I have to say, Shifty, that I Attalas has got me laughing my ass off. I wanted to go to bed quite some time ago... but no, I had to stay up to catch up on the last 400+ posts of Heart of Journeys. Now it's 4 am. I had better get to bed.
Night everyone.

OK well the character I was running is Aurichalcum from my profile.
The game he was in was a 20pt build game, but he was built on a 15 pt build as 'balance' and started as a L0 Pseudo-Dragon (ie an out of the book one with better 'stats', but nothing else).
I'm running it pretty sand-boxey so we haven't started LoF proper. I can drop you in when we start the monastery which will be a bit different from written. We could say you are looking for allies to run the gnolls out of your 'domain'.
this party sure ain't optimized, but that can lead to some really interesting developments :)

We are optimized to escape from trouble - I am sure the bard and wizard will start to memorize invisibility very quickly to go with a sneaky fighter and a thief. So a flying oracle would fit right in.

OK well by way of disclosure.
His progression was
L1 - L0 PD (no class)
L2 - L1 Oracle
L3 - L2 Oracle
Happy to leave him sitting outside the temple looking for people to come clear it.
The funny side about playing a Pseudodragon is working out that weapons and armour become rather problematic... I don't think people factored that one in!

Personally, I think the drawbacks - lack of equipment, etc. Are sufficient. Perhaps consider some of the extra abilities - flight, poison, etc. to be his level 1 feat. If it was my vote I would say just start him as a 20 point buy level 1 Oracle. VooDoo should be able to balance things with equipment if necessary.

I think we are at almost 60 posts on HoJ in the last 36 hours. Well over 100 if you include the 35 or more on this thread. Nice.
And all that has happened is a good ogre has killed a paladin and is planning on enjoying the foolish wench who charmed him. Hard to beat that although the 50+hp coup de gras comes close.

It seems Ragnvald's original policy of "let them kill each other and let Gorum sort it out" really was the best option.
Please for the love of god do not type what happens next in any sort of detail I know my games run on the side of risque but only because I allow peoples imaginations do most of the work for me.

Followed up my weekend concussion with the most evil of University surprises, the surprise week long group research project. I've spent four days learning how to program in Python and then staying up until 3am writing simulations. So many errors, so much coffee, more hours in the library than I spent there the entirety of last year. Just left the Uni library 2 hours ago and have finished writing up my part of the project. Hardest week of University so far by a long way.

FYI - I'll be out of town tomorrow, so probably won't get a chance to put in an update until Sunday evening my time (in roughly 48ish hours from this post).
Please DMPC me if required to keep things moving - my next action will be to attempt to blow the knee joint out of the Mjollnir with my mustache wax coated sausage of high-exposive ;)

Morning all. I'll be headed out a bit later and will be gone for a few hours, and then tonight I think I'm going to the bar with some friends. I don't think I'm in much of a drinking mood lately, but that doesn't mean I won't get sloshed and come back to drunk post for you guys later :) Ignore my stupidity!

A question for everyone:
Change the difficulty of modules or not?
The HOL party has just killed Waldur Crove - a Cleric CR 8, now they face his chaos beast CR7 and will soon meet the Yog-Sothoth (I won't tell you the CR, but it's high...).
I didn't play out Crove to his abilities, because I knew he and the chaos beast would already be enough for a TPK, but the beast itself seems too strong for the party...not to speak of the BBEG...
Now the question is: Follow the module and TPK everyone or reduce the monster's abilities?

I am not a player in HoL, so I cannot comment on that game, but, since you asked everyone, I gues you wan't to know how your players would feel about you changing the difficulty of mods in general.
I say: go ahead, adjust the difficulty. Not to make the module trivial or more easy to solve, but to adjust it to fit the group and the flow of game (which is much different in a PbP anyway).

^^ As above!
There seems to be a trend of AP's and modules way 'underpaying' the character WBL, and then expecting to throw ECL encounters that are hard etc.
Notwithstanding, HoR are doing ok, got a bit rough because of a few missed saves, but frankly it seems like my 'Harry Approach' of treating the place like the heavily trapped headquarters of a Thieves Guild was the right approach... can only suspect had we been touching stuff and having whole parties enter spaces we would have a few deaths on our hands so far.
HOL are a bit stuck, but thats also because we have ended up a bit light on players at the moment... not over yet though.
