"Don't ask me what's goin' on. And don't ask me where Ameiko is either, for that matter. Sleepin' in I guess. Must be nice." She laughs without humor, tossing the rag she's holding over one shoulder and casting a nod to Hiro as he enters. To Basil, she continues, "So what brings you to town, friend?"

Basil adopts of playful expression of mock-horror.

"You know I would never dream of insulting you so! As for why I am here, well, I have just finished my latest patrol, and thought I would call in to see how old friends were going..."

He turns to regard the room at large.

"I know the saying goes that 'a stranger is simply a friend that you have not met yet', but I must confess, there are a few more 'new friends' here today than I was expecting..."

Basil them turns a beaming smile on Magdelia.

"Could I trouble you for a mug of that wonderful spiced coffee that you do so well?"

He then pushes 5cp across the bar in payment.

Returning to the main room, she casts a warning look at Notick. That look says all too clearly, It's early. Don't y'be making mine or yer morning any more difficult than it needs to be. Hoping that she got her point across, she turns to Basil.

He flashes his sultry smile at Mags, shaking his head with a slight shrug signifying his agreement to 'behave'. As Ameiko rushes in, his smile fades and his eyes narrow on her facial features. He quickly stands, packing his cards away and moves towards the Kitchen door in the direction of Mags, "Mags, what is going on with Ameiko? Is she alright?"

He slowly edges as if he's going to head in the Kitchen to check up on her as he awaits her response.

"Comin' up,"she says, pushing the coins back to Basil. "First cup's on the 'ouse."

Before she could even turn to fetch the coffee, Ameiko rushes in heading for the kitchen without so much as a Good morning. Magdelia watches her pass by, her brows arched in curiosity. "Not sleepin' in after all," she mutters to no one in particular.

Notick wrote:

"Y'got me, Tick," she replies absently, still staring at the kitchen door. Her look of curiosity is slowly turning to one of concern. Seeing Notick moving toward the kitchen, she nods and waves the half-elf on. "Go ahead, but don't ye be gettin' in the way." And then, as an after thought, she adds, "And if she don't want to be talkin' 'bout it, don't y'dare press it."

Turning back to Basil, she shrugs her shoulders. "Somethin' in the air today." With that she turns to the urn on the back counter, drawing a cup of the dark spiced drink and sliding it over to Basil.

I'll do the playtest version as I plan on getting the UC datafiles for Herolab as soon as they come out... :)

He nods and flashes his typical 'million platinum' smile, quickly maneuvering through the kitchen door in search of Ameiko. He speaks in his typical boisterous 'I own this place' voice, which is very easy to hear from the bar area, "Ameiko, Where might you be? We're all worried about you!" Having only been through the kitchen in quick instances, primarily to flee from upset and/or cheated gamblers, he takes a look around trying to find Ameiko.

Perception Check 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

As the sun came up, an observer looking at the beach to the north of Sandpoint would see the sight of a young human, apparently fighting off invisible attackers. He would turn, slash with a short sword (apparently a Tien style sword) and kick in the opposite direction. He would move as if he were blocking a blow, and make an acrobatic move to throw himself to the side in a crouch as he thrust the sword forward. As this went on for several tens of minutes, the young man finally paused and sheathed the sword, kneeling and meditating for another few minutes before rising and walking toward the Rusty Dragon.

Saburo entered the Dragon with a smile, looking around at all the gathered people. Seeing Magdelia taking care of things he figured Ameiko was handling other business. He took a seat near the corner he spotted Hiro as he entered and smiled. Hiro was a couple of years older than Saburo, and they'd always gotten along pretty well. Well, as well as two could get along when it was obvious that one had a crush on the other's sister. But then, Hiro has apparently never mentioned it to Ameiko, so I do owe him for that. Saburo ended that thought with a smile and waved to Hiro "Hiro! come sit." He smiled at Magdelina. "Mag, I'll take care of Hiro's whatever for this morning. Did I leave my mandolin back there? I feel like some music this morning, and I'm sure others might enjoy it too. Besides, I need the practice." He grinned, waiting a response.

She offers a nod in greeting to Miura as he enters.

"What am I? Yer mother?" she calls back, her whispery voice carrying well enough across the room. She looks around behind the bar, muttering, "Can't keep track of their own damned things, like I got nothin' better to do with me mornin'." Spotting the instrument tucked away in a corner, she's relieved that at least it was easy to find. "Aye," she calls out again. "It's here. I suppose you want me to bring it over there now?" Though she's adopted a look of long-suffering, it's obvious that she is only giving the man a hard time for her own amusement. "No, no," she continues, not giving Miura an opportunity to answer. "I got it. Wasn't doin' nothing but trying to keep the place runnin' smooth 'n' all."

She retrieves the mandolin and carries it over to Miura. Giving the man a wink as she hands it over, she says, "Here ya go, hon. Hungry?"

Free spirited, pleasant demeanor, an abounding sense of curiousity and wonder about new things, a serious case of wanderlust, observant, barely able to sit still

Maldrin, a wild looking elven male with a bird half asleep on his shoulder. enters the Rusty Dragon looking for his sister. Not immediately seeing her, he sits down at the bar. "You haven't seen my sister today have you, Mag? She said she would train me in the ways of the wild today, but she wasn't at home when I woke up. Was hoping she was here. Wake up, Molette. It's breakfast time."

After taking down his make shift campsite, Garesh makes sure all of his wraps are covering most of his skin. He pulls his hood over to cover his eyes from the painful rays of the sun, and starts to head to the town.

He finds his way to the Rusty Dragon Tavern, the small framed elf covered in wraps with writting on it and dressed in a dark blue clerical robes limbs into the bar and finds his way to a stool.

"May I have a wine good barkeep."

Waits and watches the crowd looking to see if anybody needs his services.

Basil offers Magdelia a wan smile of sympathy.

"The solitude does occasionally have its compensations..."

His interest is, however, piqued, and his concern raised, when Ameiko rushes through the main room of the Inn, and into the kitchen.

I wonder what is going on?

"I haven't," Mags says, "Though, at the rate things are goin' this mornin', I'm sure she'll be along. If ye want though, Notick's back in the kitchen. I'm sure he could train you in the ways of being too damned loud in the mornin' - this last bit she says overly loud toward the kitchen door, though it's unlikely her damaged voice would reach the kitchen - "If yer interested, that is. A poor trade, though it be."

She watches Garesh enter, casting a suspicious look his way after he passes. That one gives me the creeps, harmless though he seems.
"One minute," she responds to his request for wine.

I present, for your consideration, Eisen Helstrom. -the Loreweaver

Eisen took a moment to steady himself as he jumped off the back of the farmer's wagon. The ride to Sandpoint was anything but smooth and it took a moment for his body to remember that it wasn't the entire world that was lurching and jarring so viciously. He reached into the coin purse as the he walked to the front of the wagon where a wrinkled old man hid under a ridiculously large-brimmed straw hat. Putting a few silver coins on the seat next to the driver, Eisen nodded in appreciation, “Thanks for the ride.” The aged farmer gathered the coins and flashed Eisen a toothless grin as he touched the brim of his hat. Then, with a crack of leather, the wagon began to move again.

Eisen shifted the weight of the pack hanging on his shoulder and looked around. The sun had just risen on the community of Sandpoint and its people were already into their morning routines. He began to stroll down the street as he pondered his first destination. Koya’s home should be the first place I visit. It is, after all, the reason I’ve returned to Sandpoint. As he stopped to get his bearings, the smells of breakfast reached out across the street to him. Eisen turned to look at the sign hanging above a familiar structure. He smiled to himself. I’m not likely to make it that far though on an empty stomach. His gut audibly agreed with the notion.

Pushing open the door to the Rusty Dragon, Eisen strolled in and surveyed the room. His heart ached a little as the realties of time sank in. Unsurprisingly, most of the faces he took in were unfamiliar. It had been many years since he had set foot in the establishment and he shouldn't have been surprised that the regular patrons had changed since his youth. The one face he had counted on seeing, though, wasn’t present. Koya would have certainly mentioned if Ameiko had sold off the tavern or moved out of Sandpoint, so he figured she was busy elsewhere at the moment. Spying an unoccupied table, he dropped his pack into an empty chair and claimed one next to it for himself. With a pleasant smile, he waits to be served.

"There does seem to be quite a crowd today at that. Where's Ameiko to help you?" Maldrin looks around at the crowd as Molette makes it clear that her opinion of the crowd is akin to Mag's.

Glad to see you make the deadline there Loreweaver.

I spent a lot of time thinking on the concept and I finally have a character to put forth. I am making a Aasimar Ninja.

Story of Tanimoto:

The Beginning
He was born to one of the Tian regents as an illegitimate son. The "mother" had left the boy along with a note identifying him in the regents room one night. The boy caused quite an uproar as the regents wife had discovered the baby and note first. Outraged, the regent to the boy away. Rather than kill him, the regent turned the boy over to a ninja sect called the Shoji clan. There the boy was named Tanimoto and trained in the art of the ninja.

The Encounter
Tanimoto was the unfortunate victim of a plot against his clan. Members of the clan were being assassinated and killed off or framed left and right. Tanimoto was part of a group mission involving the assassination of a traitor. The lead they got took them out to Varsia. While they were away, the clan had been attacked one final time and was destroyed by the government they had been serving. The six surviving warriors had reach the safe hold where the traitor stay hiding. Though he turned out to be better defended than they had anticipated. The battle was won but Tanimoto was the only survivor, barely. He had sustained a severe injury and was barely clinging to life. In the wilderness he slumped against a tree. A faint glow shone on him and he began to see his life fade. Just as he was about to close his eyes and accept his fate, an angel appeared before him. As she grew closer and began to treat his wounds, he realized she was no angel, but an elven woman.
"Who are you?" He managed to ask.
"Shalelu. Can you walk?" Shalelu, the name felt like honey on his lips. He was able to stand and she carried him back to Sandpoint.
"Please, I cannot be taken to a doctor. I need only to rest."
"But you are badly injured."
"I know, but you must trust me, I cannot see a doctor."
Shalelu nodded and decided instead to take the boy to the Rusty Dragon where he began to recuperate. Shalelu had nursed him back to health, visiting him frequently and bringing him several herbal remedies. Before long Tanimoto was able to walk. Once he was strong enough, he decided to leave. He left a note of thanks and a few coins on the bed and disappeared out the window in the dead of night.

The Return
Tanimoto returned to his homeland to find that the betrayal had done it's damage in spite of his teams sacrifices. His whole clan was hunted to the last man, namely him. He was now an outlaw running for his life. With no where to return to or anywhere to hide, Tanimoto was forced to flee his homeland. He knew there was only one place he could go and that was back to the Rusty Dragon.

The Reunion
Tanimoto had traveled back to the Rusty Dragon where he had hoped to see Shalelu again. Once there however, he had few to no coin to his name. He ended up working as a secondary bartender at the inn. This didn't bother him too much as it seemed Shalelu frequented the place often. For now, this arrangement was okay, but his trade was a ninja, a stalker of shadows. He would need to find a new job, one that could make better use of his talents and in addition, would help him pay for his new life.

"She's in the kitchen, though she's yet to be any help this mornin'," Magdelia says, going to retrieve a glass of wine for Garesh. Setting the glass down before him she gives him a weak smile, trying not to stare at his strange wraps. "That's a silver, Garesh. Ye want a tab, or...?"

As she speaks she spies the newcomer over Garesh's shoulder. At least someone here's not clamoring for my attention, she thinks blandly. Returning her attention to Garesh, she picks up her train of thought. "Well, you think about that fer a minute. I'll be right back."

We could use a little help front o' house," she thought making her way over to the newly arrived patron. I shoulda just stayed in the kitchen.

"Mornin', sweetheart," she says, arriving at Eisen's table. Noticing the odd discoloration of the man's hand, a look of curiosity lightens her face. Covering for herself, she puts on a smile to match the man's own and looks him in the eye. "What can I get for ya?"

Hiro sees his sister enter the kitchen, and his face lights up with a gigantic smile. "Sister"! He cries running to her and embracing her. "It has been too long".

He had to put down a large urn of goat cheese to embrace her.

Tanimoto enters the kitchen of the Rusty Dragon from the back door, ready for another day of work. "I am hear. I will begin my duties momentarily" He notices Ameiko is being hugged by a stranger. Tanimoto then approaches the individual. Tanimoto is short slender boy with really attractive features. He has a shine about him the resembles something of a higher being but other than that, he looks like a pale skinned black haired Tian boy.

He approaches Hiro. "Greetings sir, Are you familiar with my boss in some way?"

While Hiro has been away from the Inn for the past couple of months due to his uncles injury, but he normally visited most Sundays for lunch with his sister, so chances are he might know him

Sorry but might want to re-do this, as Hiro is in the Kitchen through the back entrance, not in the common room :-) Or you could just wait till he comes into the common room. I don't think the timing is critical here

"Bacon omelet with fresh goat cheese it is then," she replies. "As for news, well, there's some nonsense 'bout princesses and the like. But if you ask me, it's a load of... Well, a bunch o' nonsense, as I said." Though Ameiko is acting a tad odd this morn'. "I hear tell Jakob caught a 28 pound steelhead two days ago. A little town like this, that's about the most excitement ye'd be likely t'find. Though nobody else seems to have seen the thing, so I expect that's just nonsense too." She rolls her eyes as she speaks the last of this, her aversion to life in the dull small town apparent. "So what brings you to our small slice of 'eaven? Just passing through, I assume."

You do know it was just so I could have you close and enlighten me with your mere presence. That is always a highlight of my day." He took the mandolin and began strumming a few notes. He nodded to Mag's question. "Just a bit of bread and honey for now. Just a small bit of something..... "

Sorry I missed that part.
Since Tanimoto hadn't been working here long. He hadn't seen Hiroshima often enough to recognize him readily just yet. Once he got a better look, he realized who it was. "Ah, master Hiro was it? The ladies brother. Its good to have you back in town. I will leave you two and tend to my duties. With that Tanimoto will dawn his tavern gear and head out to take orders

Is there anyone else who works at this pub or frequents it enough for me to know you?

"Yes. Er, no. Well, yes. Um," Eisen verbally stumbles over himself, "What I mean to say is, this is something of a homecoming for me. I haven't been to Sandpoint in a good decade or more." He pulls his gaze away from the waitress long enough to cast a longing look about the common room. "I don't know how long I'll be staying for though. Ultimately, I do plan to be moving on. What about you? How long have you called Sandpoint home?"

@Shanosuke Yeah, I also work here so you'd know me at least. There are a few others that are regulars as well.

Also, a slight retcon for Miura:

Mags gives Miura a wink. "Always the charmer. Give me a moment, we're a bit short on help at the moment, it seems."

And back to the present...

She cocks an eyebrow as the man fumbles his answer, but seems mildly intrigued by his eventual response. "Four years, m'self. Though I was a bit of a regular for a few years before that." I can see a bit of Tian in 'im. Don't tell me this is another of Ameiko's kin.

"I'd love to hear yer tale. If I had a minute to spare, that is. Let me take care of these orders 'fore folks start gettin' restless, 'n' maybe when things slow down a bit you can..." She stops herself short, realizing that her love of adventure tales is making her a bit too forward. "Well, unless ye'd rather some peace 'n' quiet. I'll be back with yer breakfast in a jiffy, hon."

Mags turns to return to the kitchen, spotting Tanimoto. Thank Torag! "I am glad to see you, Tanimoto. Can you get a plate for Maldrin, please. And see that that bird of his doesn't s$~~ on the bar." With that Mags heads into the kitchen to fill the other orders she's taken. And I'd like to have a word with Ameiko, while I'm at it.

Garesh is a little too focused on the crowd, when Magdelia asked him about starting a tab. As he comes back to reality, Garesh waits for the elven girl to comeback around and replies, "Sorry about my rudeness earlier my dear, I couldn't help but over hear you talking about that omelet. I wish to order one and I will like to start a tab. Thank you for your service Miss."

Magdelia will see a smile brew under his wrapped face.

"Been a busy morning?"

Tanimoto nods to Magdelia. "Okay, you go do what you need to. Lord Hiro is here also, he is in the back with Lady Ameiko doing some catching up. I'll tend to the orders." Tanimoto will move to go fetch a plate and take it to Maldrin. "Here you go sir, is there anything else I can get for you?" Tanimoto eyes the bird carefully.

"Your company would be most welcome, but please don't be negligent of your duties to the tavern on my account. A thought struck Eisen as the woman turned to go and he reached out to touch her arm, "Something to drink with that omelet, if you please?"

Eisen's gaze remained fixed on his waitress until she passed out of sight into the kitchen. His smile slowly receded. With nothing better to do, he looked about the room once again, taking the time to study the various morning patrons of the Rusty Dragon. He was quickly getting a sense of the regular locals based on how the woman that took his order interacted with them. Funny how you can feel like such a stranger in a place that was once home.

Once his coffee arrives, Basil sips it slowly, feeling the warmth of the beverage suffuse him.

He then returns to watching the motley collection of new arrivals that is crowding the The Rusty Dragon.

My, my. Business must be really good! I can see why Ameiko is so fond of the place...

Basil nods to Tanimoto as he passes, and motions for a refill.

"When you have a moment, of course; things seem to be a lot busier than normal..."

Tanimoto looks over at Basil. "Indeed so it would seems. I haven't been working here for long and this has to be the busiest it has ever been." Tanimoto takes Maldrin's requests and turns back over to Basil. "I will have your refill in one moment sir." Though he looked like a some kind of mix breed, it is easy to tell that Tanimoto was Tian by his strong accent.

the exotic traveler who came inside the tavern a lot earlier walks into the kitchen after finishing her breakfast. she bows before Mags and says to her in common i am ready to wash the dishes for you. i shall wash for each of these patrons while i await a chance to converse privately with the princess.

"That will be sufficient for me. Go ahead and tend to your other customers."

Okay guys recruitment is closed. I will have my choice made soon(possibly with in the next hour). For those of you who are not chosen there are at least 3-4 other people running Jade Regent games that I'm sure you could apply for. Sadly that applies to the vast majority of you since I'll only be choosing four or five of you.

Silver Crusade

Best of luck to everyone!

"Yes I am sure the rest of you will do fine elsewhere."

Thanks for your patience everyone...This was an incredibly hard process to choose as several of you have built GREAT characters that I wish I had room for. Which lead me to the choice to run two groups.

Group 1:
Zhao Taijuro-Human Samuri
Garesh Vin'dell- Drow Oracle
Notic Monstriare- Half Elf Magus
Alfonso-Human Sorcerer

Group 2:
Tanimoto- Aasimer Ninja
Kodachi Nekogami- Human Fighter
Magdelia- Half elf witch
Eisen Helstrom- Human Alchemist

Thank you to everyone else who applied. It was VERY VERY hard to choose between everyone(hence me running two groups). I will have OOC threads up soon(like in the next 5 minutes).

I want to give a special thanks to Shanosuke for letting me pick his brain this early in the morning.

That hurt dude. Next time, your on your own. Leave my brain out of it. Though thanks for the spot dude. I'm really looking forward to this app.

Thanks for choosing me. I'll get Alfonso cleaned and re-geared tonight.
