Tower Shield Training reverts to normal armor training when not using a tower shield, so first off there is NO downside to gaining it instead of normal armor training. At worst, you're where any other fighter would be. If you DO use a tower shield, though, you basically get an extra two points deducted from armor check penalty and +1 max dex over regular armor training's values (ie, at AT III you'd have 5 lower check penalty and +4 max dex, for example).

So it's strictly better than normal armor training. They do lose weapon training for other class features, though, which may be annoying for you.

Doesn't weapon training loss mean you hit goes down and you can't use Duelist gloves?

I could see 5 levels being good dip for anyone wishing to use a Tower Shield: as this removes penalty to hit from Tower shield.

Someone thought you lost armor training or got an inferior version of it, which is not the case. I agree, losing Weapon Training hurts a lot, the only archetype that loses it (not counting all the ones that just give it to you with a specific weapon or the like) I'd ever consider is Unbreakable.

Great topic, why is it in the archive? I found this one thread more useful in building my barbarian than any other resource, guides included.
I looked for other threads this good but found none. Any hope to see this living again?

Not sure. The Barbs are awesome topic Migrated over to the Caster/Martial Disparity thread, when no one could come up with a way to kill AM BARBARIAN.

Several ways were found to do it, actually, although the fact that the deck was heavily stacked against casters made it difficult.

And it only required a UMD check for a spell not even on the class' spell list in order to kill the bat. Assuming the bat is just a bat and not an AC or a leadership cohort mount.

Oh and that other guy with his DC whatever spell at level 10, but as was pointed out he was trying to use a rule that doesn't actually exist to heighten a dazing spell and have it all count for the heighten.

But yes, the tornado killed the bat.

The only reason the tornado killed the bat was because you didn't sunder the tornado, I don't think AM BARBARIAN loves BATTY BAT enough.

You're right. Clearly the obvious answer was to sunder the weather.

God I'm such a moron. Sunder is always the right answer.

Goes to show that system mastery is really the only thing that matters.

Also Barbarians.
