            Bravo!
Definitely a boon to the VTT crowd as well. What's next, objects in their own layer? HA! Well, I know that's probably not gonna happen, but it would be sweet...
Paizo makes my style of play (AP+MapTool) possible. Without them, I'd have nothing. I cannot thank you people enough for your generosity and concern!

One of the best parts about the interactive maps, from my viewpoint, is that they don't involve any work from the editorial side of things.
That said, they may be useful to help explain things in cases where stuff isn't super clear from the text (since it allows for additional maps, without using addional page real estate). Obviously only to be used where it matters to the adventure at hand.
Stuff like:
- Lighting conditions.
- Patrol routes for creatures moving around an area
- Detection radius'
- Trap/Haunt Area of Effect

It's an interesting notion...So how many other people who *aren't* getting the PDFs would be interested in a collection of all of the interactive maps after we've published all six volumes of an AP?
Considering I now use a electronic gaming table and while I do buy PDF's I buy a lot of books at the FLGS because we take up 2/3 of the gaming space most Sundays having the option to just buy the interactive maps would make my life a lot easier.

Add me to another one of the +1000 crowd. I do most of my GMing off my laptop: these features make my life easier! I would gladly rebuy maps for previous APs like these (I say rebuy because I've been an AP subscriber since 2nd Darkness. I would STILL gladly buy the maps for the APs I already own). Awesome, Awesome, AWESOME work. It is much appreciated, and Im excited to see what else might be done with these.

I would also like to thank Paizo for the map options. I complained, for lack of a better word, about the fact that the Map folio's now only contain city and regional maps. I am almost finished DM'ing CotCT and love the dungeon maps. I don't have to flip back and forth in the book and can walk around the table, map in hand, to run exploration on the game mat. At least with this new option, I can print, in black and white if I don't have access to color, and reduce the wear and tear on my books.

While nice, it doesn't make it any easier for the VTT crowd as switching player view to on completely removes the room, so now I have to GIMP the room back in or use the GM view and GIMP out the lovely "S" on the map. I would prefer going back to having the "S" and "T" on their own layer so that I can still pull the image out of the PDF and resize it. Submitting a map with these pre-drawn in today's digital art era does not help.
For those of you that want to print out 1" scale versions use posteRazor. It works wonders.

Actually I prefer the removal of a secret room with the player view. It removes the sometimes meta game impulse of I check for secret doors as I can clearly see there's something there and there must be a door. And it preserves the awesomeness of an elf just going "oh hey gang there's something there".

Hi Vic Wertz,
I do order the PDFs, so not sure how you count my vote. I would be interested in purchasing interactive PDFs of past adventure path, or updates to the current one. I believe someone mentioned adding a interactive map for Brinestump Marsh.
However, as with all purchases, I would need to know the price point. Interactive maps for past adventures for $5 per adventure path collection? I'd buy it in a heartbeat for all past PFRPG adventure paths. $10 per adventure path collection? Yup, I'd buy that for paths I really liked! $15 per adventure path collection? Hmmm... I'd have to think about that. $20 per adventure path collection? Okay, I'd only buy it if I was running the adventure path for sure.
There is my input, for what it is worth.

A humongous back slap on the interactive maps. Awesome, really.
Only thing is.....how do I get mine to work? Using the toggle button doesn't seem to do anything to the maps. Am I missing something? Is this a Mac thing (I have a Mac)?
Help!

If you're using Mac OS Preview, it doesn't support the interactive elements. You'll need to use Adobe Reader. (It's free!)

I'm interested in what the policy might be about whatever needs to be done pulling apart-wise in order for me to copy these as images?
We game using D20Pro, a projector, and a mirror to reflect the image onto the gaming table. (the fog of war makes exploration of dungeons very easy to do!)
Trouble is I need to pull the images off the pdf in order to put them into d20Pro, and I'm finding this is no easy task.
Thanks.

Adobe seems to want to make us choose between allowing interactivity and allowing image extraction. That's why the interactive maps are a separate document—so you can use image extraction to get the maps out of the main book.

Thanks for the reply!
Silly Adobe, i want to project the images that don't have all the secret gm info...Regardless, i made it work using foxit and its clipart function. The quality is not great though.
Thanks again for the prompt reply.

hi guys i want to make a suggestion: instead to sell an archive with all maps separatly why not make interactive the AP Map Folio?
It should make map folio more appetible and you don't have to study a new format for this specific application.
The Map Folios generally are of large land masses that wouldn't utilize the toggles included in the interactive maps. Aside from removing the map tags, not much would really change. Those who purchase PDF versions of the Map Folios already have the ability to get the images they need out of those files without tags.
Unless you're talking about releasing all the maps as a bulk product for each Adventure Path, in which case: I don't believe we're planning to at this point.

            I LOVE this.
It makes preparing my maps for D20Pro so much easier...
Even without a projector if is very usefull to be able to show a clean map to players.
The no grid option available since JR-2 is a must.
I would gladly pay to get this for past AP and modules.
My only request would me for a bit more resolution if possible. Even if the result does not fit on a standard sheet anymore.
Geting the PDF free is a great bonus for subscribers but this makes it a no brainier for me. I will stay a subscriber as long as this is part of it.
THANK YOU :)

One of the best parts about the interactive maps, from my viewpoint, is that they don't involve any work from the editorial side of things.
Including things like starting points for NPCs and monsters and items, on the other hand, would require the adventure's developer to be more involved in the creation of these maps. And that's not something I want to see happen as long as our adventure developers are already working long hours in order to keep things on schedule.
Furthermore... since the way that the PCs approach an encounter can impact the starting positions of the monsters and NPCs, I've never been a fan of placing starting positions for such on maps. Monsters and NPCs do things other than wait patiently for their fights to start.
Indicating tactics on a map is even more problematic, since that requires specific interaction with stat blocks and the like. We generally get final maps in for an adventure relatively late in the production cycle, and that would not leave us much time to do yet another level of stat block tinkering.
And super extensive changes, like ones that might be "before the flood" or "after the avalanche" are probably beyond the scope of simple layer change stuff we can do in-house; those types of maps would have to be ordered as separate maps from our cartographers due to the large amount of additional artwork and changes that would require.
Well, that shoots down a lot of my "hear, hear!" feelings but what I would add is that it would be great if all the little maps were not shown on the same page.
Players are a crafty lot and will exploit any opening you give them - allowing them to view the maps of future encounters is essentially an open invitation to memorize/copy down the maps. If there was a way to turn off the maps that you don't want to display until it is time for the relevant encounter that would make this an even greater resource.
=Dan
