Bodyguard (Combat)
Your swift strikes ward off enemies attacking nearby allies.

Prerequisite: Combat reflexes.

Benefit: When an adjacent ally is attacked, you may use an attack of opportunity to attempt the aid another action to improve your ally’s AC. You may not use the aid another action to improve your ally’s attack roll with this attack.

Normal: Aid another is a standard action.

If my understanding is correct then bodyguard can possibly be used on more then one person per round correct?

Or if you use it are you stuck with aiding a single ally?

I was just wondering how many times it could be used. Appreciate any clarity and advice I receive.

Thank you!

If you also have Combat Reflexes, I don't see why you can't use each of your AoO to assist a different adjacent ally being attacked.

Combat Reflexes grants a number of additional attacks of opportunity per round equal to your Dexterity bonus. Everyone gets one by default.

So, if you have a Dexterity score of 16, you can make 4 attacks of opportunity per round.

Each use of Bodyguard uses an attack of opportunity. So if you have four adjacent allies, and each one gets attacked, you could use all four of your AoO's to attempt the Aid Another action to improve their AC.

Thats what I was thinking as well.

Now here's a kicker of a question.

If your ally receives an AoO and is till adjacent to you, can you still use Bodyguard to bolster their AC?

Basically using an AoO to counter a AoO?

"Benefit: When an adjacent ally is attacked..." So yes you can use this ability to aid an ally that has been attacked via an attack of opportunity they caused.
