Ok, so my buddy is leaving for texas soon(we live in california) and for his going away bash he wants to play a one shot 20th level game. We are restricted to pathfinder only books(including such materials as inner sea world guide, goblins of golarion ext.) 2 people in the party have allready decided on what they are going to be, one is a quickling ninja with a scimitar, using the dervish dance feat to give him his incredible dex to damage, the new version of superior finesse from AEG. The second is a Very Young 1/2 fiend Umbral Dragon rogue 2/fighter 4/antipaladin 4. scary combinations to say the least. The DM is ok with monsters and broken class combinations ext. My question to you all is....what to play? im used to dealing massive damage by using 3.5 materials and the like, but with pathfinder capstone abilities from classes being awesome and prestige classes, im having a hard time figuring out what to be(especially with all the monster availability) any help?

I have an idea I'm using as a background character for a character I'm playing in a campaign. You can steal it, it's ok.
Dex based, ranged, Kobold Paladin with a slurk mount! Is it op? No! Are you sure to be the only person with one and will it be hilarious? God yes!
If everything in the OGC here is up for grabs and you really want to screw with people's minds (and I have the average power level of your party figured correctly), may I suggest Half-Celestial, Humanoid shaped medium lightning elemental Soulknife.

i actually contemplated a kobold with reduce person(constant) running around in a humanoid fullplate helmet.
or a monk/red mantis assassin worm that walks.
LMAO that's awesome. The DM must be like me. I love ridiculous over the top power levels. I had a mage with a mind-flayer familiar in a group I DMed once. :P

ok so i think i have it.
lets go race first
young(-1cr template) Ghost(+2 Cr template) Quickling(3cr) Worm that walks(+2 CR template)
Monk(martial artist) 2 lvls(for evasion)(LE) Red mantis assassin 10, changing alignments afterwords to CE, going "rogue assassin" and going 2 levels into antipaladin for charisma to all saves.
what do you guys think?
dex to everything because i have no strength score, dual wielding ghost touch sawtooth sabres?

Play a drow noble.
Sean Terrill |
Drow noble is pretty decent for a CR 1 creature. I have a week to play around before i need a final decision. With the differences we have a 20th lvl cleric casting in the party as well so that won't necessarily be an issue. we have no arcane, and with the mix of monsters and 20th level capstones i guess i am just having a hard time finding what i should roll with.

They have no level adjustment look closely at the drow noble character example. Then go vivisectionist alchemist or master summoner.

They do, snirvneblin and drow noble are a CR+1, In the core rulebook under the gamemastering section states dms shouldnt let players play this at first level but second was ok, implying that because they are stronger than standard races they are a CR +1 because of spell-like abilities.

Hey there.
Well, i don't know how much you care about optimizing but i have a character that i think could be really fun to play, and so might you:
It is a Bleachling gnome menhir savant druid with the void domain. Again this has to be O.K.'d with the GM, but if he's okay with the dragon this should be fine as well.
A bleachling is a gnome that has been fully bleached, and yet hasn't faded from the world. in the eyes of gnomes that is a bit like a human lich (in the eyes of humans that is). Mechanically that means no Cha bonus, but a Wis bonus instead (house ruling). the reason this gnome has bleached is because he for some reason got to see the world behind worlds (the void), thus granting him the void domain as druid (although this is not normally available for druids. again house ruling). this has ripped the gnome apart from the world essentially making him a true neutral sociopath in addition to bleaching him. I haven't made his BG completely yet, but i think he could be an interesting addition to most teams.
feel free to steal all you want :)

cyclops diviner with a vorpal weapon. take foresight subschool. Go gish and as many reroll abilitys as possible. You can now oneshot anything that needs a head. A dip into weapon adept and using a vorpal kama gives perfect strike.
this build seems mean as hell, but i doubt your taking into effect the fact that you can only ever get one immediate action per round, and there are no feats to give you more :(
Dragonborn3 |
Pseudodragon bard that is constantly using telepathy for it's bardic performances.
Put a Dirge of Doom right into the enemies head!

im liking the abilities that my ghost combination comes with, the only issue i will come across will be a g#+-d#!ned paladin rofl.

Actually, only the cyclops ability uses an immediate action. Foresight is free, perfect strike or Second chance has no action specified. You only need the immediate action once a day anyway. And if you go diviner's power over fighter feats you'll have casting. Focus in the one weapon is mostly for confirming the critical, the rerolls will give you every opportunity to get nat 20.
