things to feminists. They just put up a ton more posters today.
I'm not even angry. I'm just sad to know that there are people like that in my school.
What is your school's policy on sexist, racist, and anti-LGBT harassment? Perhaps if you and some like-minded people make the case to the school admins that such speech and speakers (and posters advertising them) violate the school's own fairness standards and policies against harassment and hate speech, the Republican group and similar organizations could be required to hold such events off-campus?

I'm much more worried that regardless of Trump's future, his campaign has demonstrated that it isn't even necessary to dogwhistle any more. Future candidates will likely feel they can freely spew hate and threats of violence against The Others, and significant portion of citizens will vote for them because of it. Worse, supporters will feel emboldened to commit violence against these innocent minorities.

Not to mention he's quite likely going to be the first candidate to turn a profit 9n his campaign.

I love that his supposed "self-funding" that made him independent and not beholden to anyone was actually a loan to the campaign that he's now fund-raising to pay back. It really is brilliant in a way.

I'm not sure if I'm worried about Trump or not.
I'm trying to phrase this so it's not seen as an attack on Trump.
Trump is known to not say what he actually believes in many instances, and instead says what he thinks his audience WANTS him to say.
In fact, in the past, Trump has shown himself to be EXTREMELY liberal in many areas. What's puzzling, is many things that he has stated during his presidential campaign are the exact opposite of what he's stated in the past.
Because of this, I think Trump is NOT saying what he is actually going to do, but what he thinks will get him the most attention and the most votes.
Personally, I'm more of a Bernie Sanders type of person, and if Hillary is smart, she'd make him her VP nominee (she won't, and he probably wouldn't accept even if she offered), I'd think that would be an unbeatable ticket.
Or even better, be Bernie Sander's VP!
However, on the issue of Trump, I don't think I'd want to vote for him, even knowing many of his political statements in the past are actually FAR MORE liberal than anything Hillary has said.
(Clinton is actually in some ways far more conservative than Trump would appear from the late 90s to around the time when Obama was elected).
To me, he has a bigger problem with honesty than Clinton does, and I don't feel that he has any respect for women in general except as things he can "own" from what he seems to proffer in his regards for them.
More than likely, if Sanders does not win the nomination (looking very likely), this is an election I'll sit out.

I'm not sure if I'm worried about Trump or not.
Trump's goals in running for PotUS seems to be 1) satiating his Ego, and 2) installing people & policies who will further his business goals. Everything else -- LGBT equality, women's choices over their reproductive decisions, healthcare, education, pollution, a more livable minimum wage and workers' rights, Social Security, food stamps & WIC, the already thin line between Church & State, etc. -- would all be up for grabs. If it didn't negatively affect Trump or Trump's businesses, he'll likely approve everything that the House & Senate passes ("See, unlike that loser Obama, I get stuff done."). That would give Tea-Partiers and "religious" conservatives nearly free rein to roll back all the hard-won major and incremental gains made by Moderates and the Left for decades. Brownback's Kansas is horrifying, but it will be nothing compared to what they would do on a national level.

I can understand the sentiment of wanting to sit this election out. Heck, many Sanders and Clinton supporters could likely sit this election out, and still survive the battering and bruises to their rights and earnings. But many many more of us are barely treading water, and Trump's presidency will be devastating to us, potentially lethal. We can't afford to leave the country or reorganize our financial assets in safer harbors. Most of us can't hide from the violence and hate that will continue to rise against us.
Even if you think you would be ok not voting, you know at least person who would find a Trump presidency to be a sh!tshow. Vote for them. Remember that there are no perfect candidates, and that doesn't excuse us from not voting for the imperfect candidate over the truely sh!tty one. Remember it doesn't end there, and research & vote on all the downticket candidates too. And in another two years, remember to not sit out the midterm elections either. If we want to make this country live up to it's true potential for all, every election and every candidate is important.

Hi, just checking in here to say I'm bisexual and my girlfriend is transgender. We actually met on an RPG forum where I happened to notice we lived in the same area (Phoenix, AZ), and I recruited her as a player in a short-lived Pathfinder campaign. Things just happened from there.
Anyway, we've been dating for the last six months, except now I've had to move to California for a new job. We're still close enough to visit occasionally, but things are still kind of up in the air.

Life is strange, I turned 21 back in february, and, although I've known for years deep down, I've finally decided to start my journey on transitioning to be the me I need to be, in what feels like the worst political climate for it yet @_@.
I come with one most important thing to say to you all...
Hello.

The main issue, as I understand it, is that the students who invited him are exploiting the rules to try to shut out the university from doing anything. Since he was invited by students and is speaking in a student-run space, they bypassed a lot of red tape and oversight, and it puts the burden of proof on the university to ban him.
Lawful evil at its finest, people -_-

How the smurf am i supposed to deal with all of these shotty emotions i get stuck with? This morning i ended up looking in the mirror and just ended violently opposed to my own body as a whole, all of the flaws ive drilled into with a whole childhood of neglecting it, and i just cant figure out what i can even do about it, my arms and legs are covered in scars(not self-injury... just intentional carelessness and disrespecting my bodys injuries that it got). My face might look fine for a guy straight on, but any other angle it's obvious I'm as ugly as sin, and I doubt anything can fix that. According my therapist it's only another month and a half before I can start hormones but will they REALLY do me any good?
...I'm sorry, I just need to vent a bit, and I feel like I should post what I've written and not just delete it like other things I've done in the past.(Holy smurf why am I such an emotional trainwreck, hormones that I'm not on?)
Question looking for aomething positive of some sort, does anyone have suggestions for a workout routine to help work towards a feminine figure somewhere down the line? I also need to stop thinking broadly and think of more short term goals to meet instead of looking at an ideal and not knowing where to start...but that would mean knowing where to start.

Hey friend, I'm sorry you're having such a crappy time of it. I know it's hard to deal with body stuff, but I know you'll get through this. As for hormones, I've seen a whole lot of before and after pictures of people (at different ages, too, including mostly adults) and hormones definitely do have some pretty radical effects.
It's totally okay if you need to vent, I'm glad you posted if you needed to get this out.
I don't really have any workout tips, unfortunately. Whatever you do, I hope you get the support you need. It sounds like you've been through some rough stuff with your body and body image, but you can do this. Take care of yourself, and I believe in you!

Thanks for the book recommendations, belatedly! (Just got back from a conference and a visit to my folks back home, both mainly good but emotionally draining.)
Oh oh! Some I really like:
My Real Children, by Jo Walton
Under the Udala Trees, by Chinelo Okparanta (aviso: off-screen violence against queer folk)
The Telling, by Ursula K. Le Guin
Ash and The Huntress, by Malinda Lo
Ammonite, by Nicola Griffith (her noir crime novels Always, Stay, and The Blue Place are also pretty great)Haven't read I Can't Think Straight by Shamim Sarif, but the film version was wonderful so it's on my list to read later.
My go-to bookstore is really kind of teeny-tiny, so I’ve had to add things to my list of things to watch out for, or maybe special order one day. Malinda Lo’s Ash and Huntress are already dearly beloved additions to my shelf - in retrospect, if something like those had been around when I was younger, some parts of my teenage years might have made a lot more sense to me at the time.
I was also able to secure a copy of Judy Grahn’s Queen of Swords (fun, though I’m not trained in linguistics and would appreciate more etymological detail on some of the comparative myth stuff) and Renée Vivien’s The Woman of the Wolf (also fun, though its interest is perhaps more historical). One of these days I hope (however implausibly) to find an edition of Vivien’s poetry that won’t set me back 50 euros.
… And I really need to work harder to keep up with this thread. :)
