Tony and Luna |
Hearing some noises within the office, Tony and Luna go through the door. The room is very foggy and smells absolutely gross though neither Tony nor Luna seem effected by it. Looking around, Tony sees Tatho, Remy, Khugron, Tenibri, and... "Oh, you are quite ugly indeed!" He drops his lance (the red arrow on the map) and pulls his new shortsword, stabbing at the creature in front of him.

Tatho takes a deep breath out of surprise at the cloud, inhaling a large amount of it, which immediately turns his stomach incredibly sour and he doubles over in pain. Barely able to move, he manages to step back away from the closest monster.
Khugron and Remy seem unaffected by the stench.
Tony and Luna come barreling into the room, wrinkle their noses a bit at the smell but quickly assess that the hideous fiends are somehow responsible. Moving into close quarters combat, the halfling stabs with his newly acquired shortsword. It strikes true, but doesn't seem to have the oomph to penetrate the otherwordly flesh (DR). Luna looks at her master as if to show him how it's done and bites the creature, her jaws also close around the beast but are unable to penetrate the skin (DR).
Stinking Cloud cast by green, Fort Save DC 13 (poison effect) or they are nauseated. Tony & Luna, Khugron and Remy are unaffected this round. Tatho is nauseated as long as he remains in the cloud and if he leaves, he will remain nauseated for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 additional rounds. In addition to the stench, this is a cloud so visibility is reduced. 20% miss chance (1-20 misses) when next to an enemy, 50% miss chance (1-50 misses) any distance further than that.

Oh dang, so Nauseated is even worse than I thought. You literally can only take a single move action each round. FAQ here. This means no swift, frees, or immediate actions either. So, no 5-ft step or study target. That said, I'm not going to retcon anything or roll an AoO on Tatho's 5-ft step, we'll just move forward with things. I may be doing a bit more botting here to get us through this fight and I'll definitely start rolling everyone's fort saves vs. the cloud. You can still use folio or other re-rolls if you so chose on your turn, me rolling the fort saves is simply to speed things up.

The gnome and cactus disappear into the noxious fog, the group hears a girlish retch as Helvega looses her lunch. The cactus seems fine but both just look around waiting for a chance to do something. (No botting instructions, Helvega and Cuddles going into Delay)
Tenibri manages to get a large whiff of the stank and gags as he flees from the beast in front of him, who fortunately is unable to react fast enough to strike. However, the one by his side swipes his claws at him. (yellow AoO) But, the unearthly beast completely misses. The Wayang escapes the cloud and gasps for air. Nauseated for an additional 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 rounds.
Two of the beasts turn towards the tasty gnome, nod at each other and then step off to the side to flank her and attack. Though even with their tricky little tactical maneuvers and multitude of attacks, every swipe seems to miss.

Dashing towards the door she runs past another monster, but Helvega is simply to quick for it to react and as it glances up the last thing it sees is a large boot crushing its head into the floor until it goes *pop*. Then, with a whoosh of air the fiend's body returns to its native plane.

Tenibri, grateful to have a place to catch his breath, still doesn't like being stuck in the corner of a room he can't fully see, and so near the cloud that's causing him so many problems. He pushes past Helvega on his way out into the main room.

Tenibri |
Not that Tenibri has many options, but can we use a move action to complete a 'lesser' action (free, swift, or immediate), similar to how you can use a standard action to complete a move action?
GM TOP |
Nope, the faq was pretty clear about that. Nauseated is incredibly brutal, much worse than even staggered. I don't even know if there is an alchemical or alternate option to allow someone to get themselves out of the condition, since most would likely use a standard to activate. :(

Tatho and Tenibri bolt out of the cloud, still sickened but at least a bit further away from the dangers lurking in the mist. Tony urges the bile drooling wolf forward and then attempts to give a the beast in front of him a what for with a punch to the jaw. But, even with Cuddles distracting it from behind, the punch sails wide. Remy does connect easily with his staff, though the fiend seems to just shrug off the damage (DR). He steps back out of the cloud.
With no halfling to pick on, one of the fiends chases after while the other turns towards her spikey friend and unloads claw attacks. The first then finds a fun looking snakelike target and swipes a single claw. Yet oddly enough (not really) none of the strikes even come close!
